Good car at the start but poor service and warranty!
I have a 2011 Outlander 2.5l engine with luxury pack containing all Outlander could offer at that time. I was happy with the car. Specially value for money etc. BUT, 3/5/13 my engine stopped in exit ramp of Tullamarine freeway (Dynon Rd Exit). After I restarted the car the check engine light came on and the engine had erratic behavior when ideal or in drive at complete stop. Since then the car has been to Mitsubishi service center 5 times and collectively over 4 month. They even charged me once for the repair which did not fix the problem. Afte...Read more
r the 3rd time when the light came on, as I had to travel at that time, I contacted the dealership and they said this is a minor problem and I can drive the car, I may only have higher fuel consumption. They assured me there is no major problem with the car. I had a long trip to regional Victoria for a few days. Now that I think about it, they have advised me on something they weren't certain about. They still don't know what the problem with me car is. They have put my safety at risk by giving me this advice. They had the car in June for 1 month and it only took 5 min for the check engine light to come back on when I got it back. The car is with them from 10th of July to date. I asked for a refund as I believe car is not road worthy, still under warranty and not repairable since over 4 month is not a reasonable time for repair. They refuse to give me an answer on the refund and so far I have not even received a phone call from them. Good value for money, gadgets Poor customer service, bad warranty service, lack of technical knowledge

bishi are stalling to do the needed warranty work. Other issues likes front tyres chewing out 3 times (normal road use only), indicator issues and seat belt failing. Extremely disappointed with the vehicle, in particular the very poor warranty support. Never buy another Mitsubishi. Hyundai all the way for me!Don't think about buying a Hyundai, turbo and engine failure at 150,000k others have had similar problems too. Chinese users say vehicles look good but poor quality parts.

My MY12 XLS Outlander is terrible. My transmission failed after 500km, the brake pedal squeaks all the time (dealer couldn't find a problem. Funny that). Wind whistle from drivers side mirror, Rattles and squeaks that are not acceptable after such a short time. Road noise is horrendous and the suspension so firm you get to enjoy jolting over every bump in the road. A trip from Canberra to Sydney leaves you with a sore back from the harsh ride. My first and last Outlander!!
Interior space, cargo space, split tailgate, interior features such as reverse camera, Bluetooth and dash info display
Uncomfortable seats, harsh suspension, horrendous road noise and tyre roar. Squeaks and rattles appearing and not even two years old.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2010 XLS
Overall I have found the Outlander to be a great, all round car! It's definitely the most practical car we've ever owned, what with towing horse floats, driving up ski field access roads, the occasional off road stint to tramping tracks (in New Zealand). The good points of this car for sure outweigh the negatives.
- great for towing (albeit occasionally)
- uncomfortable rear 3rd row seats, but we don't mind as they're only used occasionally
- excellent split rear tailgate
-massive boot space
- the seats fold away very well for occasions w...Read more

Love that car
My 2005 Activ was written off by a truck. I truly loved that car so it was a no-brainer to buy another Outlander. This time I chose a 2009 and its great. The tailgate seat is excellent and is so helpful for getting heavier items into the boot. Being tall and having tall relatives, the head and leg space is fantastic.
5 of us went to Marion Bay for a girls weekend - very comfortable and everyone was impressed with the back seats being able to lean back and still have heaps of room for the luggage (and there was lots of that)
Controls on the steering wheel, drop down tailgate, roominess
The beeping on entry and exit drives me mad. I still prefer the foot brake in the 2005 model.

Not Awesome but Good
This is our first SUV, we got this during the runout sale Oct 2012. Got the 2WD with the bluetooth, reverse sensor thrown in. We live in the Hills district and driving to work means going up and down lots of hills and the car has not missed a beat. The 2.4 engine is more than capable of overtaking on the highway. Haven't notice much noise but then when you have kids, a wife and toys rattling in the car its never going to be a problem. Lots of storage space and when we moved houses it could take more than half the boxes from one bedroom. I use E...Read more

Top vehicle
I bought this vehicle to use for work, I am very happy with it, I like the thought that has gone into the design, a great setup with 12v outlets front and back, the tailgate that doubles as a seat and reduced the length of the rear door, this is my first Mitsubishi and I really like it
Good rugged designs, well thought out designed as a car to take away for the weekend
More of a car to take off road than a sports car, I wouldn't want to corner too fast in it

Good value for the 2wd LS, missing a sat nav but the current trend is to use a smart phone and it has a handy spot for the smart phone mount. Ride is smooth and fuel economy seems ok.

Tyres losing grip on a steep driveway? Is that in 2wd or 4wd mode?

Terrible
We bought the 7 seater Outlander after being sold as a 7 seater outlander. After injury occurred we were then informed second row is an "occasional seat". No where in the brochure does it say this! It says "seats up to 7 seven people comfortably". Hardly, in fact, dangerous. Look for another vehicle if you are counting on using the second row seats. Can't even be driven on a sealed road and Mitsubishi don't want to know about it! Massive disapointment.

the seats are made. I wonder if upholsterers can add foam and proper support under the seat and still keep it thin enough to close. Definitely don't get this 7 seater thinking it will carry 7 people. If you can afford to have more than two kids than you can afford to buy a more serious people mover. Your expectations of the extra two back seats is unreasonable. It's clearly only designed for short trips picking up extra kids from primary school.

Don't Buy this car
I foolishly chose this car over a Mazda CX7 and have regretted it ever since. The cabin noise is horrific, the handling is sloppy and the longer I have it the more I find wrong with it - it really is an embarrassment to Mitsubishi. Do yourself a favour and look at Mazda or Subaru or Honda. I moved from a honda CRV to this - maybe that was my biggest error - never never again.
Paint work is cheap and easily scratched, plastics are easily marked, the carpets are cheap the seat covers are over priced, the torque gets worse, after 12 months the car is about 5 years of noises and rattles - a very disappointing purchase and their diamond warrenty - is a load of rubbish when put to the test!!!!

Good car, comfortable, easy to drive
Pretty good car for the money. I got the LS with platinum pack so its got Leather, heated front seats, reversing camera, bluetooth etc. Really comfortable to drive and love the look of the front end of the car. The 4 cyl 2.4 is pretty gutless as mentioned previously, however should be expected from this sized car/engine combo with 4x4 and 2x4 modes.
The bluetooth handsfree system works really well too, after talking to a few people whilst driving and asking how clear my voice was they didn't even realise I was in the car!
Oh and can't beat the warranty either.
Comfortable, great warranty, interior, front end looks
2.4L engine is pretty sluggish

Not bad.
I bought this car for the boot and rear seat space, the ability to do some light off roading to get to camping and bushwalking spots, the safety, the economy and the driving dynamics and comfort on road. For the past 3 years I have used it for my daily 90km highway commute at 110km/h, a fair bit of country road and gravel road driving and some limited towing and off-road use. So 106,000km later here'S my summary:

Great allrounder with above average features.
I have owned my Outlander VRX 2011 for 6 months now and have come to the following conclusions.
Style:
The Outlander's new nose is distinct from other models on the road, it gives it an aggressive stance and with the chrome trims and fogs lights it looks more like a sedan on steroids than an SUV. The privacy glass, chrome door handles (which don't scratch), duel chrome exhaust and other chrome trimmings add to the look of class and help it stand out from the other models.

After another 600km still have not done a 2nd fill up & still have a 3rd of a tank of fuel remaining.. We have over 1300km on the clock towards our 1st 1500km service. Outlander VRx is a great car but with some annoying flaws
On purchasing our new Outlander VRx in 2010, we were very impressed by it's level of equipment, good looks and Powerful V6 motor. Having lived with vehicle for over a year now, there is still no doubt that this is a great car and value for money, probably beats most of, if not all of it's competitors. However, there are one or two gripes that I have, which may be of concern to a potential buyer of this car.
The first is road noise. Although the VRx gives an awesome ride and is outrageously smooth and comfortable on the road, it seems to pick...Read more
up road noise and amplify it, almost like the walls of a Cathedral. It somehow then directs this road noise, straight to the drivers ear-holes and drives you insane. Mitsubishi were obviously aware of this problem when developing the top of range VRx model and I envisage a committee of Mitsubishi engineers, sitting around a table, with the chief banging his fist and demanding a solution. The first engineer suggests added sound proofing and a modification to the chassis, however the cost would put the VRx closer to the price bracket of it's German rivals. The accountant, who has been allowed to sit in on this meeting also, then pipes up and says, how about we put a bloody great Speaker in the trunk and allow the driver to drown the road noise out. And so it was to pass, instead of making the Outlander quieter, they made it even louder. Which brings neatly to the Stereo, or should I say, 'Mitsubishi Multi Communication System'. There is no way, anyone will convince me, that this unit was designed in Japan. In fact, I would not be at all surprised to find out, that it was dreamt up by a team of highly trained Dolphins. Let's be honest, Mitsubishi's relationship with Sea dwelling creatures is well documented and never turns out well for anyone concerned, but that's another story.5 comments

Great car
Love the car, easy to drive. Would think though that when we pay this much for a car that it would have some more speccy details. I got the basic model and not FWD as i dont do that. But i think Bluetooth should be a standard inclusion. Also Auto Headlights.
I used to have a Holden Berlina and it had electric seats and the Auto Lights. Would make life easier.
Not ideal if you have more than 2 small children in car seats, the middle seat doesn't hold a car seat and my 7 year old only just fits.
The boot is a good size though. Over all a great car
