So much smarter than my last BotVac
I had a Hoover for 3 years and it would bump about and get caught, miss spots, never get back to base by itself!!! Fast forward 3 years and my latest Neato D80 BotVac is a pleasure to watch, so smart, does the whole house in an hour and 20 mins, finds its way straight back to base for a recharge......picks up everything....fantastic, can't wait for the next one in 3 years, might make me a coffee at the same time !!

I love this thing
It does a fantastic job of methodically cleaning the carpet. It is efficient and perfect. Can you please make a lawn mower neato!? haha. The only downside is cleaning the hair and empty tank.
I have had neato for almost 2 years and couldnt live without one. Thank you. d

He really is great...but sometimes we call him bad names
I bought Finn (that's Finn Neato..say it fast..(we name everything)..anyway) because I was due to have some fairly major knee surgery and, with 3 big dogs and a fairly large house, I wanted to take the vacuuming pressure off the household.
My husband and son were skeptical, but he really has been a tremendous help. He cleans wood, tiles, even our thick pile rug in the bedroom, all with ease, his battery life is excellent and I also love how easy he is to take apart and clean. His interface is really straightforward and he's chatty enough to...Read more
alert you to any problems he needs help with. For such a small unit he picks up a surprising amount of dirt. On the downside, I do think he is still quite clumsy and I had higher expectations for his manoeuvring and obstacle avoidance. He gets stuck under our (heavy) dining chairs and has tipped one over which landed on him - and he continued vacuuming with the chair on top of him. He also rides up the bases of our bar stools and then becomes beached and can't get back down - this is when the name calling starts. I appreciate that small objects need to be moved out of the way, but I would expect that he could cope with chairs! Knowing all of this I would buy him again and I hope that he has some longevity as that was my main concern in reading other Neato reviews.

Fantasic machine
I have had Roomba's before but the Neato Connected is much better, I like the mapping an navigation and that it does not bump into furniture like the Roomba, plus the bigger bin and filter. I got mine on a 30 free return from Australia Robotic, just wan't sure after having Roomba's. I'll be keeping it for sure.

Thankful, some minor cons
Bought this after I moved into a new unit that was fully carpeted across all bedrooms, lounge and dining area. I have a cat with long and thick fur and thought that it would be an absolute nightmare for me to be vacuuming every week. Ever since I purchased this I've had no regrets - I've not had the need to vacuum for weeks. I program my Botvac to clean every alternate day, 4x per week. It has saved me so much time and I'm relieved as I have a bad back too.
Cons:
- The filter is hard to clean as the dust sticks to it. Cleaning the tray can ...Read more

I love it
One of the best things I have ever bought (for now anyhow). It's clever, thorough and saves me time. I am always amazed at how much dust and pet hair it collects. It's slow and methodical and I think that's the secret to it's success. I love it.

Absolutely fantastic IF reliability & battery life do not become an issue
We have had a Botvac 85 for 8 months now, purchased after a lot of research. Up to now we were of the opinion they were a bit gimicky. It gets a run 2 or 3 times a week over tiled & carpeted floors. Our house is not small but on one level. The Botvac does a great job, only requiring the house built in system to be used about every 6 weeks. Of course more frequent attention is required in small confined spaces.
The suction, speed & versatility are excellent. We have a dog & cat inside & the Botvac does a remarkable job & one wonders how so much...Read more

Wow! We're impressed!
We spent a bit of time researching robot vacs, we were a bit cautious given that it's fairly new technology so we wanted to wait to be sure before spending $1000+!
Our biggest issue was that the other models all seemed to have tiny bins - the neato's bin isn't huge either but it's still about 50% bigger than most. We have two dogs so our biggest issue is dog hair, the neato laps it up. We have it programmed for an hour each day and our floors are virtually hair free. If you're home when it's running it is reasonably loud, about the same as a ...Read more

CREZasked
Is it supposed to shout off if the bin gets full? The one time my got full it did not shut off.

Mine does, beeps a lot to let you know.
Thank you Lisa, maybe mine beeped and I wasn't in the area. I know it didn't shut off but I really can't say it didn't beep. That is good to know.
It should beep

I have a shag rug & wondering if it can handle that ?
3 answers
Not very well. It's not really powerful enough to deal with this & the wheels will struggle to drive it around. You can place the magnetic strips under the edges of the rug to keep it off if you'd like, I suppose.
I've got a super high pile rug and after trying it a few times it now just avoids it. Normal low pile rugs it handles no problem.
Use the orange brush that comes with it

Shut off the "return to dock", now can't find where to reinstate it. Any help?
1 answer
I would just place it back on the dock & press the start button again. If this does not work, turn off the switch in the bottom left hand corner under the bin lid & turn it on again. Hope this helps.

Update: since I have had my botvac the battery has died twice - I would have expect better for the price but I do give it a massive workout! I still love it but there is room for improvement.
