Sam's Local Plumbing

I had a leaking stop tap in the toilet and decided instead of getting it fixed to replace it with a new one and install a hand shower. I bought a double mini stop tap and hand shower and asked them for a quotation to install. The guy came in and quoted me $647 for the job.
For the quote charged me 54 $ inc GST, if i did the job same day they will reduce the 54 from original price but if i decided to do it another day they will still charge me 647. Just for labor this is too much for this type of a job, way too expensive. I managed to do all by myself ad didn't even took me 1 hour to do those.
If its a major issue these people would charge exorbitant amount.

Plumber rang ahead of time the morning before scheduled appointment to check if he could come earlier. I was happy about that and he came on time to repair my leaking in the bathroom from behind toilet cistern. This is the third job that Sams Local Plumbing has done at my place, I also asked them to look at my gas cooktop which had issues. All of these work was done to same high standard. Still I feel like they lack in some things but altogether they are a good choice.

I rang John for a blocked drain.He gave me a time of 10 am the same morning.. even rang to tell me he was running late by 10 minutes. He did a CCTV camera inspection from the toilet pan into the drain and found tree roots inside the drain. Did the whole job in just under an hour as previously estimated. Used a high powered water blaster to blast away the tree roots.

Contacted them to fix a roof leak and after inspection found out the roof was fully rusted and need major roof repair work. They showed me photos of the roof and seeing the roof's condition I accepted their quote. Their price wasn't that expensive but after replacing the full roof valley there was still one leak at the corner. I was upset about it but later on they fixed it for me. There was delay but still my work was complete and I am happy about it.

Usually plumbers try to cheat elderly people but this company is a model for those people. I called them to fix my roof which was leaking in the rain. My father was only present at home as I had to go work. The plumber was courteous to my father and explained the issues and solution what he can do. I accepted them seeing their reasonable pricing in quote, they maintained their promise and did not increase the price more than the quote. Plumber installed downpipes and bond gutters to stop the leak. Did a great job and I was happy the roof issue was resolved when I reached home. Experienced plumbers!

I contacted Sam's Local Plumbing for resolving my issues regarding blocked drain. They did a camera inspection to find out the issue and did a great job. Cleaned the drain and their price was 2000 dollar less than the others plumbers I asked for cleaning the drain and camera inspection. They are affordable plumbers and even common people can use it.

Phoned Harry at 1 pm and he reached my place. Very pleased with the result. The plumber explained the situation of my blocked sewer drain through CCTV camera footage and photos. The situation occurred due to tree roots and sanitary products dumped in the toilet. He cleaned the sewer drain by taking away the sanitary products and cutting the tree roots. It was a heavy job so he called two other people to help him. I am very impressed with the level of communication, service and overall manners of guys who came. Thank you!

I had Sam's plumbing come out to fix a blocked drain $770 dollars later the problem was still not fixed
He then said is was going to cost $5500 to fix the problem because he had to dig out the main water line.
I then contacted another plumber and he fixed the problem with ease for around $200.

Service was fine but it cost $420 for 1 hour's work to change 3 washers. To be fair, I was given some information prior: the cost to change a washer is $140 but I assumed that most of this cost would be for a call out charge and that 3 washers would not be 3 times the cost. As it was my mother-in-law's house and she finds having people in the house very stressful, I had little option other than to proceed.

Avoid them at all costs!
Sam's gives overpriced, misleading quotes. Dishonest, unreliable and utterly rude.
Even the Fair Trading watchdog has launched court action against this plumbing group for misleading advertising (see https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6001575/fair-trading-watchdog-launches-court-action-against-plumbing-group/)
Sadly this site hasn't a "no star" option, because Sam's doesn't deserve any!

Sams Local Plumbing attended the job, then charged for camera work that they could not do and then later said would not be able to do. When i requested a refund i was given the runaround before being told to bad.

The reasons?
1.They will waste your time. I have made 3times appointment with Sam's.
The second time, after 40min appointment, I had a call to its office and got answer：They can not go to my house because too busy！
Third time, Finally, Sam's staff came to my place to do a quotation after 45min appointed time.

2.The extremely high quotation price。
For my kitchen sink and gas cooktop, its quotation is nearly nine time high than other plumbers'. It is $14,916! other plumbers only charge $1650~1500 only!

3. They charge quotation fee $99 if not accept their offer! And, Sam's staff and its AD never, ever state this cost at all. It is not right.

We had a leaky tap in our kitchen, so called Sam's pluming to replace. Didn't turn up for the arrange time on the first day, but did make it the next. Quoted $630 to change tap, which we agreed to as we both work and the leaking water might have damaged the cabinets. They took about 15 min to install new tap.
Invoiced us for $750, despite the original quote being $120 less. When we looked up price of tap online, it was less than $115.
Lesson learnt - always get quotes! And NEVER use Sam's plumbing.
