Heaters Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of heater would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Brilliant Heater
We have just gone through a Winter with our new Landscape Heater. It is fantastic. It heats the house (2 Storey) up quickly. Its quiet, its comforting. The only question I have is why is the Remote so ancient looking? I would of liked an App based controller.
The installation guys were professional and friendly - well done Real Flame Dandenong.

Cant ask for better service
Bought a 1000 Landscape for my new build and, unfortunately there was a loud banging noise due to expansion and contraction. After investigation, Real flame decided it was a faulty unit and replaced it with a new unit. Unfortunately still had same problem. Had a couple of visits from their R& D people and they finally decided to relace the unit with an Elements 1200 as it has a flexible flue and we had discovered it was the flue making the noise.
Unfortunate that we had the problem and the associated inconvenience but Real flame did everything possible to correct the issue and I'm very happy with the outcome. Thanks Real Flame.

Very happy
We got the landscape 1600 installed as part of a new house build, below at 75 inch tv, I say the size because both units line up almost perfectly and is the main feature of the space. The fireplace heats up a large open plan kitchen living dinning room (8x8x3) with easy and surprisingly quickly. After 30 mins the heat can be felt at the top of the stairs. There is the clicking noise at start up and shut down but it's liveable as long as it doesn't get worst over time. I think the remote is unnecessary big for its functions. Everyone who comes over has very positive things to says about it.

Disappointed
My heater is loud and cluncky that even my neighbour has complained, it louder than my TV. I have to turn the heater off and freeze. For all the money I've paid for it it is less than a year old and it's like I've owned it for 80 years it is so LOUD!
They came wants to service it the guys just took the glass off fit all the bit played with the controls and left. Then it started clicking again .
I think they spent more money on advertising and marketing rather than a great product. They do not care about the consumer after they installed it .

Update
Its been 4 weeks or so since I installed our 1600 Landscape and thought id post an update because i have a work around for the noisey fan when it runs on high. I mentioned in my previous review that the fan is controlled by the thermostat and can't be set manually. I still think this sucks given the expense and it wouldn't take much for them to design a remote that manually controlled the fan if required but:
To get around this just set the temp you want to be no more than 1 degree above the room temp. Both are displayed on the remote. The f...Read more
an will run on low and is hardly noticeable. Problem solved. As the room heats up, and if desired, reset the temp on the remote up to room temp. I've had no issues with wind causing the fire to go out so I would suggest that anyone who has posted that as a gripe hasn't installed a suitable cowling on their flue. Highly recommend this heater if you have the cash. Have increased my rating from 4 to 5.1 comment

Real Flame Heaters will burn your house down
From the day when moved into our house, Real Flame Adelaide & our builder were advised that the $10,000 heater would extinguish when a little windy outside, then fill the house with raw gas and then try to re-ignite. This creates an explosive atmosphere, as the heater continues to cycle on and off. They sent out service technicians, but almost two years on and the problem is still there. The heaters have a design fault, so best avoid Real Flame heaters if you don't want to spend 10 grand on gas bomb!

Real Flame leaves you in the cold
From the moment they take your money they no longer provide any level of customer service in Geelong. The Incorrect gas jets were supped, their response was that was what you ordered so you will have to pay for th to be changed over. Service calls are $175. The heater does not keep the room warm. After two years the ignition wire fell to pieces. After freezing thoroughly two winters we have now decided to pull it out and put in a decent heater. I would NOT recommend Real Flame heaters to anyone.
[name removed] seems lovely until there is a problem!

Aesthetically pleasing and functional
We love the real flame. It looks fantastic and heats well. The fans blow warm air through the whole of our living/dining/kitchen and upstairs bedrooms. The unit is quite large so and heavy you need need to plan space to install it. We used to have a wood heater which had character but the cleanliness and convenience of a gas heater is superior.

ILLEGAL - NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
We were promised the absolute Earth - YES it will do this. YES it will do that. YES it will only cost this much. YES, YES, YES. But price quoted was only half of final cost!! Bottom line is 'heater' does not heat my area - looks OK but An absolute WASTE OF MONEY I advise you not to deal with these people - they will lie to you just to make the sale. After they process your payment - you are on your own. From my (and my Clients experience) DO NOT TRUST THEM - your only option is to contact Consumer Affairs (in today's competitive market their performance is totally unacceptable).
Terrible product, after my payment was processed followup from them in the "Couldn't give a **** department" If you want heartache and agro then go ahead

little inconvenience as possible. I have looked into your claims and I cannot find any record of your complaint in the Brisbane (or Queensland for that matter) area? Your heading that the fire is "illegal" is unfounded as this is a fully approved product and your claim of "not fit for purpose" is also wrong. Gorgeous fireplace and great service
We found the landscape gas fireplace at one of the home shows where it was displayed. We were looking for a gas fireplace that was not merely aesthetic and which had a more contemporary look with a simple ribbon flame, no fake logs or coals. The landscape 1000 is a real focal point of the room and also allowed us to install a TV above the fireplace. Very happy - it looks great and pumps out the heat!

ncorrectly - decided part of the flue wasn't required which meant it turned on but the flame would extinguish within 2 mins. Stewart from Real Flame came to the house and very quickly identified the problem. Problem fixed by the builder with Stewart's assistance within a relatively short time. Next time I would use a Real Flame installer. Everything Leaning towards the expensive side but worth it!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Do not purchase
Purchased a Real Flame 1600 from Impressions Castle Hill in June 2012 just in time for winter. Sales staff visited my home on 3 occasions to confirm the suitability of this unit for my large open area, No worries, I was assured. Unfortunately this thing could not heat half a metre in front of itself...not fit for purpose and no care factor with the manufacturer Real Flame, the retailer acknowledged the problem, agreed that Real Flame would not honour their obligations and virtually tough luck. Legal action pending to force Real Flame and Impressions to meet their boasts,,,look elsewhere for your product as 12 months on nothing but disappointment
Looks great
Does not heat...misleading and disingenuous brochure

Real flame Landscape gas heater is just amazing!
The Real Flame Landscape gas heater is as functionally amazing as it looks!
I have owned many gasheaters on the past but for beauty and ease of use this far surpasses the rest.
It is ducted out with a heat exchange chimney for economy, has a thermostat, turns on and off instantly, can be set to come on at a specific time etc
I have the smaller 1 meter version and it heats the whole upper area of my house.
Real Flame went out of their way to answer questions around installation ...instantly.
Could not have been more happy with the support!
This is not just for heat, it is a feature and focus point of your livingroom.
Just heat you want....don't buy it!
Beauty, ease of use, efficiency.

Its been 5 years and the Landscape 1000 is still going strong, never had it it serviced as there has never had any issues, we have located near the air-conditioning return air vent so we can use the A/C to circulate through the entire house.

Questions & Answers
Xavanteasked
I’m told by Real Flame that I can put a tv on wall above the Real Flame Element without any mantle or protection, provided its not less than 300mm. I’m not able to see any written specifications about this. Does anyone know for sure or can point me in right direction.
I don’t want to buy something based on shop floor talk then find my warranties and house insurance is voided due to here being no documented specification. Thanks.

Hi Xavante,
Our recommendation is to have the television minimum 300 above the top of the heater. Please note that this television recommendation is to be treated as a suggestion of installation only. It is the responsibility of the customer to check the installation instructions of their electrical appliance to ensure that the location is suitable. Real Flame takes no responsibility that our recommendation suggestion will be suitable for all electrical appliances.

Yes its in the install guide, and I have my 75 inch TV about 350-400 above. Its been there for almost two years and the bottom of the TV doesn't get warm from the fire.

Hi just wondering if there is any way of turning the (very noisy) fan off particularly when its not too cold and we just want ambient heat?

I found just setting the temperature to the same or 1 degree higher then the current temp, it will cause the fan to operate at a low speed.

Hi there, we have a real flame natural gas fireplace with a heat seeker fan which is about 5 yrs old. The fan has never been quiet but is steadily getting noisier, how can we fix this? Love the heater, but -------------------the fan noise is really annoying.

Hi Bav, thanks for the post. We are glad to hear you are enjoying your Landscape. The clicking noise you are hearing is expansion and contraction of the firebox and this is normal in gas space heaters. Regards
