There is food stuck in the white part of the jar. How do I take off the white part in the bottom of the jar?

Philips S.Philips Avent
Hi there,
Thanks for asking this question. You can clean the parts which can be taken off by immersing them in warm soapy water for about half an hour to soften the residuals and then remove the food residuals by using a brush.

Same thing happened to me. I contacted Philips Advent and was told 'not to worry' about the mould and that it is still safe. Tried cleaning with cirtic acid bur the area is difficult to access and the mould is still there. Very disappointed with the product and poor customer service. I have been trying unsuccessfully to return the product for a refund.

Hello, I made lots of food for my son yesterday, and this morning when I got up to put the steamer blender away, It smelt funky. I could see brown in the bottom of the water tank so I rinsed it with water and brown water came out. Does that mean all the food I made yesterday could be bad and needs to be thrown out? I've only had the machine a month or so. Am currently descaling it, but don't know if the food I made is safe.

I used my Philips advent blender and steamer twice. And suddenly the blender stopped working. If you could be suggest me why this is so, it would be helpful.
1 answer
Philips S.Philips Avent
Hi Surbhi, thanks for your question. There are a couple of things that could be at play:
- The blade unit is blocked, because there is too much food in the jar.
Switch off the appliance and process a smaller quantity. Do not let the device blend for more than 30 seconds.
- The jar is in the steaming position.
Turn around the jar and start blending.
Trying different electrical outlets.
If this doesn't solve the issue, please contact us on 1300 363 391 or through http://philips.com/support/.

It was the first time I used the product today and I made a couple batches of puréed veg however when I got to steaming the potatoes, it may some funny noises and liquid started leaking out of the bottom. Quite a lot too! I’m scared to use it Incase the water got into the motor. what should I do?
2 answers
Sorry to hear that you had this trouble with your appliance. I never had anything of the kind happening to me. Maybe contacting the manufacturer is a good idea.
Philips S.Philips Avent
Hi Baxta, thanks for your questions.
First of all, we're sorry to hear this happened. Please take note of the following two possible causes:
- You have not assembled the lid properly on the jar. Assemble the lid properly on the jar. See chapter 'Using the appliance'.
- There is too much food in the jar. Switch off the appliance and process a smaller quantity.
If you feel both of these potential reasons weren't why the leaking happened, please reach out to us. We'd like to figure this one out for you. You could reach us on 1300 363 391 or on http://philips.com/support/.

Shanushree Rasked
Hi I have purschased this Philips product and it works perfectly fine and it's quite handy to prepare baby food for travelling as well. I am a little concered about the steaming application particularly because the body is of plastic. I am worried will it have any toxic effect on food as we regularly steam and the plastic body might release some toxic gases in the food. Do you have this product with stainless steel or any other metal instead of plastic ? Should I worry about the plastic at all?

Philips S.Philips Avent
Hello Shanushree, thank you for reaching out to us. We can understand your concern as you naturally want nothing but the best for your baby. We can assure you, though, that the Combined Steamer and Blender is safe to use. All the materials that come into direct contact with food and/or water are made of BPA-free materials. Therefore, the Combined Steamer & Blender is perfectly safe for your baby. We hope that we were able to comfort you with this answer. Bronkaasked
Hi, my steamer doesn't work anymore. It beeps all the time if I put it into working position. On the other hand, blender works just fine. It seems as if sensor is the tank is broken - is that possible?
1 answer
Philips S.Philips Avent
Hello Bronka, thank you for your question. Since only the steamer stopped functioning, we suspect the device needs to be descaled. Follow the steps below to properly descale the water tank:
1. Make sure the appliance is switched off and unplugged.
2. Add one sachet of citric acid (10g) to 200ml of warm water. Alternatively, you can use a solution of 150 ml water and 50 ml of white vinegar (8%).
3. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
4. Close the lid of the filling opening.
5. The jar (without food inside) needs to be in the steaming position.
6. Plug the appliance back in and turn the control knob to the steaming position.
7. Switch off the appliance after 5 - 6 minutes of steaming and unplug it. Approximately 150ml water remains in the water tank.
8. Pour the remaining used solution out of the water tank.
9. Rinse the tank thoroughly with fresh water several times.
10. Fill the tank with 200ml water and run two complete steaming cycles without any food in the jar (until the appliance switches off automatically) before you use the appliance again. Make sure to wait for 10 minutes between each steaming cycle.
11. Check, if the water tank is completely empty from water and leave the filling opening open to avoid bacterial growth.
We hope this solves the issue with your steamer. Otherwise, please give us a call at 1300 363 391 (0800 658 224 for New Zealand) so we can further investigate with you.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team

The green parts turn black after apple steaming any safe way to clean it?
I tried hand was & dishwasher & vingar
1 answer

Hi Ingy,
Good question! After each use the steamer blender should be completely cleaned. To get rid of residue we would recommend to immerse the parts in warm soapy water for about half an hour to soften the residuals and remove them using a brush.

I bought this and tried to steam babies veggies. After about 30 mins the veggies were still hard. What am I doing wrong and how long does it take just to steam a small batch? There's only so much water i can put on at a time.
1 answer
Philips S.Philips Avent
Hi Stacey,
Thanks for your question. We regret hearing that you've been unable to cook the veggies the way you want to, so let's see if we can be of help. There are a few things that we like to share with you in order to - hopefully - fix your issue. There can be several reasons why the steam function does not work (properly). The most important thing is that the jar is positioned in the right way (in steaming position). Besides that, it's possible that there is too much scale in the water tank. Is this something that you've already tried? Of course, this is not applicable to you if you just bought the device. After one steaming cycle, the device needs about 10 minutes to cool down until a new steaming cycle can be started. It could be the case that you have to wait a bit longer. If the steam function is still not working it could be that the safety switch is broken. In that case, we advise you to reach out to our specialists on specialists on 1300 363 391 if you're based in Australia or on 0800 658 224 if you're based in New Zealand. They're more than willing to assist you further. Please know that you can always reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter (@PhilipsCare) as well. Good luck!

We'd like to ask you to reach out to our product specialists on 1300 363 391 if you're based in Australia or 0800 658 224 if you're based in New Zealand.
