Must have insurance.
Simple, cheap insurance that protects you, from what could only be described as overpriced repair costs, for extremely minor damage to rental vehicles.
Claim process could use some minor tweaking, but process only took a couple of days once I had all the paperwork. Have added it on a couple of rentals, but this was the first time I have made a claim.

Good value for money and excellent after sales service.
My claim was processed with ease and flawless even through the COVID19 shut down. They kept in contact throughout the claim whilst waiting for the car rental company to provide documents. This was the 1st time I bought this policy but will definitely purchase future insurance from rental.com.

Warning : cancellation fees !!!!
They charge cancellation fees whereas it is stated in the sell agreement that they don't. They say that they do that because of the covid19 but it is just a theft. They have lost a client and they will loose their reputation. What a shame.
Update : after several email exchanges I have been refunded

Honest company and highly recommended
I had a minor accident with a rental car. The rental company felt so dishonest, charging every fee imaginable and the repair costs were not realistic. If I had paid 50% more than Rental Cover to insure with them, they would have found some way to avoid covering me in full. Rental Cover paid everything, quickly and in total.

Deceptive cancellation policy
I purchased a policy prior to the current COVID-19 situation. When the COVID-19 situation developed I decided to cancel my travel plans and the policy. Upon cancelling way before the car pickup date they wanted to charge me a $10 (AUD) fee for a $25 policy.
I was very surprised because a cancellation fee is not even mentioned in their own Terms and Conditions. They also make "Cancel at anytime" a big selling point on their homepage. I see this as incredibly deceptive and anti-consumer. I have already submitted a report to the ACCC.

Insurance cover is useless
I bought the insurance cover($110) when I booked a car from Rental cover. I came to know the insurance of supplier($43) was far cheaper than what rental cover has charged me. If I buy insurance from a supplier, I do not have to pay the excess($4200).
However, after having an accident, I had to pay the excess as I did not buy insurance from a supplier and it was 4200 NZD. When I submitted a claim, it's been more than 2 weeks and the rental cover is saying they need to get the refund from the supplier, only then they can give me my money back.
I am literally begging for my own money from them.

Trying to cancel
We had rented a car from Budget in Melbourne only to find $4600 excess or $60 daily ins to reduce to zero. As we need the car for 2 weeks the additional ins cost was not viable. We then purchased a policy through RentalCover.com However after reading the many 1 star reviews we decided to cancel the car hire (after 1 hour driving from airport pick up). On returning the vehicle to Budget we then immediately tried to cancel the ins (from the Budget office). There is no phone line for Rental.Com just a Chat Bot. We were advised via the Chat Bot tha...Read more
t they would decide whether they would return any part of the ins fee paid at the end of the original period of hire (2 weeks wait for their decision). This was despite providing full documentation that the car had been returned in perfect order to Budget. An example of shonky " service " and would hate to make a claim after reading the many nightmare experiences of others on this site. There are a number of similar sounding 4 and 5 star reviews 'burying' these low star / no star reviews. They do not read well at all. Apart from a few cases of windscreen damage few details of satisfied claims are given.. Other than how fast they were....(main source of complaints I have read is "slowness" or nothing happening at all - hard to contact etc) In my experience truly satisfied people writing 4 or 5 star reviews provide some facts not vagaries.Similar opinion? Fantastic Handling of Claim
I would never have expected to have to make a claim, but when someone smashed into my hire car the service from RentalCover was really fantastic. Online process was straightforward. They followed up to make sure I submitted all documentation. The claim was paid in full within two days after I had. They delivered what they promised, and more in terms of service. I honestly couldn't ask for better in such a stressful situation.

No support
No support. There is no phone contact number. When I send an email to RentalCover, I received a reply almost immediately but it looks like that I was talking with a machine instead of a human being. The money was taken out from my credit card almost immediately when I buy a policy but when I cancelled my policy and want my money back I have no one to talk to.

Peace of mind!
We hired a car in New Zealand which we unfortunately scratched - claim was approved next day after claiming and money in back within 3 days - I'm always suspect of insurance companies but now think differently.

Excellent Service by Rentalcover.com
I was very impressed with the speed at which my car damage claim was processed by Rentalcover.com. A claim was submitted on Sunday and it was processed and approved on the following Monday. Reimbursement of my claim was processed almost immediately after my submission of bank details. Highly recommend for a peaceful mind when renting a car for your vacation.

Only insurance you need
Had a minor accident, other than having to gather up a lot of information ourselves from the chosen rental car company, the process was easy and the communication was effective.

Hassle free & Prompt
On making a small claim. It was handled quickly and professional. Everything well automated. Couldn't believe how quick the money was in our bank. We would definitely use them again.

Claim approved, simple and fast.
I had an all-inclusive policy to cover my rental car. Had a puncture, paid a machanic to replace the tyre, then on returning the car the rental agency wanted to replace it again (because the brand of tyre wasn't the same..) so was charged by them as well. RentalCover refunded these expenses, within days. It was a pretty automated process, very simple and easy, barely took any time. This is really good, simple, all-inclusive cover that actually pays when you need it. 5 stars!

No third party damage excess coverage when u r at fault
Rentalcover are cheap because they don't cover the third party damage excess. For example, you make a silly driving error in your rental car and run into a Ferrari causing $20K damage to the Ferrari (plus damage to your rental car). Typically, the rental car's most basic insurance covers third party damage, but has an excess of (say) $2500. That means the rental car company pays for $17.5K of damage, but asks you to pay the excess of $2500. If you take out Rentalcover insurance, they will not reimburse you for that $2500 excess. They do not cover third party damage! They do not disclose this on their 'quote' pages. As well, they are very difficult to contact. No phone numbers or email - just a chat service.

Does RentalCover pay all "at fault" repair costs in event of accident?
1 answer
I can't answer this. My case was not my fault and damage claim related only to the hire car (single vehicle) in my own country and therefore currency (Australia). I think it important to remember that this insurance is only to cover the 'excess liability' that the car rental company charges. Also they do state that what is covered may vary from country to country. I did find as a coverage for the 'excess' liability, this company covered more than most (including all extra fees charged by the rental car company plus repairs). I imagine the key is to read any policy disclosure document really carefully, as otherwise I think it is unfortunately as with all policies, sometimes you only find out after the event and its really stressful hoping you are covered! :)

Why does payment go through a “bank”?
2 answers
I'm guessing that as the RentalCover insurance is between you and RentalCover then the insurance payout has to go to you and the only way would be through your bank. They don't have an "office" where you could pickup cash.
The process is that because RentalCover are not linked to the car hire company, you must pay for the car hire company's excess first. You then make your claim by sending the bank statement proving payment (along with the rental company's invoice, hiring agreement, and details of accident, etc.) to RentalCover to make a claim. If they approve your claim, they then pay the money back into your bank account. As it is all online, there is no way to get cash and I liked that it went straight back into the bank account.

Am I covered for insurance if I take insurance with rentalcover.com for pick up of car in Amsterdam and driving to Germany and returning to Amsterdam.
1 answer
The answer is “yes”, but be ready to produce a lot paperwork if you get into any kind of accident. Basically you have to pay upfront and then file a claim with the rentalcover. I personally recommend to get a insurance with the rental company.
