Highly recommend the Mazda CX5
I bought my new Mazda CX5 in Sept 2016 and just love driving it. The performance overall is great, comfortable and smooth to drive, good interior layout, cruise control, istop, push button start/stop, electronic hand break to name a few features and great after sales service. This is the first time I have bought a Mazda and expect it not to be my last. The Bluetooth connectivity is easy to use and comes with a variety of other functions. Fuel economy is on par with others of this size. I previously had a Hyundaii IX35 which had a few proble...Read more
ms with the electronics from the get go - so far all has been working well with my new Mazda. I am 5ft 8 and have long legs so find the legroom in the front and back more than adequate. Seats are comfortable. The service team at Bayswater Mazda where I purchased the car were wonderful. have no hesitations in recommending the Mazda CX5. Good safety features too and as I travel a bit - the luggage compartment is a good size.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love Mazda!
This is my second Mazda, as I traded my first 9 year old Mazda 6 sedan for this CX5 brand new. It is an automatic diesel - my old car was a petrol manual. Moving to an automatic, I will never go back to manual. Driving is so smooth and easy now. I found the diesel to have almost as much power as my previous car, which was one of my prerequisites. (You would understand if you have a manual Mazda.) The zoom, zoom is true. I do quite a bit of renovating, so I needed something that I could fit products like new dishwashers, ovens, etc into e...Read more
asily. The back seats fold down flat, so it is a dream to get everything I need into the back. Negates all those delivery fees I'd otherwise have to pay. I also wanted the capacity to tow a trailer if needs be, and this car happily does that too. I did find it took me a while to understand and successfully use some features of the car (a month or two) such as getting the car to understand who I was trying to call, or even turning the car off with the button instead of keys (takes practice). I still fight sometimes with sat nav as I often can't remember the specific words I have to say to get it going in the first place. Running costs are great. A full tank drives about 770kms, and a full tank usually costs me around $55. That's about half the cost of the previous Mazda. Legroom is great, and aicon kicks in really quickly.

Love my Zoom Zoom!
The CX-5 Maxx Sport handles the road so well, for extra Zoom with a simple click of a button you are in sports mode gliding down the freeway. The voice command feature is my favourite tool. While driving you can use the voice command to make calls and navigate. There is plenty of legroom in the front and back making a long road trip very easy. The seats also come down to help cart big items. So far I have no disappointments! My Zoom Zoom runs efficiently, smoothly and you have enough features to keep you discovering.

Great drive
Love driving this car my first SUV and I love the height so far only putting $40/45 dollars fuel and that lasts me about 2 weeks. It's a bit noisy when u first start the car but that goes when it warms up. I thought it would be hard to park but it's quiet easy. The keyless start took a bit to get used to and the engine stop start still bugs me sometimes. The Bluetooth, navigation sytem is one of the things I love plus boot space is also good with push button to lower seats if you need more space. The 2.5 motor has enough grunt to pick up quick so for me it's good all round car which I love

WE LIKE IT
We bought the Maxx with the Safety Pack option. We also got the Sat Nav and front & rear parking sensors. We have only done 11,600 km in 17 months but it is very nice, with no problems so far. I'm a short older lady and had to teach myself to get over the raised edges of the front seats and I get a sore behind after around 3 hours in the seat. I would hope the more expensive models' seats are more comfortable. The driver's seat height adjustment method is a crank handle. I need the seat 20 cranks higher than my husband has it. It seems o...Read more
utdated and inconsistent with the advanced technology in this vehicle. By getting the parking sensors as options on this model, you don't get the on-screen indications of which sensor is going off so sometimes you are unsure where the problem is. Aside of those dislikes, we like everything else although some people might find the 2 litre engine a bit inadequate but it is fine for us. It doesn't cost much to run because we don't use it a lot, but we are averaging 7.6k litres per 100km, which is mostly around the suburbs of Sydney.1 comment
At 3.5 years & 25,000km the car is still like new & just as good as it was when new.

Perfect car when you've got teenage kids
First thing about this car is how good it feels just sitting in it. My wife is very short so had trouble with the visibility in a lot of the SUV's on the market. Once you start driving it.....WOW. It is extremely well behaved on the road. We live in the bush so we drive on dirt roads every day. This car has never had a hint of under steer or the feeling of second guessing as your cornering. Around town, the Mazda is quick and quiet and very easy to park. Out on the freeway, you can drive all day with out getting a stiff back and don't feel tired you get there. Fuel economy is currently sitting at 8.2L and we're not gentle drivers. Over all, we're very happy.

BEST MAZDA YET.
We have owned many Mazdas, upgraded from the Mazda 2 Neo 2014 model. Reason for upgrade- easier for wife to get in and out of. Love the CX 5, took a bit of getting used to however, but once mastered, it is easy to drive, goes well, great fuel economy. The safety pack features - reversing camera, blind spot monitoring etc. are excellent. Only thing not so great about the interior is the arm rest between front seats isn't quite long enough. Other than that ALL GOOD. Would highly recommend.

Pretty good
Incredible mileage on a long trip, Sydney to Yamba and back cost only $50! My only issue is the music console thing keeps on turning itself off and rebooting which is kinda annoying. Everything else is great, heated seats, I agree with another comment that the iStop could be a feature to be turned on instead of de rigueur, but as I have the air con on most of the times, the feature very rarely comes on.

Very good, but not great
Upgraded from our 2013 Grand Touring CX-5 diesel to the 2016 Akera CX-5 (diesel) - overall, very happy with the new car - all the technology works well, very comfortable, handles well, overall quality is 1st class.
Would like the iStop feature to be "OFF" by default, instead of ON. There are a few minor rattles in the dash, as there was in the 2013 model. Standard Toyo tyres are rubbish and lessen the great experience - they "tram track" on uneven road surfaces (OK on Urban roads) (same on our previous 2013 model) and they wear quickly co...Read more

Great car very safe
Great car, very safe and comfortable. A good family car with lots of boot space for a double pram and extra room. The airbags for all passengers is great peace of mind. Interior is sleek and roomy. The car has good power going up hills. Lots of room in the back for passengers.

Great car very happy
We purchased 2015 CX5 Maxxs sport 2ltr fwd, it was purchased for the wife, she gets 8.5l/100 with around town driving. It has done 16000klms with no issues and we are very happy with the performance great finish in and out.
The only improvement I like in this car would be rear seat air vents
Tyre pressure monitor is a great feature, it has saved me some money. Nearly forgot the sports mode can be fun.
Very happy with the car, I don't think we would replace this car anytime soon.

NOT HAPPY
The Car is good to drive but when it comes to power it is very Disappointing .I was told not to get the 2Litre so I Bought the 2.5 thinking it would have more power than my old 2007 Mazda 6 .. 2.3 litre that has plenty of power but when I took the mazda cx5 for a test drive I only took it for a short drive when I should have driven it up some hills My Bad .I took it down the freeway around Calga where my Mazda 6 goes up in 6th gear this Mazda CX 5 goes down to 4th gear until we get to the top of the hill which in my opinion is not steep at all ...Read more
.I can put it in to manual gear and it does get up in 5th gear but only just.Never will I buy a Mazda without taking it for a descent drive up some hills .The other thing I find is even though from the outside it looks easy to look over your should to look for other cars while changing lanes its not as clear view as my Mazda 6 and the last thing I hate about it is the GPS it is an inferior model and only have 3 years of free maps so I will just buy a new Gps to put on the window when it runs out .Good things I like is the I Stop and the way the dash is set out and the overall look of the inside .The electric handbrake takes a little getting used to but I do like it now.I did one time got out of the Car and went shopping and forgot to turn the motor off and even though I had the ignition gadget on me the car didn't turn off so to me it looks like you only need the ignition gadget to be in the car to start the car up .The fuel economy around town is about 7.6 litres per hundred and about 7 litres per 100 on trip but turn the airconditioner on the freeway the fuel economy goes to around 9.8 litres per 100 klmsSimilar opinion? I bought this CX5 GT for my wife just over a year ago and its been great ! So much kit as standard even swiveling LED headlights when turning the steering wheel, awesome !
The new interior is now very European in style and drives and handles a lot better than you would think.
The AWD system is predictive so if its raining and the auto wipers are on it knows it will be slippery and engages 4WD before you accelerate unlike most which only engage when wheels start to slip. Very clever.

Zoom Zoom - and that's just the start!
We went through the reviews about this SUV for over 12 months before deciding to test drive a Mazda CX-5. Of course the dealer gives you the top of the range Akera model, but I was only interested in the diesel turbo performance. So did it pass my test?? After a little negotiation, we agreed to buy the next day. Yes, the critics were right.... performance, interior comfort, space and the electronics??? Everything seems perfect.... or is it?
These are only little gripes but valid I think. Your can't hear the turn signals.... even with the sou...Read more
nd system on relatively low and the turn signal sound turned on high..... I constantly look down to make sure the turn signal did disengage.... Couldn't be that hard to either change the pitch of the turn signal or have it reassigned another sound maybe like a beep instead. If we can have hundreds of sounds on our smartphones, surely Mazda can fix this. Next gripe.... Mazda'a MZD system... Why did they put in USB 2.0 version sockets???? We are already up to USB 3.1 so I would have expected, at the very least, USB 3.0 -after all this would get me about 5 years of future proof.... USB 2.0 is yesterday's technology - but it gets worse.... With larger USB flash drives and mini Hard Drives now commonly larger than 32 GB, why did Mazda stick with the FAT32 only compatibility??? No you can't put a USB stick in that is formatted in NTFS (or the newer exFat format)..... WHAT????? That's ridiculous.... Try formatting a USB stick to FAT32 on a Windows 10 computer.... natively it can't be done without downloading a third party software..... lucky for me I am tech savvy!! So that's it.... minor technical issues but in my case, important to me..... we bought outright and would hope to keep for about 10 years - not being one to turn my cars over. I can see the quality of a Japanese built vehicle and I am sure we will get many years of enjoyment. I am lead to believe that the 2.0 Lt petrol version is a little under powered.... but let me say you will not be disappointed with the 2.2 Lt diesel Twin Turbo and worth the little extra in dollar value. The SatNav?? Can only find a female voice.. SatNav is supplied by NavTeq..... Would much have preferred a Garmin product... you get three years of updates then you pay. My old Garmin gets Lifetime Updates.... shame it's not a type of "plugin" so you can choose the brand SatNav you want - would give you choice and make it a lot more competitive between the brands. All in all, a brilliant motor vehicle and a pleasure to drive.... and love the colour! Soul Red3 comments

the bumperbar.... only one problem, when you want to install the hitch with the towball on it, the safetychain hole is right at the back of the hitch. You have to lay on your back on the ground, and attached the safety chain. I certainly won't be laying on my back as I approach 60 years - LOL. Because it is so far under the car, the safety chain on the trailer is now too short! This is a bad design. My advice is don't buy the genuine Mazda towpack for the CX5. we don't have more options is something I don't understand as I have come from a Garmin GPS which is very pleasant to view. I play a lot of music from my USB stick (over 1000 songs) plays ok but not perfect. year warranty - bit sad as we bought 2 years too early and only received the 3 year warranty. Under warranty the battery was replaced, however the vehicle has been running well with over 42000 klm on the clock. The Yokohama's that were on the vehicle have given up and others have noted about the poor wear performance, so will be looking for a better wearing tyre. We look after the car and always have it serviced on time..... diesel engines can become a problem if you don't look after them. The other missing piece is the Android Auto and Apple - have been told that a Mazda Modification in on it's way (but at a price). Great buy, loving it so far
This is my first SUV sort of car, after all the Sedans I have owned. I am loving driving it. performance, handling of this car is excellent. we are family of three so prefect for us. I was initially buying GT but changed it to akera later. happy with my decision as I am loving all the safety features came with Akera especially Adapative cruise control.
one of the basic thing I noticed it should have is light in the front dashboard glove box.
cant comment much as owned it for just a month, but love driving it so far.

Great buy, very happy so far
This is my first SUV, and I'm very happy with the purchase so far. I selected the Akera model for the extra tech and it doesn't disappoint. The ‘Lane Keep Assist’ system is quite remarkable as it uses multiple camera's in the windshield (behind the rear vision mirror) to detect the lane markings on the road, and once detected the vehicle will steer itself to maintain position within the lane. Any attempts to remove your hands from the steering wheel however, will result in it deactivating which is understandable as it's not 100% effective dep...Read more
ending on road conditions. Combined with the Radar Cruise Control, medium to long distance driving is such a pleasure as the vehicle is doing so much of the work for you. Just toggle in your desired speed using the steering wheel and you can bring your feet back and just lightly hold the wheel and enjoy the ride. It's uncanny how good the system works! The Diesel has plenty of power and acceleration through all 4 wheels and is really well balanced. The interior is comfy and well designed, however it's taking me a bit longer to get used to that real Diesel 'clangy' sound of the engine, albeit really noticeable mainly during acceleration. The Satnav works fine with the latest updates however it's a bit sluggish when around the city with the high level of detail it’s trying to display. In fact, the entire MZD Connect system quite sluggish at times. It's frustrating sometimes having to wait for it to initialize before the reverse parking camera is displayed in a quick engine start / reverse scenario. My main gripe though is the Bose sound system. For a 9 speaker system, the sound is very 'frontwards' and not well balanced at all. If you fade the sound to the rear speakers to balance better, the sound is very underwhelming and lacks any bass. It's quite disappointing for an audiophile like me as my 14 year old Honda Accord Euro with stock audio system sounds just as good as this. My second minor gripe is the iStart system. Yes, it seems to work ok mostly and starts the engine quite quickly as soon as you start releasing pressure on the brake pedal, however it can catch you out at roundabouts unexpectedly and can be an annoyance in frequently stop-start traffic jams. You can switch it off easily each trip with a button to the right of the steering wheel, but why Mazda has failed to offer a more permanent option of disabling iStart is both frustrating and bemusing, These gripes aside, it's a very nice, well balanced SUV that's extremely enjoyable to drive and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering purchasing a SUV in the future.Similar opinion? Love my Car
Purchased the Maxx Sport (petrol) July 2015 and have to say couldn't be happier, despite having a couple of small issues. The car is light, comfortable, easy to drive, and very economical (and I agree the official mileage blurb is not quite the reality, but it is efficient). Did pay extra but LOVE all the safety features - especially the warning signals on the side mirrors, and the dimming on the rear-view mirror - which is fantastic at night. I am 5'2" and my partner 6'2" and we both fit - although we havent put him to the test on a long dr...Read more
ive. I wanted a much smaller car with better safety features than our 2002 Honda Odyssey (which we both LOVED), and the Mazda has plenty of safety features, excellent boot space for a smaller car, but have to say really only fits four adults comfortably as the middle rear passenger seat is not comfortable for long trips. Short trips, no probs. I have had a couple of reasons to ring Mazda and so far have been very happy with the service recieved. I too had the issue of the GPS not working - rang Mazda and they immediately updated - absolutely no fuss, which is important as I am not a tech person and I just wanted it sorted. I find the GPS quite intuitive as is the whole entertainment system, which is mostly due to the excellent central controls. My preference would see the ignition button moved, but everything else is well placed on the console. When looking to replace our Odyssey, we looked at Honda, Toyota, Subaru and a couple of others. We could have spent a lot more money for a different car and maybe even a better car, but we did not want to spend a lot of money so chose this model Mazda due to the combination of price, efficiency and safety features. Nearly 9 months later, I am still very, very happy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What kind of fuel economy are you getting from a 2.5 petrol? I'm looking at picking up a 2015-16 GT and in the research phase now - just want to get an idea of the 'real world' economy rather than the sticker claims which are conducted in a lab.

I did a trip to Wagga on the weekend and achieved 8 litres per 100 km for a trip total of 1900 kms which was very nice to see, when I fill the vehicle (I only use 98 octane) the range shows up as 717 km. KF 9/17 AWD model Sports.
In city fuel economy is pathetic. It's like the car's always on the 1st n 2nd gear. :(
