Powerbot VR9000 (SR20H9050U)

Question was asked last year with no replies by someone else.
Powerbot is displaying mute and error triangle. Will not start. Tried turning off and on the master switch and powerbot displays these 2 icons while system check is performed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have even pulled the battery, and let sit overnight to see if that worked with no positive results.

Powerbot VR9000 (SR20H9050U)

I have a powerbot 9050 that will only run for about 7 minutes before it returns to the charging base. It still has full battery, an empty bin, and no error codes. I have moved the base twice, tried restarting it doesn’t help. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or maybe factory reset the device?

Hi Justin, a basic factor reset may do the trick, however if symptoms persist, I suggest taking the unit to a service centre so that our techs can assess the unit.

Hi Lee,
I'm having a similar issue after 2 years of faultless operation. No actual error code, just backs up, wiggles around a bit and the exclamation symbol lights up.
No resoloution with reset and full clean.

Was your issue solved?

Thanks in advance,

Put a piece of tape over the sensor. I know that worked with Rhoombas with the same issue.

I put white paper over all the senses and taped them down, everything works fine on black rugs.

My vacuum wont turn off! It doesn't move anywhere, the motor just keeps running. It ran the battery flat and when I put it on the dock the motor runs permanently. Even if I pick it up, turn it upside down, take out the dustbin, it stil runs and runs. I have turned it off underneath and left it off for hours, as soon as I turn it back on again the motor starts up again. :-( Any ideas???

The motor runs but the bot doesnt move? Sounds like a Software problem as you have tried to reboot by switching off at the isolating switch under the bot. Suggest you try and get Samsung to fix (good luck)

When I press the mute button the mute symbol comes on but the vacuum volume does not decrease. Is the vacuum supposed to be completely silent on mute or not.

2 answers

Jessie

The mute button turns off the notification sound. It does not silence the running vacuum. The notification sounds when the PowerBot gets stuck, when it begins it's cleaning cycle, and when it connects to the charger.

To lower the noise level of the vacuum itself, try turning down the power level (cyclone shaped button). This gives a quieter cleaning and makes better use of the battery

I have made myself my own professional powerbot fixer (prefer 9000+ models and I made a deal with the crap that’s this expensive beast has turned into and I am fully capable for pretty much fixing anything and the best part. I speak tech/ not tech and have over a 100 parts to fix basically anything. I’m a geeky engineer that always works on my own equipment because we can even take these to vacuums stores in the Washington D C metro area. So if you don’t mind shipping out to me ( hopefully not far you’ll go from someone reading a damn manual (tier 1, then escelsted to Tier 2, then up to the FEW rocket scientists who let this go out for sale with NO R&D. Meaning it won’t go over black lines and for almost $1000 you have to get the craziest support to get you up and running. I’m honest. This is my hobby and I do not intend to get rich from you ok. You pay for parts that I do not have I snd WILL NOT order anything w/o your approval and signature. If not about to fix (that would be the first in over 50 9000-9050’s......you can text me at(703) 517-0709 (Ed wolfe) nothing to hide and my address is15780 Crocus lane, Dumfries VA 22025 if you really want the best chance because not only does their lame ass support take so long they DONT KNOW how to fix. Man I wish I could make a business of this but have no where to start as far as charging outside of parts that I have to pay for. Any parts I have in surplus are free to you. Why???? Because I believe it paying it forward and helping others.....so I guess let chat text, call etc and we can work out a fair exchange and if you want to insure your broken bot be my guest. Maybe it will get lost in transit and the UPS will give you the money for the new one.

Ok folks here’s the good news. It’s the best and can take on all terrain and even thin lynolium and hardood floor very well. When it works. When I first disassembled this is was soooo pissed at Samsung. Most the parts are cheap plastic that are to hold forever and I expected it to be. H2 in my house! Hey I may even get a welding set and start making monster bots that I’d it grab the cats tail “uh-oh!” I don’t have a cNnans my heavily shedding dogs just move out of its way......

Anyway feel free to reach out. I’ve got some follow now and if it goes at this rate MSN’s I’ll be their next US base pre-release R&D engineer. Better pay me a ton cause I’m not chanrging much (yet) more I Lean quicker infix good for you

Try turning it off with the emergency switch on the bottom and unplugging the base. Then plug it back in and turn the robot back on. This has been known to resolve issues with the bot finding and docking to the base.

Justin

Turns out it couldn't find the dock because it was on carpet. I put a flattened cardboard box under the dock and on a hard surface it works just fine.

Sounds like the electronics got damaged. Leave it as open as possible for a few days, then try again, and if it does not work you will have to bring it back where you bought it.

Hi, my PowerBot is driving me crazy. It seems to get lost all the time, only doing bits and pieces of rooms and goes back and forth between rooms. I have a grey rug in the lounge, it vacuums around the edge of rug about 3 times but never goes on the rug. It seems to be getting worse. is there any way of reprogramming it? Thanks

Hi Kaz,

My Powerbot also drove me crazy. I am not sure if Samsung can update the firmware of the Powerbot. What I did was I bought another docking station with power adaptor from their service center. Put one in front of the house and the other at the back of the house. It can now find the station to charge. But same problem as yours. It will not finish a room. Sometimes what I'll do is close the room where it is vacuuming until it finishes it then open the door when it's done. I guess the Powerbot needs supervision and is not very smart...

Kaz

Thanks for taking the time to help K. I've started closing doors but it's still crazy. Helpline have advised me to take it to service centre :}

If you have no steps that it can fall down, try covering the "Cliff Sensor" under the front edge of the unit. It is a somewhat recessed, rectangular area about 1/2" X 2" under the front edge of the unit. I used black electrical tape on mine that work well. I have a multi colored rug that the unit just would not vacuum, stopping every time the color changed on the rug.

The Samsung is very high: 13.5 cm, in contrast to other that are only 10 cm. 10 cm would fit nicely under the sofa's whereas this Samsung would not do that. Have you found that a problem?

Hi Harry, good question...unfortunately my couch sits on the ground so i dont have an issue with the height...i havent run into any other issues regarding it either. The front third section however is lower than the 13.5 stated so it does allow the nose of it to get under the front sections that are visible to the eye....and it doesnt get stuck. Hope that helps.

maungshay

Hi Harry, never had an issue with the height. Just like any robot vacuum you will still need to get into those hard-to-reach places yourself so adding under a couch would be a small price to pay I guess. Cheers

2 answers
TaraS

the VR9200/ SR20H9050U has a wifi connection that lets you control the device from your phone. I believe it also has the 10 yr warranty on the motor whereas the VR9000 doesnt have that.

NeoSamurai
NeoSamurai

I think the VR9000 has only a 70Watt motor - the VR9200 has a 180Watt motor.
