Love the whole range
I have had quite a few non-stick pans over the years after being talked into it by early 90s marketing (so much healthier! So easy to clean!). All of them were rubbish and the surface would start flaking off after a short time. I had a few concerns about the safety of the materials used in non-stick pans, too. I finally decided to invest in some good quality stainless steel cookware and wish I'd done it years ago! These are superb. They are heavy, heat evenly and quickly, handle high temperatures and are very easy to clean. You only need a lig...Read more
ht coating of oil. The handles are very comfortable and the lids fit perfectly. Plus no chance of the lids breaking! The 20cm frypan is perfect for single pancakes and omelettes. I can highly recommend this range - Kitchenware Direct has them much cheaper than the department stores. Excellent quality, easy to clean, comfortable to handle, cook perfectlySimilar opinion? Stainless is a Good Choice
After spending lots of money on top end non-sticks only to have the coating fail or lose its non-stickiness after a while, we bought a single Impact pan. It took a bit of learning but after understanding stainless, cleanup is rarely difficult. The pans look nice and polish up with softscrub or bar keepers friend. So happy with them we subsequently added two more Impact pans. Anyone going into stainless pans for the first time should do some internet stainless cooking research before starting. It is worth the time. Also - do not use oilve ...Read more
oil as it will easily burn onto the steel and can be difficult to clean up. Canola or another high temperature oil (rice, peanut, etc) work well. Durability. No coating to worry about. A new learning curve if you have not previously used stanless cookwareSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So far so good
Got a 5 piece set for what I think a good bargain (150$ instead of 500$ at Myers for 3 saucepans, a steamer and a frypan). I carefully researched on how to use stainless steel pans (the water test is an excellent way of making sure, that the temperature is right). Been frying quite a bit and had no problem with sticking so far. Even the eggs turned out quite well. Nice to handle set, the finishing looks good, easy to clean and works well on Induction as well.
Quality, handling, performance, cleaning

Finally! No ridiculous glass lids...
Trying to find an top quality induction set without silly glass lids is almost impossible...hooray! I hate the scanpan non stick, but this set is perfect for me. I didn't want 'silicone inserts' and 'glass lids with vents' (like that's a good thing...NOT). Why do you want something breakable/degradable on a cookware set? All glass can break, even tempered; dangerous and silly-a chef friend's experience! Silicone will start to look tatty if thrown in the dishwasher a lot, which I need to do. Want to look in the pot? Lift the lid.
This set is to...Read more
ugh, tough, tough. If you look after it, it will last much longer than the guarantee. I throw it in the dishwasher time after time, and it comes out like new. Perfect for induction, heats quickly. I got the 5 piece set with 2 dutch ovens and that's great...no silly handles sticking out in the fridge. Yes, I put my pots in the fridge... hygeine reasons. The pot you heated is way more sterile than anything you can transfer food to. So the set needs to stand up to a lot, and it does, above and beyond expectations. Light, strong, superior heat distribution, s/steel lids, great price over 50% off.

Good for different dishes
Bought the Saute pan with glass lid ($90) and I find it really well made and that it heats quickly and evenly enough for basic heating, frying and I even do steaks and the odd mid length simmer dish and stew in it. It has measurement notches on the inside of it and is very wide so you have enough room for a variety of diff foods and big steaks or 3-4 smaller steaks.
Nice finish, not tooo pricey,10 year warranty, glass lid, easy to clean, multipurpose.
Abit heavy so dont expect to throw it around like a well experienced TV chef might, stainless steel can stain so you have to look after it. A little big to comfortably fit in the sink without banging the sides a little.

Excellent
Excellent value, these are close to commercial quality. I wouldn't ever use any sort of nonstick pans as even the best ones leach what the manufactureres say are "non toxic" chemicals into food. If you get food burnt onto these just put some water in the pan and boil it. Once you get used to them you shouldn't have burnt food on them anyway. I have found these incredibly EASY to clean. There is no glue in the lids, not sure what that girl was on about. The bases are supposed to be heavy, it holds the heat in. If you are a good enough cook...Read more
or want to learn you should be fine with these. Easy to clean if you know how. All the complaints I have read are either due to not knowing how to use these or not being used to them yet. The finish on the outside does scratch a bit. Any sort of stainless steel does.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great quality great look
Bought a saucepan and pot and a frypan of this range and found the quality of them excellent. Was almost going to pay the extra to get the copper bottom ones but using on a electric stove wouldnt of made much difference.
These pots/pans are all stainless steel so can be used in an oven and also being stainless makes them easier to clean.
Will probably replace all our pots/pans set with these.
All high quality stainless steel, looks.
Could be cheaper but i dont mind paying for quality items that last longer.

Very good saucepans
We bought the three saucepan set and have used them for about six months. They look good and with the glass lids it's easy to see what's happening. They heat up quickly and are easy to clean. I haven't found anything bad about them. The internal measurement graduations is also a handy feature.
Reasonably priced, stylish. Does it's job well. Easy to clean.

This is perfect! No cook can live without it!
I bought myself the scanpan silencio stainless steel stew pot today & truly love it. After looking at many, I decided on this one for the following reasons. I needed one that was totally oven proof. My last pot did not have oven proof handles & they consequently melted. The scanpan not only looks absolutely stunning with a dash of red colour around the rim of the lid, it really is quality. The oven proof silicon rim allows the pot to be completely silent when putting the lid on. The shape of the pot is practical & economical. Having a smaller b...Read more
ase it uses up less energy on the cook top, yet the larger top half allows for plenty of room to cook a feast. It is not heavy to lift & the handles were not that hot when removing the pot from the oven, however it is still wise to use mits. This pot is suitable on any surface including solid plate, induction, ceramic, gas, halogen, is oven proof & dishwasher safe. I got a great price at Victoria's Basement too! High quality, practical, easy to use, light weight, aesthetically stunning, heaps of room, economical on the cooktop.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great looking saucepans although chunky handles can get in the way
I recently ordered 3 saucepans and a steamer insert to replace my 20 year old Essteele saucepans that were recently becoming dangerous to use (loose handles). We are moving into a new house (new kitchen!) with an induction cooktop and I needed new saucepans to suit although I am currently using a gas cooktop with them. Now anything, is better than old saucepans and this set is stunning. I read the reviews here AFTER purchasing ?? and kinda wished I had gone with the Essteele range again after such a great performance but I wanted glass lids and...Read more
Scanpan ticked all the boxes for the look I wanted. Shiny and new. Deep saucepans. Look great. Suit induction cooking. I like the copper bottom, glass lids and that the steamer insert fits all my saucepans. Appear to heat much quicker and retain a more even temperature than my old saucepans. Pots are heavy with chunky handles. No vents in the lid. If you have a small cooktop and use a lot of pans at once, the handles tend to get in the way. The lid has a rim that water catches in if you leave saucepans to drip-dry after washing. Handwashing required. For the price, a 15 or 20 year warranty would be more fitting.1 comment

Dissapointment!
Bought a scanpan impact wok to go with my new induction cooktop. It was a bad idea. Maybe it's just that I can't cook with stainless steel woks, but I found that the food stuck to the bottom, despite the amount of oil I put on it. The bottom was just browning and I had a lot of trouble using the wok. I think I would have been better off just buying a cheap flat bottom cast iron wok to go with my cooktop instead! A true dissapointment after all the good reviews I heard about Scanpan. That was my one and only scanpan and I don't think I'll ever get another Scanpan Impact cookware again - expensive and just not worth the price.
Expensive. Food sticking to the bottom.

to cook with stainless you always need to heat it up really properly before putting the food in - it wont stick to the bottom at all
You also need to let the food cook a bit before you try to move it in the pan....move it too soon and you can make a mess.
I agree with eanpic, exactly the same problems with my Impact. I do all of the above -heat up first, let it cook before trying to move it. Use Olive oil etc etc. even on the lowest heat the pan gets h... Read more

Good
Stainless steel has a bad rep when it comes to cleaning, but we have had such a lot of trouble with non-stick coatings that we thought we would give it a go. Doing a bit of research on using stainless steel frying pans, we cooked our first batch of eggs today and found them to not stick AT ALL! The trick is to heat the pan to a hot temperature first, THEN add the oil. If the oil is too hot or too cold the food will stick and it will be hard to clean. So with a bit of practise I think this pan will beat our other scanpan titanium nonstick hands ...Read more
down. At least we know that the coating wont come off this stainless steel pan!! The base seems to have cleaned up well too. Overall, we did get this on special and found it to be good value for money at $65. Size and shape of the 10" frying pan. Handles don't get too hot. Food tastes better when browning off compared to a non stick frying pan. Quite a heavy base, but still better than most I have seen in the shops. Need to wait a bit until the pan is hot enough BEFORE adding oil, which is true for any stainless steel pan.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic
They are heavy based so can be quite heavy when full of water and food but you get used to that. because they have such a heavy base there is no need to have the heat so high. Takes a little getting used to. because of that I burnt gluten free spaghetti in one and still have trouble getting the burn marks off although they are gradually going. It was a REALLY bad burn and with my previous saucepan I would have had to throw it out. This one cleaned up most of it simply by standing overnight with water in it. because it was Gluten free food I sus...Read more
pect it burn on a lot more intensely. The food cooks really well and I love the fact that you only need a low heat. brilliant once you get used to them Start on low heat and increase as you need to so you get used to it. I started with the highest heat and found I had to turn it down to almost half what I normally use. They keep their looks and are easy to clean. Love them and will never go back to non stick after using these. You do need to let them heat up if adding oil, dont put the oil in then cook ot food will stick. Closest thing I have come to professional quality. Don't need to use such high heat settings, top quality large saucepans get heavy when full of water. I would prefer a small grip handle on opposite side for larger sizes.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
I love them!
I have had one saucepan and the steamer for three years now and I love it. I use it all the time and have never had a problem with them. The heavy base allows for an even heat and I have never had problems with the base browning too much or making it difficult to get out. You just need to know how to treat your stainless steel product by soaking in hot water after use and being mindful that you do not need a high heat as the base is designed to absorb the heat and distribute it evenly. I was so happy with my original saucepan that I have just...Read more
bought a set of three. Now when you open my draw you probably won't be able to tell which pan is older as the original still looks as good as the new ones. As well as the great cook, the pans also look good. The glass lids are great for checking on the food. They are also have no screws which was a problem with my old pot lids as they used to come loose. Overall, the pans cook very well once you get used to them and the look awesome if you know how to look after your stainless steel cookware (rinse with green scourer in warm soapy water then pop in the dish washer). Cook great, look great, 10 year warranty Might take some practice with your cooking style if you are used to different style pans. Be patient, they are worth the wait. :)Similar opinion? OK
I purchased the scanpan impact steel wok as it looked like a good quality product. It is a good wok and cooks the food evenly and the glass lid is very handy however the food does tend to stick to it a bit so I always have to soak and lightly scour afterwards. It quickly lost its shiny appearance at the bottom where the food sits the most. A good product but not great in my opinion.
Quite good quality, easy clean and the glass lid is a great idea to keep check on the food while cooking
Does not clean up 100% so the bottom quickly loses it shine, food does stick to it a bit

Bad
Bought a frypan, dutch oven and a saucepan. As I write we have just used the frypan for the first time- to cook croutons; and the bottom has browned and looks burnt but cooked properly. Tried warm soapy water, and even a cream cleanser- to no avail. Now waiting to see how the saucepans go. Very disapopointing as I have given some of these as an engagement present also, as well as buying these for me. I know this wasn't the most expensive range of Scanpans but I would have thought to get more than one use out of them before they lookes used!! Not all that impressed now!
Great name- bought at a goosd price on sale. Waited 30 years to get good saucepans- very excited!
Nothing at first

Its not a TV, you dont buy it to look at it.
I always soak mine after cooking, way better cook wear than the silly non stick Tefal and the likes that will not last more than a year before the coating goes.
My Scanpans now over 5 years old and still look great with semi-regular maintenance.
try softscrub and barkeepers friend - should polish it up to almost new with a bit of patience. if the look is tarnish it is tempering the steel from overheating and that will not polish out easily if at all.

These are ok saucepans - I have almost the whole set. However food sticks quite badly to them and now we have been given a new set (or uglier but better saucepans) these do not get used as much.
They look really good. and feel qood quality.
If you boil with the lid on - stuff drips into the pan from the glass lid. Not sure if its part of the glue? I only noticed this when boiling water for my baby's formula.
Food sticks to the pans and they roaster is a real torture to real. would be best to choose the non stick scanpan.

Good
overall they are good pots and pans that i use daily, they are a little harder to clean then the non stick ones but i still like them and got them for a great price, i like that you get a warranty so you can send them back to scanpan for a replacement if you have any issues
i bought the 10 piece impact set and i really do like them, they look good, they are easy to cook with, they are a nice weight, i like the glass lids so you can see whats cooking without taking the lid off.
they are hard to clean properly and look new and shiny again, sometimes things get stuck on the bottom so it is best to stir quite often when cooking

Bought a stainless steel scan-an wok ... high heat for stir fry is impossible in this pan. Had a scanpan non stick .... perfect for many years. Swapped for the stainless steel ... very disappointed.( I have a gas cooktop & wok burner)

b) where to dispose of my new pan?

Definitely cook on the lowest heat ...... don’t dispose ... I’ve persevered with mine and only ever have my gas at the minimum flame
Thanks Mandy.
Will put it on trial for another recipe.
