Best holiday
Took a cruise out of Melbourne and around NZ earlier this year (2019), including Fiordland (probably the highlight). Nothing I could complain about. All staff great. Ship wonderful. Locations visited were great. Everything is taken care of for you. Food was wonderful, huge variety, wonderfully presented and all included in the price. You can of course spend extra to go to the high-end restaurants on-board, which we did a couple of times and was worth doing, as they were 5 star and truly special. Would certainly go on another Princess Cruise.

Amazing ship sailing around Japan
We did this cruise around Japan called the flower cruise. It was fantadtic and sure enough the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The cruise was fantastic. Our cabin was a good size, we had the port hole obstructed to try it out although port holes are not worth it as the windows are so dirty with salt spray. I would go balcony if you can afford it and if you spend alot of time in cabin. The tours from the ship were all fantastic and all had English speaking guides but make sure you book the tours where it says English Speaking Guide. The food on the ship is incredible and the entertainment were spectacular. It really is like a city on a ship, it was a very good holiday. Highly recommended!

Cruise Deposits can catch you out if your Credit Card Details change and can not be used on affiliated Cruise Lines.
In 2016 my wife and I both paid $100 each as a deposit on future cruises.
At the time we understood the deposit could be used on any Princess Cruises or Affiliated companies and if not used within two years the money would be fully refunded.
We tried to use the deposit towards a P&O cruise but was told the deposit could not be used with P&O. While I was annoyed I thought it was possible I had misunderstood the speel but was pretty sure I had not misheard. While we have done a number of subsequent cruises none have been with Princess Cruises.

Disappointing
We’ve sailed on the Golden Princess quite a few times and will be sorry to see her go to P&O. We even did a 75 night cruise on her once. However, apart from coming off her this March with the flu (not Princess’s fault), we had a really disappointing experience because of the cruise director - PJ. The story is too long to tell here although I do have a 2 page letter I sent him. The 3rd letter/note in a 2 week cruise. No response. We felt deceived, disappointed and at a loss to understand the arrogance. Hope not to meet him again on future cruises as he really spoilt this one!

Upgrades that are downgrades
We were looking forward to this cruise for my 70th birthday from Sydney to New Zealand. We booked 17 months in advance (April 2017) and were given Cabin 123 on Deck 15. We were travelling with friends who paid less as they had obstructed views we opted to pay nearly $1000 more for our cabin when we found out where this would be. When it came to paying the balance of our cost in September 2018 we noticed we had been given a so called upgrade without being notified. This upgrade was on Deck 9 Cabin 623. We had a tender boat underneath our balco...Read more
ny and the only time we had clear vision was when the tender was not there. We would sit on our balcony and depending on what way the wind was blowing we could smell smoke. We thought this was coming from the cabin next door until we had a stroll around the ship only to find we were above the deck where smokers gathered. Princess said in correspondence that the Cabin on Deck 15 had obstructed views but I have photos disproving this. We had the obstructed views in Cabin 623 on Deck 9. We did suggest in our correspondence that the new upgrade be given to the new guests or at least a refund to us. Up until this cruise I have always been impressed by Princess. Our first cruise being Ruby in 2009 and we were so impressed we were looking forward to this one. We have had several other cruises this was our 8th and this has never happened before. Princess staff blamed our Travel Agent who booked the cruise saying she had not ticked some particular box. I beg to differ this agent has booked all our other cruises and the cabin allocated to us at the beginning has always been the one after payment. Our Agent and us wrote and spoke to Princess re changing us back to our original cabin but this was to no avail. My husband will not cruise with Princess again after all the upset. This was supposed to be a special cruise for me. I am chancing it again but I will be travelling with my cousin on the Coral Princess next February lets hope I am not disappointed again as this will be my last cruise with Princess. There are some good remarks re Majestic. The staff and the food were excellent. The destination was beautiful. Most of the entertainment on board was great but disliked lining up an hour before the show. Disappointed with the main area mid ships where there was always music and entertainment there as I did not think it was big enough for the amount of guests on board, would have liked to see more seating and dance floor. Hoping for a better cruise next time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

WORST CRUISE EVER
We travelled from Melbourne to New Zealand. We've been on about 15 cruises, but this has been the worst by far. The food was mostly cold, most of the staff had an 'I don't care attitude,' the pools were cold, and the spa too hot. Staff would rather say that they had ran out of certain food items, then replenish stock. All in all, we felt as though no one really cared about the passengers. I'll never go on his ship ever again.

What a rip-off
As a regular cruiser Princess was a top cruise company, until Feb/Mar 2022. No Happy Hour (it was a great social event) not a big booze up.New wine menu..$15 a glass of wine, formally $8.50. Buy a bottle $43 (sorry not put on board,)minimum bottle cost $55.
Well Princess when we get our new terminal in 2020 bring on the competition.

We had a great time and love Golden Princess
My partner and I (in our mid sixties) sailed on golden princess from Melbourne to NZ and returned on 25 February 2022. Took our two sons aged in their thirties. The weather in NZ was sunny and mid-twenties on most days, so glad we purchased a balcony stateroom. The ship was able to birth at all ports on the itinerary, using tenders to get ashore for a couple. The food on board including the buffet was really good. Entertainment was terrific, but, if you are seeing a show in the Princess Theatre, I recommend grabbing your seats at least half an ...Read more
hour before the show - no reserving seats for others is permitted, which is fair enough. The service was very friendly. Watch some bar staff as they sometimes default to the dearer spirit options when mixing your drinks unless you specify what you want- e.g. they'll charge for black label JW instead of using standard red label. A round of four drinks cost me $78.00! - but then I learnt to be more specific. We all had a great time, enjoyed NZ and especially love the Golden Princess.Similar opinion? Retire this ship
10 night cruise Sydney to North Queensland. Due to plumbling problems, had to use public facilities on the ship for the first four days. Rather than take responsibility for the issue, staff tried to blame us. More like a backpacker experience than an upmarket cruise. Food was excellent but nothing you dont get on Royal Caribbean. Will never cruise Princess again. 22/05...UPDATE. Have been contacted by customer liaison, very apologetic and keen to please. Have recieved a sizable discount to try another cruise with them. It takes a while, but really good customer assistance from head office. Made us feel justified with our complaint, Ill let you know how the next one goes.

Happy Holidays
We booked with our travel agent.
The trip matched our expectations.
There were no unexpected expenses,we knew the alcohol would be extra and we had pre booked our shore excursions.
We were vert happy with our balcony cabin and the staff very helpful.
We dined in the Bernini Restaurant most nights. The food was first class and our waiters Florenta and Emmanuel so lovely and helpful.
We went to the theatre most nights and the shows were great, especially loved

entertainment lacking
Even when the acts are bad - if they are friends with the cruise director he gives them a good review and they get booked back again and again. However, some of the acts that the audience loved - get sent bad reviews from the cruise director because he personally didnt like them..or they were not in his drinking club. SO sadly its alot of the same old ( not so good) acts. Wont be cruising again on this line

First Time Cruiser
I was on the recent cruise from Brisbane to the Whitsundays and back I was very disappointed I am 65 I felt it was depressing and was disgusted to see people over eating poor entertainment aim at the nursing home set and then having to disembark in Cairns so I could get back to Brisbane due to the weather in time to get to work which cost my sister and myself a hotel overnight and flights to Brisbane I will never recommend this cruise to anyone, the only good thing I can say is the majority of the staff do work hard to please . It was a poor example of what cruises are about and they should advertise it was the floating nursing home

Fantastic all round
The trip was wonderful. The only negative for us was the prices of alcoholic drinks. The staff were incredibly efficient and friendly and more than willing to oblige with any request. Couldn't fault them. Particular praise must go to Franky Panca and Elvison Silva (drink waiters in 'Crooners' and Mauro Monteza (?) and Indra Budi (in Regency Restaurant). They were all incredible.

Sewer smell and rust
The Sun Princess is a disgusting piece of junk. It should have been retired years ago. When we first got on, the food was obviously made from the leftovers of the previous cruise, although it did improve as the days went by. Throughout the cruise, there was a sewer smell coming through the air conditioning, which you could not escape from for the entire cruise. It was disgusting. Other passengers I spoke to complained of their toilets overflowing onto the carpet in their rooms. Frequently the public toilets were out of order. The beds sagged. T...Read more
he ship was awfully rusty and obviously not maintained (photo attached). I caught a mild tummy bug, an eye infection and an ear infection at different stages when onboard. Others had a bad flu. It was a NZ cruise and when we got back to Sydney, I heard fellow passengers saying, "What a relief to be home." The places we visited were lovely, but the ship was awful. Even though the staff were good, I'll never go Princess again. Come back new? How about Princess starts with its own ships.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Sun Princess - only for the rich now
Travelled on Sun Princess in Jan 2018 to NZ and was happy with it and therefore travelled on the same ship in Jan 2022 to Fiji.
Big mistake. Apparently the changes to the menu occurred a month earlier. An example - cheapest bottle of wine last year was $28; this year the cheapest bottle available is $42. A massive rip-off and not something which your average cruiser can afford. This is in addition to the removal of the daily happy hour they had the year before which was a great place to meet people.
Sun Princess apparently got refurbished mid 2...Read more

Major issues with booking
We are travelling to Vancouver from Sydney leaving April 2022 on Golden Princess for a 30 day cruise. We booked via a travel consultant on 09 Jan 2018 paying a deposit of $2143.68.
On the 24th of October 2018 we received an email from our travel consultant which showed this cruise now had a reduction in price. We contacted her and asked if we can take advantage of this, she advised yes, but advised that for some reason the original booking would need to be cancelled, (this has never happened before normally if there is a reduction in price j...Read more
ust phone Princess and job done in about 10 minutes) now having to cancel the booking stated a saga of major issues. On 26th of October we paid an additional amount for deposit on the new booking of $662.53. Same day we received a receipt showing what we have paid so far for this new booking with only $904.30 coming over from the original booking. Our agent said this was because this cruise was a part of the "world cruise segment" and Princess withheld over $1200. Naturally, we disputed this there is nothing on the web site stating this cruise was part of a world cruise segment. Also checked on the princess web site for World cruise segment, this cruise does not come up as part of these cruises. Our agent reconfirmed cancellation fee with her manager and Princess Cruises and sent an email with a link to Cancellation fees as per https://www.princess.com/find/bookingConditions.doc which is what she used. But under then Passage contract https://www.princess.com/legal/passage_contract/pcl.html it showed the following Under Section 61 comment

Great but not excellent experience
We recently did the Majestic Princess' first cruise to New Zealand in Jan. This was our first family cruise with ages 11-40. The ship was amazing. So beautiful. So many nice places to go. The food Mmmm so good. The formal dining restaurants were amazing. We especially loved the Symphony restaurant which had great service and amazing food included in our fare. My family loved the Market Place (the main eating hall). Whilst there always was LOTS of yummy food, I actually was expecting a bigger range and more exotic food. It is much like ...Read more
a food court with better food. If I wanted more special things I had to go to one of the restaurants which was fine. We also enjoyed the pizza and hamburger restaurants. There is a smart casual dress code on most day, no shorts for the men in the formal dining. Women can wear whatever they like. This annoyed my partner. The age group was largely skewed to the older population (70+) with the activities reflecting this. Carpet bowls anyone??? The entertainment included a Beetles and Queen tribute bands and many oldie movies. Having said this, we did find many things that we enjoyed such as the Game shows. They were so funny and the staff were hilarious and so flexible. Most of the theatre shows later in the cruise were great. There really wasn't many activities to do during port days as most people were ashore. Due to the ageing population, there were very few loud and obnoxious people in any of the events and this made us feel that we could give our kids more freedom. The actual New Zealand experience was wonderful. Such a beautiful place. We did Zip Lining, Luging and white water rafting booked on the cruise. All experiences were great. The white water rafter stated that it was for moderately fit people but after experiencing it, we think only 20-50 year old should do it as it is possible for boats to flip on the 7-meter drop. Our 15-year-old son had a great time and all boys this age should do it. I loved luging and the trip on the bus. There is a chair lift which wasn't on the brochure which I didn't like but my kids loved it all. We had an interior cabin and we loved it. We were at the top deck in the middle and the rocking was not as bad as in the front or back of the ship. Having said that, I was still quite unwell, for 4 of the sea days but no-one else in my party was. We had waves of 4.5 meters one day and that caused much rocking both vertically and horizontally. The cabins were quiet with only a small noise of chairs moving above which was not annoying. The darkness was amazing as we all slept in and it was great when I was unwell. Despite having 3 people in one room we didn't feel cramped. The movies were awesome and included in our fare. We would have an interior again. Our room attendant worked 11 hours a day and was amazing. If you are an early riser, nothing starts until ten on sea days, so you will need to entertain yourself. There also is no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, although you can order some through room service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Enjoyable Christmas Cruise
Sorry to hear Emily and her family had some disappointments on the PNG Christmas cruise. We too were on that cruise our groups ages ranged from 18- 62. We loved the cruise! Did not see any walkers or wheelchairs, even commented on the average age being much younger on a school holiday cruise and how good it was. The atrium was beautifully decorated with ginger bread houses and Christmas lights and all public venues had beautifully decorated Christmas Trees. Santa arrived by elevator and was swamped by children excitedly receiving Christmas...Read more
presents. I felt old (age 57) at the deck party which was fun and energetic. I attended the Zumba classes with our 18 year old and there were 20 something’s in the class and interestingly the Voice of the Ocean grand final featured 2 very talented Canadian sisters in their early 20s and a young man I’m his 20s also, from Canada. He too attended the Zumba classes. I thought everyone looked stunning on formal night and those that didn’t dress up were still welcomed into the Traviatta Anytime dining room where we dined. I have never seen anyone declined entry to a Princess dining room. The Captain was friendly and visible amongst the passengers and Duke, our Cruise Director and his team did a great job. Our Ports of Call were wonderful too.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sea Princess has lifted their standards
My wife and myself sailed on the Sea Princess in 2016 and were very disappointed with all aspects of the cruise but decided to give Princess Cruises a second chance to see if anything had changed in 2 years. We just got back from the 14 night New Zealand cruise on 10th Jan 2022 and could not fault a thing. The quality of the service, food and hygiene had dramatically improved. The organisation on and off the ship for shore tours was first class. We have done other cruises with other companies but this was by far the best cruise we have been on. Congratulations Sea Princess for reading past reviews and making changes to improve your customers holidays.

Can you drink your pre ordered beer anywhere on board? and not just in your stateroom?
1 answer
I do not know for sure as I only have a few beers a cruise at the bar and don't pay much attention to where people are drinking but I don't see why you cant walk around the ship with a beer as there are bars located at various points around the ship. On Captains nights you see people everywhere with champagne glasses. The stateroom is probably the last place you would drink beer as the beer makes us more relaxed and talkative.
