I have one. I subscribe to iRobot by email (i.e., I get ads for specials and sales regularly). They still push 600-series and now 900-series, but it seems they do not offer the 800-series machines. I am curious as to what is the explanation for them selling 600 and 900 series but never mentioning the 800 series?

That's interesting. I hadn't noticed that but will check next time I'm at Harvey Norman. You'd assume the mid range would be popular as it has much better suction and features than the cheapest one and not the $1499 price tag of the top of the range. I have recommended the Roomba 890 to so many people so I'm assuming they are still available. Couldn't live without mine.

Thank you for you question. Currently we are offering a 600, E and I series Roomba's which are our low, mid and higher range Roomba's. Sadly the 800 series has been discontinued in Australia and replaced by the new E series for around the same price.

We just attempted to use brand new model 895 purchased for Christmas, very disappointing, unit attempts to self dock but keeps pushing docking station aside even though it is located against wall, unit cannot climb on low carpet, unit wanders total random covering some areas many times and not covering other areas. Very disapointed in performance. Question, how can we rectify problems we are experiencing?

JMMasked
How does the 850 compare to other models in the 800 series??
1 answer
Malcolm R.iRobot
Good Morning JMM
Sadly the Roomba 850 is not a model we are importing into Australia/New Zealand at this time. I can advised that all iRobot Roombas are very good with the qualities increasing as your move higher up the range. The 800 series would be classed as mid range.
If you are looking a purchasing this series and would like to ensure your warranty will be in tact without having to potentially sending it off overseas, we would be recommending the Roomba 890, motor, roller will be exactly the same, however this model is also wifi enabled allowing you to send the Roomba off to clean your home from anywhere in the world.
If you have any questions, please contact our office directly on 1300 727 421.

Is this 860 series as loud as the 500 series?
1 answer
Malcolm R.iRobot
Good Afternoon Christie
Thank you for your question. I myself have not heard the Roomba 500 series operate as this model was discontinued prior to our company selling the brand. Being that the Roomba 800 series does have a 3x more powerful motor it is possible. However that have really worked on the noise level as you go up in the models so I would more likely say it would be slightly quieter. Sorry I could not have been of more help.

Hello, I am thinking of buying a Roomba to assist with the vacuuming, we have two long coated dogs. Does the machine move from hard floor to rugs or would it get stuck at the edge of a rug?

Malcolm R.iRobot
Good Afternoon Pat
Thank you for your questions. The Roombas are fantastic for moving between hard flooring to carpeted areas including rugs. However depending on the type of rug, (ie heavy or light) will determine if it may get court on the corners.
In relation to have 2 long coats dog,s I would defiantly be recommending the new R890 or the R980 as these are the two most powerful models are will give you the best results.
If you would like you can contact us directly at [email protected] with your contact number and reference C0148546 and we can go through all the questions you have to help choose the best model for lifestyle.

I have one short haired dog, a cat and 2 rugs. I bought the Roomba 860. It is pretty much useless when it comes to most hair and fluff. It seems to collect fine particles of dust but will just go right over the hair on the carpet. It won't climb onto my rugs at all and will often just sit at the edge and beep and I have to come and move it off. I even got a new rug as I wondered if it was because the rug I had in the lounge was too high - still won't go over the lower rug. I have been very disappointed and even sent videos to the support care team and the company I purchased from, showing how it travels over clumps of hair without even moving them, but support team have told me it's not their issue, as the company I bought from, Dick Smith, are not authorised roomba sellers!!! I am trying to get a refund from Dick Smith but don't like my chances - I paid $700 with shipping!!! Big mistake. I would never reccomend roombas to anyone.
Hello again,
after a lot or research and checking out reviews I purchased a roomba 980, yesterday 12 February 2018. I took the machine home and set it up and after charging the battery I let it do the first clean.
This worked out reasonably well, with a few error messages etc which were fixed. The roomba cleaned up a lot of dirt it was not however able to return to its docking station. However, not to worry as I thought it was obviously familiarising itself with the environment. After the roomba finished I cleaned it up according to the apps instruction and placed it in the docking station to rechard. I also set a cleaning schedule.
Today when we returned home, the roomba was close to the docking station but not on it. So, we put it on the docking station after realising that it did not get to clean at all. After the roomba had charged itself, I scheduled to clean. Well, all the machine has done is move from its docking station, circle around on itself and keeps on giving an 'error 16' which means I should put it on a flat surface. I have followed instructions, rebooted the roomba but without success.
What do you suggest I can do now, apart from returning it?
Confused, bewildered and frustrated......
Jessiasked
I've watched a review video and it indicated that Roomba is quite noisy. Is this true? I am tending to use it clean around while I take a nap
1 answer
Teghan R.iRobot
Good Morning Jessi
Thank you for your question. It's hard to say, the Roombas are a vacuum, so there is noise when in operation. I find that I can watch TV whilst my Roomba is working, but if I wanted to take a nap, I would go into the room and close the door as I wouldn't want it coming in whilst I am sleeping. However I have spoken with a lot of customers that only operate their Roombas at night. So I guess it is personal preference.

Good Afternoon. Thank you for your inquiry. On average we recommend a full charge for the Roomba 800 Series is approx 3-4 hours. Kind regards Rebecca
i leave it at its port all the time took 4 hours to recharge the first time
Well I fully charged it over night, that was ok. But! Nowhere did it tell me I was fully charged! So it's hard to know

On eBay some are selling for around $500 for the 880 model, appreciate your comments.
1 answer
That doesn't seem right. New ones sell for more than that in the US so they couldn't sell for $500 here. New ones wouldn't be sold at that price.

Hello, could you please tell me ehy my irobot 880 spend so much time for cleaning? He cleans 25 meters for 1,5 hours and I had to stop it and return in the base? If I want to clean only 2 rooms it always spend ao much time and battery? Thank you in advance, S.

hello
the irobot roomba880 has no navigation system resulting in it staying in one spot. but they have released a irobot roomba 980 a few weeks ago and this one has a navigation system(camera). but i havent reviewed it yet :( .
Problem resolved very quickly;)! iRobot roomba 880 is fabulous!! He is checking for the first time and he founds everything on my floor! We have a dog and at first when he cleaned so long I was very disappointed, but when I saw what he find. The next time he cleaned more quickly, but again full of dog hair and dirt. In three days he was "satisfied" ;) and after those 2 days he cleans 3 rooms, in total 50m2 in 40 minutes!!! (And is always full of everything).
It's quicker if you move chairs and other stuff, but if you forget sometimes or is putted on automatic cleaning, he cleans around stuff and chairs without any problem. Best, S.

How does the Roomba880 cope with wet food scraps such as corn that inevitably end up under the table after my 2 year old has eaten?
3 answers
Hmm, not sure. We have a dog who eats anything that falls on the floor. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I suggest not making the roomba pick wet or damp things. if you have tiled or wooden floor e.c.t I suggest buying the irobot scooba 450 which will pick up the wet food and it will also scrub your floors, but DON'T use the scooba on carpet because it will make your carpet wet.
I hope you found this helpful.
Sampford IXL A.iRobot
Hi Beckar,
We don't recommend that your Roomba picks up wet food scraps. The Roomba is designed to collect dust and debris from your floors and is compact enough to fit in small spaces such as under couches or beds. Picking up wet scraps might mean that the battery and operating system could potentially be affected by coming in to contact with moisture, it is best to avoid moisture getting inside any appliance.
The Scooba range mentioned by Chris A has been discontinued in Australia, but we are pleased to let you know that we have a fabulous new mopping robot, the Braava. Check it out at:
