2 months without any access to my own simply energy account
I have been trying to access my simply energy account for over 2 months and the same message that they are offline due to maintenance update is a joke ! how is this ok !!! chatted and sent inquiries, they raise a ticket and i wait for a while and to date I still cant access the my 2 accounts !!!! this is an absolute joke, is this even reasonable ?

Nothing simple about it.
They are a joke, took ages to sign up. They accidently cancelled account without notifyong us now we are trying to build a new home and now they are making me jump though hoops waisting my time.

Do not pay by direct debit EVER
If you choose to pay by Direct Debit Simply energy will never take the discounted amount, effectively the price you get if you pay by a certain date, they will ALWAYS charge you the highest price. A downright dirty tactic.

Overcharged double rate of others
I got a call from Telemarketers which I normally ignore but it was worth my time ....they ended getting me half the kilowatt price than what I was being charged. I’m gutted I was paying high fees all this time

I’ve emailed customer service, but have decided to leave a review here to save others the same hassle as me.
I signed up with simply energy and then decided to stay with my current supplier. I informed simply energy of this and two seperate people told me there was no request on their end therefore they would not take the account. Two days later, they took my account over so I contacted my supplier to be switched back. They will not run direct debit on your last bill!!
My direct debit has always been configured properly. But they intentionally didnt do direct debit on the last bill for the obvious reason.
Just remembwr yo oay your last bill manually to avoid any additional charges.

First Home Buyers BEWARE
As a first home buyer I signed up to Simply Energy for electricity and gas.
After almost a month (and after having reenergisation completed + receiving a welcome back), they send me a letter stating that I failed a credit assessment. I called customer service and received no explanation what so ever about this, considering I have no credit issues - especially after getting a house loan (?!?).

I am an elderly pensioner with Gas and Electric services provide by Simply Energy... Might I add here... "Unfortunately".
My best friend has suggested that I take my case to a more public venue since otherwise they just let you hang and don't really care. And it looks as if she must be right since most people here only complain about Simply Engery's horrific customer service.

Terrible rip-off merchants! Avoid at all costs!
These scammers make money out of others misfortune. People who live hand to mouth sometimes are a day or two late in paying bills. These scum charge over $75 in late payment fees even if you are a day late. No heart or compassion. Their customer 'service' is non existent. No reply online and I was on hold for over 45 minutes and finally gave up. Avoid this company at all costs!!!!!

Dont think my family of 3 would use that much klw
joined simply energy 6months ago, customer service was not bad all, I can always reach them within few min, but things got kinda confusing when I started getting bills from them.
My wife and I we both work full time 5-6days a week and my 3 year old daughter goes to day care 4days a week...
How come on earth we could possibly use 1255 kwh in 69 days???
I did try to call them and ask how is it possible? It doesn't make sense at all but all their "explanations" are thats what they read from my meter.
The gas bill was high but not ridiculous enough to made me doubt that simply energy is robbing me off.
I have no choice but to choose other energy company.

No problems with this provider
I've been with them since they first started in 2006??? - can't remember what they were called then - no issues, even moved house twice and connection easy. Pricing seems good, they call/email advise new products and compare existing to new offer. Family are with them too - no complaints from them. I'm on legacy contract which seems cheaper than the other providers. I switched from AGL years ago who were the worst provider I ever had. No issues with Simply Energy even installing Solar.

It is a terrible company!
Never respond on time, takes ages to wait for them to answer the phone. And a brunch of idiots who knows anything and can't offer any help but transferring your phone call to someone else.
I have an issue since earlier April. After many email and phone calls, still unable to solve for me. They even make it worse!

UNSOLICITED SCAMMERS
I received an unsolicited 9 page letter from this mob of scammers ; on 28/5/20 that was worded in such a manner to give me the impression I had requested their services ! The letter even had a 11 letter & number " Document Number " to add authenticity to their UNSOLICITED correspondence . I already knew it was a scam and then confirmed my suspicions after reading the multitude of NEGATIVE reviews on this site .

DONT BOTHER absolute worst change over process. Numerous emails, calls to fix, very worst customer service!
Electricity, gas, solar. Change over process is not resolved 5 months on. Reliable power and no drop outs. Just filling 30 word quota to submit a review that's not positive.

Inn surprised with all the new reviews. We’ve been with Simply Energy for a number of years now and haven’t had a problem with them ever. s smooth. Only negative feeling I ever had was when I called today to see if they have a better plan on offer and I ended up with a dud CS rep who couldn’t wait to go home and kept palming me off. Luckily I called again and this time got a gem, named Luke who was so patient with me and walked me through all the options and set me up with a new plan where we are better off again saving us $145 compared with old plan. Thanks to Luke I ended up staying with them again. I would’ve given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the dud customer service rep I got initially. There’s always a few of them in any company.1 comment

Stay away
Called them a week before I moved to have the power transferred to new house. 2 days of constant calls to them and begging to have the power turned on after I had moved and still no power only very vague and disinterested man on the helpline. Called another company and had power within 3 hours. Stay clear of this dodgy unprofessional company. I have no idea how they're even allowed to be in this country. Scammers.

Used for a number of years now, very good.
I read below that there are a number of negs on this company, but many seem to do with meter reading issues and other issues not relating the retailer. This is actually unfair criticism, because your energy retailer aren't the people that read your meters, regional distributors do (Ausgrid etc), the same people that do it for all of them.
Anyway I joined them several years ago when they had a plan that was basically a low rate "set and forget", plan. I was sick and tired of every 12 months with other retailers calling me up saying my plan...Read more

Then having to go through all the research of finding which is best again, and of course some would give a larger "discount", but a higher per k/w rate to try to fool you. (Be sure to look at that it's a common trick). I can only speak for the deal I'm on, and every year or so they send me a letter saying they are "rolling over the plan", and just continuing it, so I have no need to change. I basically have them on "set and forget", now and it's weight off my mind. Hopefully they won't be so stupid as to start asking me to choose from "new plans", and all that rubbish as Origin do and I can just continue on as a customer. I believe a better way to rate services/corporations etc, is to start out at 5 stars, and take stars OFF for things they've gotten wrong, rather than just build up stars and some people never give 5 because that leaves them nowhere to go (which is silly.)1 comment

Your electricity bills will make no sense and go up and up. If you call them you will be answered by Karen who will say 'I can see you owe this much'. When you ask why Karen will say 'I can see'. Karen can see, she can read inflated figures from her computer screen, but she can't understand. Cancel your contract while you still have time.
I'm just talking from my experience with this company. They're terrible and their only response to my 'how?' regarding my overcharged bill was 'I can see that is the correct bill so there is nothing we can do'
where's the explanation. Also, the fact that our usage is only for the average family of 5, no business operating makes this completely ridiculous. In the end, it's your choice maybe I was just one of the unlucky ones who knows
