I have 2 go live 2050 GPS but when the 2g network shut down for the traffic updates I bought a go 52
Wait for something better if you want a tomtom, doesn't have a button that glows when charging, so if you have a faulty connection you wouldn't know till the battery was flat, has this stupid pop that comes up on the screen, saying welcome to priority driving, doesn't have a different sound for over speeding, swiping.
September 5th 2018 Update: The new tomtom go 520, is RUBBISH, and compared to my go live 2050, the tomtom go 520 is JUNK...!!!
It takes too long to do anything on this device, and the stupid tutorial advert comes on the scre...Read more
en, poor colours day and night etc, etc. doesn't have a proper on and off button, the previous model the on button illuminated red and when fully charged illuminated green.. It's really really rubbish, and when you ring about a problem, no answer...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Drive slow or you'll miss the turn; texting camera is next feature needed; right-turning to two-way
After giving up my last TomTom GPS device 4 years ago due to battery depleting, I eventually picked up TomTom Go 520 for my daughter due to the driving law requiring a green-L plate driver should not use a smart-phone as GPS. Thanks to the dictative police in New SouthWales Australia (e.g. Sydney).
Frankly, TomTom Go 520 is not better than the last one I owned. The symbol of my car on the device is always behind the road I need to turn into. And after I actually turn, the device's map takes another 2 seconds or more to show. Definitely th...Read more
e TomTom Go can only be a supplementary product to any driver not familiar with the precinct. My 4-year-old iPhone 6+ performs in par with Waze, Apple Maps and Google Maps for navigation responsiveness. My daughter's iPhone X outperforming TomTom Go 520 is a no brainer. Cars in Australia are right-side driving. TomTom forgets it and always recommends routes that include turning right into a 6-lane road, by crossing a 3-lane traffic from the right side, without traffic-light control, to merge into some busy 3 lane traffic from the left at 70 kph (realistically speeding at 80+ kph or even 90+ kph for most cars). No improvement for at least 10 years. Recently, NSW police have been crazily installing cheap but powerful "texting cameras" everywhere. In a single day, I can spot over 20 of them installed to trap people using their mobile phones, which is not allowed in NSW Australia. More precisely, you're not allowed to touch any added devices, including TomTom Go 520, while driving. Don't "add" a texting camera to the TomTom Go 520 (like what you can do on a speeding camera or a red-light camera) when you see one, because the texting camera may record your touching of the device and send you a fine. It can be very easy for TomTom to add a new "type" of camera to be reported (by the passenger) and gradually build up a database. If you are using TomTom products and aware of texting camera in your place, please submit a feature request of texting camera alert to TomTom.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

DO NOT BUY TOM TOM - CHOOSE ANOTHER BRAND
We replaced our original Tom Tom as it was extremely old. This model is just AWFUL. It is new and we haven’t been able to use it as although we are in WA it tells us we are in Sydney. It has been returned to the manufacturer who supposedly fixed the problem. It was sent back to us in the same condition with EXACTLY the same problem. We are going overseas in a couple of weeks time without the Tom Tom as now is has to be returned again. Customer service is ZERO. We have also had to pay the postage whenever it is returned. I wish the company would wake up to what their customers are experiencing and feeling about a shabby, unreliable product. Shame on you

Tom Tom Go/52 disappointing
I was Driving from Florida to Delaware the GPS took us 2 hours out of the way. When I called they told me to do a reset. The biggest thing the GPS does NOT let you know if there is a delay. My old Tom Tom let me know there are delays ahead and let me know if I was still on the fastest route. Sometimes it would say do you want to save time taking another route not this one. The rep told me to connect my GPS to my phone WiFi if I have to connect to my phone why do i need the GPS?

Waste of Money
The maps are inaccurate in Brisbane area. Especially in the Northern Suburbs.
TomTom has a problem with connecting to my phone. I need to reconnect every time I use it. If I don’t do that, I don’t have a live traffic. It isn’t worth the money.
The only benefit is a big screen.

Lacking many simple features
The Go 620 doesn't go near my old Via225 for ease of operation and simple features. You can't display the clock when there is no route planned. There is no way you can put the navigation bar across the bottom. You can't change the car icon. hen you go to night colours you loose all colour - it is monochrome. The map colours are very limited. It is hard to search a new route - too many presses of the screen. I was a rusted on Tom Tom user, but I will be looking for a different brand of GPS next time. These design experts seem to go backwards every time they make "an improvement".

Wow. What a disappointment
OK. Its hard to know where to start. I loved my old Tomtom and only changed because I was forced to. I also have a Polaris that runs Tom Tom maps and a Garmin for my motorcycle so I know a bit about navigators. Lets get to specifics.
Maps:- Not a patch on the old unit. Highways are mostly fine but if you get into country roads this thing struggles and can't cope. I ran the two in tandem whilst I could and the old one has FAR more comprehensive mapping. For some reason they have degraded the maps on the new unit.
Interface:- The touch screen s...Read more

Extremely happy
I, like a few others here are surprised by the negative reviews.
I have used my 620 for almost a year now, traveling extensively in NSW, Queensland, northern Victoria, south west WA and the north island of New Zealand and would be quite frankly lost with out it (sorry).
I was initially annoyed that it did not support my Windows phone but I sorted that out by using my phone's hot spot. Occasionally the voice control gets some destinations wrong which can be frustrating if you need to stop and set it manually.
In all other regards, I have fou...Read more

Do not buy this device unless you've got plenty of spare time.
This is by far the worst TomTom model i have owned to date (out of 7).
Very slow and sometimes non responsive, poor to non existent bluetooth connectivity, keeps freezing and the voice command feature gets activated for no reason whatsoever. You then need to press the screen once or twice to get back to the guidance.
I drive for a living, and this thing just slows me down. In the process of getting a replacement from TomTom (which is also time consuming), but reading all the other reviews, I doubt it will fix the problem.
This product does not seem to be fit for the intended purpose and as such it shouldn't be sold.

Massive let down
My 5th and last tomtom, actually forced to upgrade due to 2G being turned off rendering existing tomtom without traffic updates. This has to be the worst gps on the market. For a premium product Configuration is a nightmare, advice to developers make it user friendly and remove bugs before going to market. I want to start the car and drive not stuff around activating an app, waiting to configure, which it doesn't. Bluetooth is shocking never connects, fails with both apple and android. No speed cameras unless a destination is put in, that’s if it connects.

Rubbish!
I have been a TomTom user for years but no more! The GO620, which I was forced to buy because TomTom claimed they couldn't (or wouldn't?) support my previous TomTom device, is complete rubbish. Map orientation is useless unless you have entered in a destination. The tones for things like speeding cant be personalised. There are no services like speed cameras unless you enter a destination and who does that when driving around your home city. The text size for your speed is so small its virtually unreadable. There are no "picture" directions f...Read more
or major turnoffs and ... come to think of it the whole thing is a complete turn-off! Out of the blue, the screen changes and some female voice asks where you want to go while you are well on your way and is a cause of great distraction because you then have to go through a screen selection process just when you don't need any distractions. Lifetime world maps just don't cut it when you have to give up so much of the really useful features. I gave this one star because I was forced to - its a no-star device folks. Ignore this review to your peril!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good device, plagued by really bad Bluetooth connectivity
We had Garmin for many years and it worked well. The major frustration with the Garmin was inability to look up destinations on the mobile or web and send them to the device (there is a Garmin companion app, but it is really horrid and slow - unusable).
Tom Tom has My Drive web portal and an excellent companion app - so we bought the 520.
In theory, all the destinations and routes from the app, the portal and the device are synced in the background, but in practice it is done via Bluetooth link with the phone, which in practical sense just do...Read more

Rubbish
This is my third TomTom - couldn’t connect to the blue tooth on my iPhone for traffic- maybe if I tried 100 times I would get a successful connection once - finally got a replacement from TomTom and gues what? Same problem again with inability to connect to Bluetooth on iPhone for traffic - if this is the way TomTom does products then it won’t be in business very long

Suprisingly good given the many poor reviews.
Read the many bad reviews and was hesitant.
But, it came with USA maps and that swung it.
Uploading the maps and updating the software took some time (slow internet), but it all worked.
Driving in the USA was no problem.
Device attaches to the screen OK, but it is quite large and so wobbles just a bit. No problem.
I do like that it displays the current speed. Good for checking speedo error.
I have not checked some of the other functions, probably never will.

Lemon model
Like may customers I updated from an earlier model (Top Gear Edition) as traffic updates were no longer available. Even with WiFi it has trouble connecting to the iPhone that is 4 inches away.
Updating is time consuming and most times needs to be repeated to have success.
After reading other reviews of the product I would not even contact Tom Tom customer service as it seems the product is a lemon.
Many less features than the Top Gear Edition, don't waste your money on the 520.

A step backwards maybe ?
Well for me anyway. Updated because of the "email" saying maps will no longer be supported for my existing model and the substantial price reduction/deal on the Go 620. While it has WiFi, Bluetooth, Voice Control (that I will never use) it has removed most, if not all customisation features. Now has smaller fonts, cant change colours and cant even have a separate "tone" in warnings for speed cameras. Also "vibrates" at lowers speeds, something the older model does NOT do. Bottom line, used it for a week, took it off and replaced it with my older model that I will use until it stops working.

Excellent GO620 GPS
The updated maps were easy to obtain for an online aged novice.
Some map areas were not quite accurate however the new roads in that area had only been open for apx 2months.
The satellite connection I found was quite quick.
The lane merg is good, however I would have prefered merging into right would have been on the right of my screen.
I'm very happy with this model and TomTom have supported me well.

Error with screen no fix
I bought this device in the last two months used it a few times and its already giving me software grief. with an error on the screen.
I tried to reset it but nothing worked. it's disgusting you pay $400 for something like a gps which is fairly simple in today's technology standard and it doesn't even work properly
and trying and use their site to submit a ticket is harder than childbirth and definitely less rewarding.
So [censored word removed] TomTom never will I ever buy your products again

To many faults for a top end model
Lifetime maps are not updated often enough. POI not that easy to integrate to a tour. To many shout downs because system is overwhelmed. Does not recognise my own adjustments eg speed changes and unsealed roads. I can not change the alert sound between speed camera warning and over the speed alert.
My older model Via had al this functions. Why change from good to a very average gps? Only reason I use it is the life traffic information.

Could have been better....
Early tomtom gps's had the ability to lock the device with a password (4 digit code) which had to be entered each time the device was turned on. This function has been removed from the new models, a backward step I think. You need to make it a little bit difficult for the criminals...... Jim Robson
