Extremely disappointed
Always purchased sunbeam, they were the best. Bought this kettle, and it just won't work correctly. Doesn't reach boil when set, always have to force the temperature when boil selected, then kettle won't turn off when boiled. Rang sunbeam helpline, "service"officer didn't want to know because I didn't have my receipt. Completely disgusted with sunbeam.
From now on, any other brand will get my purchase.

Not happy
I used to like sunbeam products, and have had good experienced in the past with sunbeam. I received this kettle as a gift, less than 10month ago the kettle has been working intermittently for the last 2 months- today we will purchase a new kettle- not a sunbeam after this experience

level indicator window- today we utilised the warranty and picked up another kettle- believe it or not, I think I'm a glutton for punishment- it's another sunbeam - cafe series- it's a new model - they have changed the styling slightly - looks a Little more robust ( another extended warranty was purchased) fingers crossed it lasts a little longer. DISAPPOINTED - A Leaking Experience!
We have always preferred to buy Sunbeam Products but this choice of kettle has not been a good one. This was a gift so we are without the purchase docket to return it. We were very disappointed to find that the item developed a leak such a short time after we received it.

Short life span
I have purchased 2 of these kettles & both of them leaked from the bottom. After the second kettle repeatedly leaked I phoned customer service & was told the only thing that could be done would be to return it to the store of purchase. Harvey Norman Bella Vista has closed! I will now avoid all Sunbeam products.

No more guess work
I am surprised at the negatives mentioned on this site.
This kettle does what it says on the box. With the added bonus of being as quiet as other kettles that boast at being silent.
All round solid kettle with a countdown timer and a temp guide.
Who wants to ruin a good tea at 100 degrees.
Boil it an wait for the temp guide to hit 75 for a nice Chinese green tea and you wont ruin the flavour.
Awesome work Sunbeam.

Disappointed
I bought this kettle last month for my new house and am very disappointed with the performance. While is is very stylish and the LED display is very kool the water is not very hot. It is at 'boiling' temperature, which is 100 degrees but by the time I've brewed my tea and added milk, my tea is cold. I've always thought of Sunbeam as a very reliable brand but this product has let them down. When guests are at my house they never drink hot drinks, complaining that they're too cold.

The cooled down very quickly making it impossible to have a hot cup of anything

Useless piece of junk
This is my third Sunbeam kettle in two years what rubbish leaks water out of the glass window down onto the base making it very unsafe and messy. When I approached Sunbeam I was told that because it was a replacement last August 2012 they don't not carry a warranty if they are a replacement item. What a load of rubbish!

Technically almost perfect
Purchased this today. Firstly I am pleasantly surprised that the temperature readout is accurate down to the degree across the full temperature range. Another kettle that I was considering indicated that the temperature is only accurate to within +/- 5C. It only consumes 1.4W of energy in standby mode regardless of whether the display is on or off which is about $3/yr which is good but not outstanding. d fairly stylish as well. Inside, it just has a shiny flat bottom which makes it appear very hygienic. When it heats it shows the current temperature and the time remaining which makes boiling water a little more interesting. The peak noise level is 69dbA which is slightly noisy but I would rather it be a slightly noisy than it to take longer to boil or cycle on and off and potentially making it less reliable. On completion there is a short, and not very loud, beep. On the negative side, there are three small manufacturing dimples at the top of one of the water windows and the graduations marks for the water windows are not distinct at certain angles. Overall it looks good and has great features that work well. The industrial designers and enginers who were responsible for producing this product deserve a lot of credit. Disappointed
I purchased this kettle a few months ago, continually leaks at the base of the kettle, I have always purchased sunbeam products, but disappointed with this product. Has anyone else had the same problem? Other than the above, I found this kettle quiet, quick to boil and very stylish, but obviously I got a lemon!

I called your customer care line today, it seems without a receipt there is nothing that can be done, so I guess I will be tossing the kettle out, and replacing with a cheaper one.

Great industrial looking kettle. love the countdown feature!
Kettle feels solid but not too heavy. Easy to pour and refill as I like to refill kettle with water from my Brita jug. Lid opens with the press of a button on the handle. Would have preferred if the lid opened slowly rather than snap open. But design is great for one handed use. Love the LCD display. Can see exactly what temp my water is and decide if I need to reboil it. Beep plays once water boiled. Beep is noticeable but not too loud which is perfect for me. Variable temp great as I love my teas!
Temp display on LCD, solid construction and feel, not too noisy, gentle beep that sounds once water is boiled,
Preferred if lid slowly opens rather than snap opens, can look a bit like a blender

Fantastic and Stylish
I love this kettle!
I love being able to select the temperature - I love that I can keep the water at the same temperature - as I am usually awake earlier than my husband.
I love that it has a timer on it (i am impatitent!) and it is very stylish - For left handed and right handed people it looks the same on both sides depending which hand you pour with!
Also pours really well and not too heavy.
Stylish, quality and the temperature selection is great
Was costly - however received a $15 discount and added 1 year warranty

Quality build, nice to use
It is well designed and built, brings the water temp up quickly and the controls are easy to use.
The filter, pouring spout, lid and handle are also worth mentioning as overall very good.
Have also used a variable temp Breville, I think the Sunbeam is quieter (and a little bit faster) to reach selected water temp.
Temp control very useful for herbal teas etc, and/or tastes and preferences

Hi Sunbeam Customer Service, my kettle base unit START/CANCEL button works, but at different stages of the heating process, it stops working - sometimes the temperature reading spirals to zero and flies back up again. It seems very confused. The actual kettle heating element etc is fine. The computer is not.

The same happened to our first kettle and we oersted with it even though our son bought us a new one which remained in its box till ours became unusable due to the lid. The new one only lasted three weeks. Soon after starting to use it the mechanism attaching the handle to the body loosened and it became an electrical danger
All we got out of Sunbeam was” thank you for letting us know - we’ll look into it”. No refund, no replacement on either unit.
Stay clear of these kettles - DANGER WILL ROBINSON

Yep mine broke same as yours plastic hinge has separated after it became sticky to open, pretty crappy sunbeam cannot replace or supply a replacement part and what does age have to do with it ????
