Wind fairing discoloured.
Bought a wind fairer awhile ago, its good for wind noise. The issue is after being exposed to the elements. Its changed into whitish at some parts. I dont see it can be washed off. I know nothing last but if i had a cheap window visor that it retains its colour for a long time. Then why the expensive wind fairer not? I dont know. My roof rack is battered but i had it for a Very long time. And its a great roof rack Except the wind fairer looks older than my roof rack.

Very very disappointing!
As we were going on a much awaited camping trip,I purchased a Batwing Compact awning with an extension. Got it and discovered that a plate nut to fix the bracket had a defective thread. That put an end to the installation from the word go. Got in touch with the retailer but no joy from Rhino. I am scheduled to leave for our camping trip tomorrow and no joy yet. So I am left with the decision to either postpone our trip or leave the awing behind. It’s even more risky because they cannot tell me for sure when they can send it. The frustrating part is that Rhino has a warehouse in Perth but I cannot contact them to arrange a pick up from convenient place. How bad is that???

Backbone Rhino rails Leaking through roof
Anyone else having water leaking through roof bolts and inside head lining of car roof? Then runs down inside trim panels
Major problem with my 100 series Cruiser.
Not only leak but are noisy and impossible to clean roof of car as built way to close. No clearance for hand, arm or brush either from the side, front or back. Prefer old type with cross bars

NOISY!!! Pioneer Backbone platform on Y62
Wind noise above 70 km/hr... Added wind fairing=ratlling on the roof... Quite disappointed considering the price. Not too sure what to do. Will try different adjustments of the fairing to find a compromise.

Noisy rhino tradie rack
I’ve just installed the rhino pioneer tradie rack with the backbone system on my 2017 ranger, the actual platform is great. The problem is the ridiculous amount of wind noise I get when travelling from 60km/hr and above. I can’t even talk on the phone when travelling. I’ve tried moving it forward and backward on the roof but it makes no difference. Very unhappy with the noise.

Very disappointed
I was going to contact rhino-rack before I gave a review but not possible. I purchased and had fitted a Pioneer Tradie Platform from Roof Rack City in Adelaide. (Very happy with roof rack city). Drove home after fitting, 3.5 hours of hell. It was like having a jet plane on top of the car the wind noise was so bad. After paying more than $1500 l would have expected a lot better. I don't want a lot of the usual spin from Rhino-rack but a solution to the problem or the rack removed and a full refund. I look forward to an acceptable response/solution from rhino-rack.

Rhino Rack Universal Side Loader collapsed and scratched my car. Also pole died after 2 uses.
Bought the Rhino Rack Universal Side Loader a couple of weeks ago to lift a kayak (~35kg) onto the roof rack and it has now caused damage to my car and almost caused the kayak to fall on top of me. Not only that, but the telescopic support pole will no longer go down after 2 uses!
I installed the correct brackets for my Whispbar racks (#1 and #2), and followed the instructions for lifting the kayak. Very quickly it was obvious that it wasn't stable, and fairly easily detached itself from the roof rack. I followed all the instructions - "pivo...Read more

Excellent roof rack with excellent service
Late 2018 I bought, and had installed, the Rhino Rack Platform Tradie. After about 9 months I noticed one slat had some minor deterioration. I informed Rhino Rack, sent them some photos of the slat, purchase information and installation dates and requested a replacement slat.
But instead of sending a replacement slat, they sent me a brand new replacement rack.
I have had many Rhino Racks over the years with various vehicles - cars and 4x4 - and have always been impressed with the quality of their products. But in this case, I am extrem...Read more

Noisy, average quality, scratched my car
I received the "aerodynamic" racks for my car because I was told they were better for fuel and won't make noise. I was disappointed when I opened the box to find the racks were scratched. It took ages to install them even though the instructions were clear, the measurements were wrong.
Finally after installing them, we loaded up and for a drive only to find when we went above 60km they started to make a high pitch whistle. After getting back from our day out and removing them because I didn't want to drive around sounding like a boatswain call, I found the clamps had scratched the paintwork on my car.
I'd expect this from a cheap set but these cost me over $400, so I expected much better.

customer service & tech support
I have been in communication with Rhino Rack customer service department in Aurora Colorado about a set of Vortex SX legs I purchased that ended up being the wrong fit for my vehicle. The legs were purchased about a year ago, I did not have an order #, but did provided a copy of the transaction from my credit card. The legs are in the original box and in original condition, as they have never been used. I was told there was nothing that could be done. The suggestion was to buy new legs that would fit and put the others on a sale web site. After...Read more

Bike Carrier Locks failed one after another
Purchased Rhino Roof Racks along with 2 Bike Carriers RBC035. Within a matter of weeks, one after another the locks would not work. Tried to put a warranty claim online. Their online system doesn't work. Rhino don't give out phone number or email address. Went back to dealer. They supplied me with 2 new barrels. Couldn't work out how to replace the barrels and was told Rhino does not provide fitting instructions. Over $700 I have spent and can't get it resolved. Absolutely disgraceful. Not the dealer, but Rhino Rack. Your problem. A phone number would go a long way, or do you just hope people will go away.

Very noisey
The rhino pioneer backbone rack whilst appearing quite stylish is really a noisy piece of rubbish!!
The noise produced after being fitted to my new Amarok Ultimate has to be experienced to be believed. Now the reply will be the same as all others I have read in response to this problem but there is something seriously wrong with this design surely a product which costs $1700 fitted by an authorised dealer shouldn’t make you wish to pull it off immediately. I will be telling all and sundry to steer away from chino products

Rhino Rack Sunseeker II 2.5 awning
We have the Rhino Rack 2.5 awning and the cover has totally deteriorated to the point we need to remove it. Sun damage has degraded the bag the awning is in. They have a replacement bag for 50.00 which replaced the original bag.... and is UV protected apparently. Disappointed that they aren't offering any compensation to their customers whose awning covers are so badly destroyed by sunlight (which is obviously going to happen with this type of product given its mounted to the roof rack). I was told to buy the new improved cover.

Disappointed - Double Horizontal Jerry Can Holder
My husband and I have been planning our ultimate road trip and saving up for each item needed. We have been looking at the double horizontal jerry can holders for months now and saving our money to buy 2 of them. On the packaging it says suits most 20L metal and plastic fuel containers. We bought 4 x AS2906 standard plastic fuel containers over a few weeks and then purchased our 2 x rhino rack double horizontal jerry can holders only to find that the racks don't fit 'most' fuel containers, they actually don't fit any containers expect metal one...Read more
s! We drove around all weekend taking our rack into each shop trying to fit 'standard fuel containers' and only the metal ones fit. We now have $150 worth of plastic fuel containers that can not be returned as stores have a no return policy, they don't stock the metal ones because they cost too much and don't sell enough so we can't exchange them either. We now need to purchase $250 worth of metal fuel containers to be able to use the jerry can holders as we have no other choice as we have a rhino rack fitted to our vehicle. Multiple Stockists have since told us that only metal containers will fit regardless of what the packaging says. Disappointed is an understatement!!! Packaging should reflect accurate details of what will fit!!1 comment

Not made for Australian sun
We have the Rhino Rack 2.5 awning on our car, and whilst we have used it and it functions well enough, the casing it sits in when stowed, has completely deteriorated in our Australian sun and now the rolled up awning is exposed to the elements constantly.
I find this to be unacceptable, especially given the purpose of the product is to be outdoors. We can no longer touch the cover without it crumbling in our hands and I have no faith that the awning itself wont start to deteriorate too.
For the price of these, it is very disappointing. I would not recommend this product to anyone planning on using it outdoors ????
Shop around for better quality from a competitor.

Whistle on pioneer with backbone
I have a pioneer roof rack with backbone mount on my 100 series and the whistling at 40-60 is terrible. For a rack you spend $1300 on, it’s unacceptable. Surely the engineers would have known this when designing these and rectified it. Very poor

Wind noise is incredible
I had a Pioneer platform with back bone installed on a 2022 Triton. The wind noise starts at about 60 km and is unbearable at 100km.
I would expect much better from a product that cost $1500. I understand that anything added to a vehicle will cause wind noise, but this is totally unacceptable. It’s like driving a 40 year old car.
I can’t believe that this product is being sold without any mention of the effect it has on cabin comfort.

Why does Rhino not have a customer service number if they are one of the most expensive brands on the market. Even Kings has a number as well as customer service and if they choose not to allow a customer to contact them via phone should they not be obligated to act and respond promptly instead of when it suits them

From what I’ve seen they don’t care about customer service, they would rather you go back to the retailer to solve any problems. Very poor attitude.

It is bad we had help from our ARB representatives otherwise I think we would have not heard from them if it wasn’t for there help. (Note I didn’t even buy this product from ARB they were happy to help) It’s the time of not knowing what is happening or no one to speak to that makes you upset at the service they give. If there was someone to talk too it would put you mind at easy.

Hi Mike, Generally our racks come with an allen key which can be used to tighten the system. If you are having difficulty, you can check the product instructions from our website, or you can visit your local dealer for help.

I have just purchased a Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 JA2225 I have a wire basket 14kg (to go on top DMax) which I will be using to put a small ladder and some firewood. I am heading up the Top End (Cape) as the rack is not bolted to the roof is it safe enough on corrugation? I realize that checking every 100k or so is a necessity.

Kevin C.Rhino-Rack
In general, we recommend fixed mounting systems for off-road use as the load rating safety factor is higher for pad and clamp systems. Any roof rack should undergo regular maintenance, especially while on a trip. The maintenance involves, as you said, checking the roof racks every few 100km and making sure they are tightly secured. This is especially important for pad and clamp systems and when travelling on unsealed roads. As a general guide, I recommend doing this before the trip and each time you refuel on a trip. You can find more information on load ratings here - http://www.rhinorack.com.au/blog/2018/11/26/load-ratings-explained.
Thanks Kev a bit of assurance and sound logical advice.
