Perfect for our needs

published

We had an old large Rinnai with a broken thermostat. I did some research and shopped around and got this Rinnai 309 for nearly half price. The size is perfect, it runs very quietly and the timer facility is great.

Purchased in January 2021 at Stan Cash for A$897.00.

What a rubish unit

It is 2 weeks since my heater was installed by a plumber who has had several phone calls to Rinnai. I have also called Rinnai. It is still not working. Winter will be past it seems before it will be working. It will not light so I cannot feel it will have been a good purchase.

They are connected to new LPG gas cylinders with new regulators and pipework.
The plumber has been in contact with Rinnai last Friday and since to no avail

This is a great and efficient heater, works consistently and perfectly, I would highly recommend. It is relly good with no emissions! Excellent for children particlarly for asthma sufferers. Timer works well - I love waking up to a warm house. Looks stylish and is able to quickly heat up the room.

Energysaver 309FT

I got my Rinnai 309FT installed by a guy who used to work for Rinnai, installing them and he did a fantastic job setting it up.
That night I set my 309FT (Natural gas) on timer mode and I heard it doing something closer to the waking up time but I woke up to a freezing room with the number 12 flashing on the display.
Since then I hear a rumbling now and again and when I look closely, I can see the flames inside reduce in intensity at the time of the rumble. Once the flames cut out and then the number 12 started flashing on the display.

Yes I have checked the manual and yes the gas supply is turned on. I remember the installer telling me that it was normal to hear a rumbling sound now and then and there was no cause for concern.

Faulty circuitry? I don't know. Any help is appreciated so I don't wake up to a freezing cold room at 5.30am!

Kind regards.

From the experience I have had getting mine working, the 12 is a gas indication. What the problem with mine was it flashed 12 and Rinnai replaced the electrode that was not maintaining gas ignition on start up.
Hope this helps

The installer came and had a look at it and told me that it was normal. Thrice it has cut out on me since my first post. Japanese product but there is a fault that the manufacturers forgot to fix before releasing to the market! Common problem these days with examples of Samsung recalling Notes etc.

No one from Rinnai got in touch with me or replied to my post maybe because they know what is wrong! Shame. Doesn't matter it runs once it gets warmed up. It needs a heater to heat it up to start on cold days! Lol!
