TERRIBLE
I claimed for a storm damage fence. RAC should pay around $500 on top of my initial payment of $1000. They have been refusing to pay it and saying it was not caused by storm! I have quotes and witnesses that storm fell it down, but they are refusing to pay. Now it's referred to further investigation, but no one contacted me for around a week! I don't have fence for over a month.
They accused me of using insurance for "maintenance" of my house!!!
RAC team is UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, IRRESPONSIBLE.
I had similar experience with their other insurances.
I'll leave their service for good
RAC is NOT RECOMMENDED at all.

Bad experience
They ask me picture to claim stolen items to evidenced of ownership. I don't have picture so I produced one since they need it. They found out it was not the exact item although identical so they denied because i was untruthful and could have said no picture. I felt i was push to that direction. Will no longer recommend.

RAC in decline
I have been with RAC WA for several decades. No longer worth it. The product and service have gone down and the premiums have gone up out of proportion to other insurance companies. I have two houses and several car policies that are going elsewhere.

Thanks for nothing.
As the family financial controller, I've had all our insurance policies with RACWA since we moved here in 1984 - we've never even considered going elsewhere.
We got a lot of hail damage in the 2010 Feburary Storm - two verandahs had to be replaced, also a garage door. The RAC assessor came out and said our (then nearly new) colourbond roof was not badly damaged.
The RAC were happy to let me arrange my own repairs for our skylights and garage door, but insisted that the verandahs be repaired by their own agents. Owing to the virtual absenc...Read more
e of alsynite for our verandah repairs, we waited many many months for repairs. The guys doing the work were obviously clueless and turned up with insufficient alsynite sheeting to do the job. The front and back verandah ended up with different sheeting profiles, and the back one leaked in wet weather, when if had not done so before. However, given how long we had waited and how much difficulty we'd had dealing with the RAC's preferred repairer, we had to settle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Expensive, disgusting customer service and website stuck in the 90s
Their website does not give the user control, it keeps us in the passenger seat. Their policies are expensive. I was looking up a policy and decided no and pressed cancel... next thing i know they have emailed me a $250 bill.. um no, I PRESSED CANCEL!! Now I have to go out of my way during the day (I can't do it now and I hate that.) and call.

Landlord Insurance - Disappointed
We have been with RAC for Landlord insurance for a few years now. We never had to make a claim for anything until recently. Our agent called up and were told that a lot of items would not be covered even though it was damaged by the tenant.
On top of that, we recently have to renew one of our insurance policy with them and the call centre lady who took our call were absolutely incompetent.
We enquired about why the online prices which is much more expensive that what she's quoted and at first she said it's many factors then claimed th...Read more
at we made a claim through our insurance policy which we hadn't. She put us on hold then came back and said it's many factors again but couldn't explained what factors when we asked for specific. The only way she knew how to handle the call was..... *Drumroll*.... "Hang up on you". Nothing new coming from call centre staff. Looks like we're switching insurance company. It's sad because we have multiple policies with them and now have to look elsewhere but I guess it's always good to switch and shop around rather than staying comfortable with just one company for long period of time. Something for everyone to think about in future.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

They take your money but won't let you claim - avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs . Rac focus on deniability and find a way to decline against claims by saying it is wear and tear or that it wasn't properly maintained.

FUSION POLICY LETDOWN
My mum has a Home & Contents policy and has been an RAC Customer for many years. Recently her Air Cond failed. The compressors had fused and the cost to replace these and get the air conditioner to a functional capacity was going to cost over $3000. We submitted the quote only to be told that RAC can only cover about $1700 after $200 excess. Apparently RAC will only cover the cost of compressors and the refit of them, service call and 2 capacitators, bot NOT all the other parts associated with getting it running. There is a just over a $1300 ...Read more
shortfall. What is the point of replacing compressors if the other parts need to be replaced to make it work. Mum is an 80 year old pensioner. Please check your policies and find an insurance company that does cover the other items. Apparently with an RAC contents policy, fusion is an 'additional extra' and I am told they can make changes to policies at their discression. VERY VERY POOR SERVICE in making people aware of this.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
car insurance
in 2014 my sons girl friend was driving my car, traction control engaged while the car was half on the road and half off (gust of wind had pushed car onto verge) as a result the car speared across the road and side swiped a tree and rolled. The car was a total right off, fortunately Holden make very safe cars and Nicole walked away with a scratch on her head. RAC arranged a tow truck to pick the car up, contents of the car insurance reduced the excess. within a week i was paid. No hassles.

Dont waste your money
Been a loyal customer for quite a few years without any claims Today when we needed help found out not covered for accidental damage on our policy RAC changed it some 6 months ago did not let us know but the not too polite girl in the call center told me that they would have let us know at policy renewal date in July No the policy was a waste of money for 7 years. Setup easy take money easy. What customer Support?? Gone to Woolworth now accidental damage yes lower excess yes lower price yes +++. TIP check if you have house content ins wit...Read more
h RAC you are still covered for accidental damage (if not more money required to cover this) or you may come unstuck like us NB we have never before needed to make a claim in some 40 plus years paying house insurance. Excellent and fast response to claim
Made first ever claim when my twin 2 year old boys accidentally broke my phone and iPad. Rac responded to claim within minutes of lodging it and paid it out almost immediately. No questions asked. Very impressed by their service.
I insure my car and home with them and they are not only cheaper than others but have proven themselves too. Thank you for being there when needed. I know each person may have a different experience with the same insurer but they have been by far the best I've been with. Also no wait times on phone and spoke to local Aussies each time

Easy stress free claim
Every time I have made a claim with RAC they have been fantastic. So helpful and obliging. They kept me informed as the claims progressed. The staff at their Bibra Lake centre, were stolen and damaged vehicles go for
assessment were really helpful and thorough in their assessment. I can't thank them enough. They took away all the stress that occurs when you've had a car stolen. They gave me a hire car until my vehicle has been checked out thoroughly and repaired. I am really happy. I've been with the RAC for over 10 years and never had a problem with any claim I've made.

A Blueprint for the Insurance Company Business Model
If the Business Model is to bank as much in premiums as possible and payout as few claims as possible, they have it nailed. The multitude of reasons they have come up with to deny our claims is stupendous.
1. A bike that we were given was stolen from under our carport. Claim denied as we didn't have proof of purchase.
2. Our daughter's phone got smashed - claim denied as it wasn't a specified item on the policy.
3. Our daughter's replacement phone was added to the policy (for a significant increase in premium). When that got broken, they tri...Read more

Insurance companies skip out wherever they can
We have maintained our policy with RAC for a number of years... probably approaching 20 I think, but like most insurance companies they skip out of paying wherever they can, and it seems to us, look for loopholes in order to do so. Some instances:
1. Back in July we made a claim for damaged carpet. Probably a common story. Huge rains and the gutter overflowed drenching the carpet in our office (home office). We mopped up as best we could and the carpet didn't look too bad so we didn't make a claim at that time. But my wife is a photog...Read more
rapher (A Woman's Touch Photography) and she has a terminal set up with a computer chair and a plastic mat on which the chair runs. Well, some weeks later, she noticed a black patch under the mat. Lifting the mat, she was hit with a mould smell and the carpet was obviously rotten with mould. We contacted RAC, they noted the details of the claim and said they would get a builders report. Well the builder didn't come but a carpet guy came and he noted the damage and said it was due to the water that ran down the walls, across the concrete floor under the carpet and pooled under the computer mat. Being trapped there, it resulted in the mould and degradation of the carpet. He left and said he was going to put in a report to RAC. It has taken RAC about 2 months to get back to us with the bad news that they will not do anything about the carpet because it is not due to the storm and the overflowing gutters, but is due to condensation and therefore, not claimable. In our opinion, this is playing with definitions, which insurance companies do so well. Clearly, there would not have been damage to the carpet if the gutters had not overflowed. The girl from RAC, said that she was sorry, but this was the builders report, to which my wife replied that a builder never came, and so how could he make a report. The girl apologised and said that if my wife wanted to take it further she could make a complaint. Well we won't be making a complaint, but that is not to say that we are not disgusted with the process.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

No loyalty
I just contacted RAC to see if they would price match on another company that quoted me almost $300 less on the same specs. Previous years they would reduce the premium not now. All they suggested was for me to increase the excess or reduce the overall coverage. It's not the fault of the Customer Service Officer who agreed with my situation. Their hands are now tied. Unlike previous years.

made probebly 5 claims, 3 of those being fences. If you pay the $29 rewards members and then it acrudes. Saving you $100 on your insurance after 20 year loyalty. Their argument was that they provide all these members services as bonus for having your insurance. But You can get these benefits Evan not being a member by paying the $29 to join their rewards club. What a joke.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I was broken into and had around $5,000 worth of stuff taken. My claim with the RAC (WA) was settled in full within seven days. Some Items were replaced with new ones and some were paid out cash into my bank. Brilliant service.

Restored faith in the insurance industry & the value of home & contents insurance
After the trauma & loss associated with an invasive home burglary the the thought of lodging an insurance claim equated almost to anxiety prior to a dental appointment. Because, having had to previously lodge claims for both storm related water damage & fence replacement, I'd learnt how complicated or painful the process might be& how out of pocket i might feel.
However this time, thanks to Liz & her team at RAC Insurance, within 15 hours of lodging my claim by email, I was contacted by phone to advise me of the outcome & reque...Read more

Is there a lack of Reinsurers or Something more Sinister afoot.
Are Australians being held to ransom by Reinsurers? Is this an area that the ACCC should be reviewing?
I'm unable to fault RACWA with regards to their attendance to claims, whether Vehicle or Home insurance.
But recently I could not get a satisfactory explanation on how a policy can rise by more than10%, especially when considering the CPI & and a depressed economy.
I compared prices with other suppliers only to find costings to be similar, too similar.....?
Added to this, recently on a 12 unit development site that I have a property wit...Read more

Broken pipe
I have had my house and contents with RAC for 7 years now and never made a claim. I had to call out a plumber because I could hear water running through the pipes with no taps on,
It turned out to be a a damaged pipe under the floor in the bathroom. The only way for the plumber to repair it was to break out the tiles and surrounding concrete.
I immediately rang RAC once the plumber had left and notified them that I would need to make a claim and was subsequently told that because the tiles had to be broken out by the plumber prior to the lea...Read more

My Husband died and RAC was very unhelpful
My husband dies and all our insurance policies were in his name and they would not allow me to make enquiry on anything even those I was paying for the premium monthly. I gave up on them and moved 6 policies to another company.
