Randwick store treated me like a leper for trying to protect my health during COVID 19
Today, I was treated like a leper at the Randwick store. After spending $449 on prescription sunglasses, waiting months, finally being able to get them adjusted to fit (yesterday), I had to return today to correct a bend in the nose-bridge. After explaining what needed to be done, I was told to remove my mask. Somewhat shocked, I replied that I needed it because I am at-risk (due to existing health conditions). I was then asked about 'my symptoms', which I explained included a constricted throat due to the recent fires (part of my condition), a...Read more
nd at the moment it was slight but I couldn't take the risk. Well, all hell broke lose. I was told that I shouldn't be there, that I needed to go to the hospital... etc. I tried to get her to calm down and listen she would not. She fixed the bridge abruptly, treating me like a liar, and left me sitting and went to serve another customer, then declared loudly that she must wash her hands first. Please tell your staff to listen, not go into hysterical judgement. All around Randwick, people are not social-distancing which is also why I currently wear a mask when out in public. I don't expect to be shamed for my age and health. I am appalled and will never set foot in that store again. Wendy ShawSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Positive customer service
Elise from Warringah Mall repaired 2 pairs of glasses (not purchased from SS) and wouldn't accept any payment. I'm not accustomed to writing reviews but felt humbled by her unconditional service. Thanks

McGlasses - Would have been better getting frames from a penny arcade
Bought “high end” glasses from Spec Savers Strathpine. After an eye test, I was advised I needed long distance glasses and was borderline “do not drive” without them. Explained I drive for work. The arm fell off the NON UV glasses within a month, and I was not offered a sunglasses option, even though I said I DRIVE TO WORK and needed sunglasses. So now I have expensive long distance glasses with one arm with no UV protection. You get what you pay for. Cheap and nasty - McGlasses. Go to a boutique store that really cares.

Continually breaking of glasses
Both me and my husband purchased quality and expensive glasses from specsavers. Both broke within a short period of time. We had them 'fixed/replaced, and again broken. These are NOT quality whatsoever.

Cheap specs, high prices
I email for an urgent eye test and frame replace the as the one they sold me broke but they get back to me after 5 days.
But my review is about their glasses. First thing they ask is whether I have insurance. Insurance just makes everything more expensive and now I stopped my health insurance. Insurance is for idiots.
Anyway. I bought a midrange glasses with progressive lenses and magic coatings for $750.
The coating cracks all up in about a year. Was told I left it in the sun. Well, I work in the sun.
They replaced the lenses. In less than a year they coating again cracked up.

Not sure when I can get my glasses!
Not at all satisfied with the customer service. They don't treat as a customer. Very disappointed. This is the 1st time I'm using their service and hopefully the last time.

Treated like a product not a valued customer. We have used Specsavers for several years. This year the wheels have fallen off. Paid for thinner lenses, just got excuses and now waiting until May or God knows when.

Very average service. Felt rushed to get things over and done with. Friendly staff but looked fairly stressed.
The store was thankfully easy to find and I was greeted then the race was on. Seats very close together and staff rushing everywhere. Optician seemed to have a short fuse and it felt like go in and go out as quickly as you can. I got the $199 deal which was okay but when I looked at the receipt later it seemed there were other things on there which were not explained to me. I hate that. I will not be buying there again. I wish I had gone to my local in Mordialloc and maybe paid a bit more. The glasses are okay and I hardly wear the sunglasses which was what I got in the $199 deal. Just a bit underwhelmed by the whole process.

Cheap yes, flimsy yes, uncomfortable, very
You get what you pay for in life and Specsaver reinforces this adage.
I bought some frames are 6 months ago which were great when i picked them however after a few short months they became super uncomfortable to wear - they nose supports became lose and flimsy and therefore because very painful to wear.
Spend a little more and get a lot better would be my advice.

Glasses made me nauseous - and I was told to get used to them.
I regret having taken the two pairs of glasses for $199 deal that Specsavers were offering. While I didn't expect A-grade quality products at that price, I didn't expect blurry vision or motion sickness either. The salesperson in the store insisted that it just takes time to get used to them which I highly doubt - I've worn eyeglasses for decades and have never had this problem before. My old glasses didn't give me these problems, nor did a new pair from a more reputable optometrist a couple of weeks later.

Health at risk
I have been going to Specsavers annually a number of years in different states in the past and have had quality service. I recently made an appointment for Specsavers in Grand Plaza Browns Plains. The staff very friendly and no issues. I had my test done by the optometrist and explained to him that I was really concerned as the past 3 months my vision has been notably blurred and currently unable to even read anything clearly on the computer and have to stand directly in front of the TV to read any subtitles, and informed him of my eye history....Read more
I also informed that with my last prescription only 1 year prior I was informed it had only varied slightly. So my husband upgraded his prescription only due to our budget. I did, however, stress my anxiety, as my job is totally reliant on good eyesight and aware at 67yrs of the possibility of cataracts. He confirmed that I do have the onset of cataracts but very early stages, and too early to require surgery. Other than this my prescription needed only a slight upgrade. I ordered my glasses and was over $579 out of pocket. I was more elated at the diagnoses than the cost and that within a couple of weeks I could see clearly again. I returned to Specsavers today on my day off to pick up my glasses, 8.30 as they opened after calling my daughter with my excitement as she had been concerned also at the possibility of my loss of vision. Can you imagine my distress when on putting on the glasses and my vision was worse and I could not read the text in front of me, and only when looking at the text with my head facing nearly to the ceiling did it come into focus. I was then required to take a further test when it was discovered the Original Optometrist had negated to put my reading measurements into the script. I now have to not only wait to get them to be re-made (with current climate could take longer) but have to allocate further of my time to return to hopefully get the correct work that should have been done by the 'professional' in the first place. I asked if they can offer some form of compensation for my time, but as a sign of fairness and goodwill, but this was refused. As I am the only income in my family my husband and I have to take turns in filling scrips for glasses and a $50 offer to reimburse me for my mess around and risk to my health from this 'professional' health service would have been accepted in good faith.Similar opinion? Specsavers supply of easyvision opteyes toric contact lenses online
Bought the Specsavers easyvision Opteyes toric contact lenses for years, but the last two batches I bought resulted in severe eye irritation. Tried to contact customers services without any reply. Bought a competitor brand and eye irritation resolved. Beware of this product and lack of customer support.

Terrible customer service
We purchased glasses for my son late last year from the Belconnen ACT store. They cost $450. I was told afterwards by a friend that for health care card holders in the ACT, that there was a concessions scheme which would subsidise $200 towards the glasses. No one in store mentioned it.
So I went back in store in mid January and completed the form and provided my heath care card. I was told they would call me once approved and they could refund the $200. I didn’t hear back for two months! So I contacted the ACT concessions area and they advise...Read more
d it has been approved way back on 17th January! So I called the Belconnen store and they couldn’t tell me why no one had called me. Now, we’re all in lock down due to covid-19. My family have immune issues and we cannot go out, especially to a large Westfield. Myself and my children have been in isolation for more than a week and kids home from school. I don’t want to undo all that just to sign a form. I called to ask if I could sign this form and do this remotely via email and phone. I was told that I had to be there in person to sign it. Now had the Belconnen store called me once the approval came in, back in January..... this would’ve all been done already and there’d be no problem. The current situation where we’ve been told to stay at home I’d have thought that specsavers would allow a remote refund and for me to sign the form and email it back. Why on earth would I need to go in person and risk my family’s health to sign a form and no contingencies in place for those who are home bound? There wasn’t even a clear answer regarding whose policy this is.... specsavers or the ACT government? I even suggested sending the letter in tangible snail mail format. I even offered to film myself signing the form! The two people I spoke to on the phone were rude and dismissive. I was on hold and the line then died. No attempt from their end to call me back, despite having my details. So other companies and businesses everywhere can make changes to current rules and you guys can’t? Can you kindly clarify whose policy this is? If it’s yours it seriously needs an amendment in the context of the current closed down world we live in. Given I’ve already waited over two months for this refund, this is really getting ridiculous and your expectations for me to go into your Westfield store in the current world (where we’ve been told to social distance) is unrealistic.Similar opinion? ABSOLUTELY RUDE AND ARROGANT!!!
I have ordered Bausch and Lomb contact lens samples with the help of the optometrist. When I went to pickup my lenses and I had a horrible experience with one of their unfriendly staff. She gave me the different brand and when i told her this is not the one we ordered she reacted in a most un friendly way possible. Next day she realised it was a mistake but still she continue to dominate instead of accepting the mistake. Some of the words she used...

- You can go to other shop to get the lenses
- It might be a mistake but i don't know who did it

Avoid if you value your health
Many whizzbang machines but not skilled staff to interpret and use the data for diagnosis.
Was provided with the wrong prescriptions, incurred more costs due to incorrect diagnosis based in scans
Poor customer service as customers rushed through in minimal time

Not Pensioner Friendly
My father returned from a Specsavers assessment and mentioned that Specsaver policies were unfriendly. The assessment was detailed. But the policy of not ordering glasses until full payment was made was difficult for him. Also there was no pensioner discount on the price.
