Worst laptop ever - DO NOT BUY -
I can only afford the Core i5 - the basic introductory/cheapest version of the surface book 2. I was drawn to this over an iPad pro because it supposedly runs on windows and not an iOS (phone) and so I thought it would be more powerful. But this is absolutely ridiculous. It cannot even process word document. If I have a word document open (500 pages), it WILL crash.
I do not expect a computer to crash just with a word document open. This is the worst thing you can spend your money on at all.

The worst customer service ever!
So, in Feb 2020 we bought a computer Surface Book 2, from JB HIFI, the keyboard stopped working on the 17th March. Until now, I am waiting for a new keyboard, guess what. It's been almost 10 weeks I am without a computer, I have to use my own computer to work, and MS just don't care, Besides their CRM doesn't work, every time I have to explain all the information I've been dealing with. Serious, if you want a computer that works or at least a support that can help you, look for another provider, they are definitely the WORST!
Purchased in January 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Online Store for A$1,763.00.

So you want to buy a Microsoft product? Do not do it!
Do not buy! Do not buy! Do not buy any microsoft device! Have you seen all the negative reviews? Has anyone from Microsoft replied to any of them? That is what you get when dealing with Microsoft: "You are in trouble? We don't care!".
I damaged the SD card slot on my Surface Book II. That happened just before I sent the item to Microsoft in Sydney to fix its charging issue (which now I know is a common problem). I was just hit hard when I heard that they can't repair my device's charging problem because the SD card slot is broken!!! No one to...Read more
ld me this device is not repairable and can only be replaced. And no one told me that I had to live with a critical function issue (not charging) because a couple of SD card wires are broken. That is the worst product design, service design and customer care I have ever experienced. I was trying to find where and how I was informed that the device is not repairable when I was buying this item. I cannot find sales terms, good job making it hard to find Mr. Gates! Why no one told me that the device is not repairable? How was I supposed to see it while sales terms are not supplied with the item? I know, there are things that you know and you look for it while buying a device, but this is not something you expect. Where was I supposed to look? The lesson for me is that next time I decided to buy anything, I'll sit in the shop for two hours and read every line of the sales terms. Something that you shouldn't have to do in a market where there is trust. Yes, trust, something that is now a rare thing, especially with Microsoft. Asking about performance, it's not bad. Although after buying it, you will realise that the hing design is a disaster. Also build is flimsy and can easily deform if for example you hold it in one hand with a firm grip at the hing side. Worked for me more or less, but with that service and customer care, stay away!Purchased in November 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$2,195.00.

Don't buy this laptop
After 11 months the connection between the keyboard and screen resulted in the keyboard not being usable. I took this into Harvey Norman where i purchased the laptop. Unfortunately if you have an issue ANY RETAILER of Microsoft laptops must post them into Microsoft be looked at, usually a new latptop is then shipped back to the retailer for you to collect. This means if you have an issue expect to be without a laptop for at least 7 days.

ew replacement laptop the display connection failed resulting again in the laptop being unusable. I requested a refund from Microsoft however they refused and am i again without a laptop waiting for my third surfacebook 2 which i no longer have any faith in. Do yourself a favour and don't buy this laptop, the customer service experience so far has been the worst i've ever had from a laptop manufacturer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Screen Separated
Loved it for numerous months until the Screen Separated. The batteries behind the screen expanded and pushed the screen forward. There is not a 1/2" crack in the top of the screen and the batteries keep swelling. I consider this a fire hazard.

Good all rounder
Having come from a 2016 & 2017 HP Spectre x360 and a cheaper Lenovo Yoga 520, i've had no issues whatsoever.
My other two laptops were noisy (fans) with both laptops being fixed by their respective manufacturers many times. I bought this after my Surface Pro died and so far this guy has not given me any grief. No noise, no niggly faults just works flawlessly. The battery lasts all day for me and the base model even lets me game (Steam - EAW). I've watched TV shows on it and the picture is excellent.
It's not as nimble as an SP but given its a 13+" laptop I didn't expect to be.
Higher spec models are a bit expensive, but considering Apple, HP and Lenovo flagships are just as expensive it's all par for the course.

Almost impossible to write with. However after three exchanges my Surface is gr8.
This is my second Surface 2 in less than 3 months. I bought a new Surface 2 from Harvey Norman in Auburn. I had to take it back because as I was writing the screen would suddenly change in size. Harvey Norman tried it and it did the same to them. They exchanged it for another new Surface 2 which does the same. Now working ok but have to use a bluetooth mouse as the touchpad has I believe a vulnerability. I informed Microsoft Security but they want far too much information to act on - up to them.

ring my emails. Best strategy: ignore the customer when you can't win! Worse, they send the device to my work place without telling me, and even didn't write the complete address. Courier guy had to call me and ask for the complete address. What if I left that company? What if I didn't want the company to receive this package? That's how Microsoft treats their customers.
