The clock panel on my Smeg Oven C9GMXA is flashing and I cannot operate the oven. Stove is working fine (it’s gas). Any ideas on how to fix without getting someone out?

Hi Ros
The oven will not work if the clock is flashing, to stop it from flashing push in buttons two and three at the same time, this will stop the flashing and then by pressing the plus or minus button you can set the time.

Thanks Lesley. I’ve come across that issue before and have been able to fix it as you described. The problem I am experiencing now is different- it’s a quicker flash and not able to be fixed by pushing the buttons. I’ve also tried turning on and off at the mains. Any more help would be greatly appreciated!

I bought a Smeg oven CS9GMXA around 8 months ago. It all works fine and has never been a problem. Over the last week the oven has this ear piercing continuous buzzing sound that lasts for approximately 30mins after the oven has been turned off. The buzz goes away if switched off at the mains, but immediately continues buzzing once the power is switched back on. For 8 months we have never had this buzzing sound until now. Can anyone help?
I thought it may have something to do with the fan cooling down, but if this is the case why has it only been doing this lately and not since using it 8 months ago. It is extremely annoying and can be heard throughout the entire house. It does eventually stop buzzing but lately we’ve had to turn it off at the mains and turn it on the next morning as the buzzing sounds is very irritating. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same issue John. I've replaced the bottom element and still nothing. Wasn't like this a few years ago. Would suggest you check both back fans and both back fan elements are working, as these are not always so obvious.

Hi Mark P,
Make sure the clock is not flashing and there is no "A" in the clock display.
If the clock is correct, then there is an issue with the thermostat and will need a service call. Our Service Department contact details are 02 8667 4833 or [email protected]

I have a brand new (three days old) CSP9GMXA. When the thermostat is set to a temperature (say 180 degrees C) the oven heats up to 180 degrees C and makes the correct beep sound when the temperature is reached and the indicator light shows it has reached the correct temperature, as verified by the purchased oven thermometer. The oven temperature then continues to increase to over 200 degrees and stays there until the door is opened or the temperature setting is lowered to 150 degrees.
The thermostat does not control the temperature. It is like an on/off switch with no differential or feedback loop. Is this how a $5000 plus SMEG oven is supposed to operate?

Suddenly the oven is not getting hot. it seems to sit around 50c no matter what setting you select. Top and bottom elements still seem to be working. Is there a common thermostat fault with these as that's all I can think of?
