I want a vaya sim card. Do i have to pay for the mobile plan first?
1 answer
Yes, in order to get a Vaya SIM card sent to you, you have to sign up to one of the available plans. For a month-to-month plan, you will be asked to pay for 1 month in advance.

I'm a vaya user and I'll be overseas for 6 months. Is there a way to pause/halt my vaya service for 6 months so that I won't be charged, yet keeping my number and resuming my service in 6 months time?

I don't think so because I never heard of a company able to do this. You should call them and try. But if it doesn't work I suggest temporary switching to YOMOJO to be on their PAYG plan just to keep your number. My mum and 3 other family member hardly use her phone, basically their situation is similar to yours. I found that YOMOJO's flexible plans allows for such circumstances.
oh wait. your question was from January.....then you probably don't need my suggestion

I received a new vaya sim, i activated it and got an email saying its activated. However my old sim is still working and the vaya sim isn't. Is there anything else that i have to do, to make it working?

Hello
You'll have to check with Vaya.
Use the live chat rather than trying to phone them.

Is Automatic loading of $10 1 GB data pack is mandatory or do i have the option to not load extra data of 1 GB
1 answer
On all the plans, the $10 extra data charged in 1GB blocks is added as default, but when I happened to use only a few MB (around 40MB) out of the 1GB, I asked Vaya via live chat to reverse the $10 charge and they were happy to assist, saying they could do this in the future - as long as less than 50MB is used. Seriously – what big telco does that!?!? I've experienced Vaya to act in good faith in quite a few situations and think they've come a long way with their customer service since being purchased by Amaysim in early 2016.
Vaya further advised via live chat that if you choose to remove the 1GB "bolt-on", the standard rate for data is 4¢/MB, or $40/GB.

If i was to purchase a vaya sim, do i have to pay the charge strait away and it takes the money out of my bank account or does the vaya take the money out when you activate it when i get it?
Thanks Noah

They take out the money directly. Wait until they have free sim offers and then you don't have to pay for the sim.

I got a vaya SIM card and my old one stopped working, I got told that when that happens to put in the vaya sim. I did that but it still says"SOS only" do I have to wait until a business day for it to activate fully or is something wrong with it?
2 answers
The same thing happened to me too!☹️
probably the sim is not fully activated. Contact Vaya. If they say your number has been ported over and your service is active but it still has that error message than it means your sim is faulty. This occur with one of my family members phone.

I ordered a sim card online and I won't activate it but I linked my debit card to my Vaga account. Can Vaya charge me via my card?
Annasked
I just signed up for vaya and received my SIM and I've activated it and put it in phone but it's saying SOS. Is this because it hasn't activated yet or...?
2 answers
One of my phones (I have 3 with Vaya) I needed to ring Vaya as it hadn't activated and they did something at their end and it activated after half an hour. Always try turning your phone completely off, wait a few minutes and then back on again as sometimes it needs a reboot.
Same thing is happening to me does anyone know why?

I write reviews for this page as well so i fully trust there are real people writing other reviews here. Thank you everyone for your honesty as i too was thinking of switching from Optus prepaid to a Vaya prepaid similar, the low budget one $18. So glad i checked in here first. I dont think ill bother now...
But my question was going to be, if you pay month to month as in prepaid, is it still direct debited or can you pay manually with any of their plans??
(i would never in no way give them my card details after reading here)
3 answers
Yes it was a plan without a lock in contract, so your account needed credit but you also payed monthly for your spend.
I did give them my card details as they insisted this was the best way to do it. I asked a couple of times about setting up a direct debit from a bank account and they were very confused and tried to tell me I couldn't/shouldn't do it and it wasn't until my father asked them that they said yes. Sexist anyone?
They also 'do not delete accounts' so your personal information has to sit on file forever (and is probably quite insecure)
u dont have to give your credit card ... company would have direct debit option or a biller number
@Mil112 is this how you pay,? I do not want direct debit as per all the other comments... but if they have a pay with a biller code it's plausible and possible. Is that what you have or are you just guessing??

If i were to leave Vaya how would I avoid the $30 disconnection fee
If i were to port my number out, would they keep billing me for the plan?
3 answers
Do not cancel your service, port away to another provider first and then notify Vaya that you have left.
dont even notify your previous phone carrier ... its the other company to do this on your behalf
Buy a $2 Sim from a supermarket, sign up and have your number ported over. Then say Good bye to Vaya. Its not too hard.

Should I sign up? Its good deal (power plan 18) but after seeing the many bad reviews should i stick with amaysim flexi. The amaysim page has $20 credit and 500mb which is not enough. the only cheap and value for money one was the vaya power plan 18. Can someone plz answer me asap
4 answers
Hi Alisha,
Doing the maths there is no real $18 dollar plans because 1Mb rounding on data means that you run out of the 1.5Gb included in the plan so quickly you will be forced to buy additional data packages anyway. If I was you I would try out Spintel to customise my plan to save some money or rather for peace of mind go with Jeenee's $25 plan (service is awesome!!) hope they stay that way.
Ive neen with them near to two years - no problems - love the deal - i stay in the useage limits and never had to contact them - wife joined too last week
I've been with Vaya over a year and the only time I've paid over $18 a month is when I made International calls. They no longer bill per MB, but at KB increments. Their online quota monitoring tool matches the third-party Android application that I'm using to watch the data I use. I definitely recommend them.

How csn I get my money back from Vaya?
3 answers
I have just concluded a successful extraction of a refund from Vaya. It took a bit of mucking around but it worked. I emailed them and followed up with a letter outlining my demand for a refund. I advised I would lodge a complaint with TIO if they did not comply - which they didnt. I lodged my complaint and referenced both my emails and posted letters. Within a week of that complaint, Vaya called me and have now refunded me my money.
Took a bit of mucking around but it worked.
We also had to go through the TIO and eventually we were given a refund but not the full amount we were expecting. We have moved back to Vodafone very happy now.
Thanks

I have bought a SIM card for the $27 Power Plan. I accidentally selected the 24 month plan and not the month to month. I have NOT activated the SIM yet. Can I cancel with Vaya by simply not activating? I'm happy to take the $27 hit. (I wish I read the reviews before signing up)
2 answers
Hi Brad, you can email them at [email protected], they do reply after a few days. I wouldn't give them your credit card details just yet incase they charge you crazy things they have to other customers.
I have emailed them to inform them I have no intention of activating the SIM or porting my number across to them and requested they cancel my account. This was 2 days ago and I have not heard anything from them yet. I doubt I will given their track record with my attempts to contact them advising I had accidentally selected the 24 month plan and requesting they cancel sending out the SIM, which they duly ignored. They do have my credit card details however (its how I got the SIM sent out in the first place), which worries me. The sad thing is I have no record of communication attempts with them because I contacted them via their online form.
I think I'm going to contact TIO anyhow to see if I have grounds to terminate the contract without penalties based on my (unrecorded) attempt to cancel before the SIM arrived.

How do I quit vaya?
1 answer
Andrew
Simply find a new provider and sign up with them. During signup you will be asked whether you want a new number or do you want to bring your number with you.
Vaya will attempt to bill you when you leave. This is theft, as you pay in advance. Register a complaint with the TIO (www.tio.com.au) if this happens and the ACCC regardless of the amount. This company finances itself with theft of money.

Can you purchased Vaya sim card and recharge vouchers from retailers and can you activate it in person?
7 answers
You can go to vaya.net.au to order a SIM card and to activate. They send them express.
NO and No, ... vouchers, ha - you are in for a shock if you sign up with this company. Once you give them access to your bank account make sure you monitor it very closely. Make sure you monitor you phone and data usage closely. You will find your data will not match up with the data you think you have used.
May I suggest you just don't put yourself through the pain in the first place.
Totally agree with the above comments. Don't use it, this company is not quite reliable.

I am considering Vaya due to their seemingly low costs and seemingly mobile coverage. I am not concerned about data, but have been freaked out by the insane amount of negativity regarding customer service and additional charges. Are there any positive experiences?
7 answers
no, lucky you asked before you join them. Their price calculation system is dodgy so every month you pay will be surprisingly high!! I joined $29 cap but paid over $100 in my first month then I quit straight away. Don't join them.
thanks for that. I have definitely decided not to transfer to them... still wading through the myriad of options!
Please as my first post states.. DONT TRUST VAYA.
Since my post I have recieved ongoing monthly costs & an email stating that they will not cancel my account until I agree to $30 disconnection fee per non ported numbers (I had 4 sim accounts with them. I requested cancelation in June.....
However instead of canceling account they kept them going (I have not used vaya sims since changing to AMAYSIM, who are great, in June)
Vaya have now sent my account to a debt collector..
They will rip you off & put a mark against your credit listing..

I have been hunting for ADSL provider for nearly 2mth, got told from both TPG and DODO there are no available ports in my area Drewvale QLD 4116, should I try Vaya? I checked from their web that my address is under coverage. Anyone have the same experience ? what can I do to get my internet ? Thanks heaps!!

Hi, I am not too sure about this as I live in Herston where we have good adsl2+ connection. However, from what I have read iinet seems to have adsl service in your area. Their plans are also quite competitive. If not, try Telstra and iPrimus. Good luck with your search.

I have vodafone and want to port to vaya. Is it a good idea with all the negative feedback?
and how long does the process take as i am currently on vodafone prepaid.

Vaya is great for 3g, it's the newer 4g plans that have problems for some. The biggest issue I see is the rounding up of sessions to 1mb, meaning if you have many small sessions (eg phone automatically checking weather, emails, etc) then each one will be a minimum of 1mb and they soon add up. A lot depends on how many sessions you hold (this is down to your phone and your local cell tower). Some people can hold one session open for ages, yet others get hundreds of sessions (and therefore hundreds of mb) in a day. If you try it, you can leave after one month, it costs nothing to port back out. Porting to Vaya should take anywhere between a couple of hours and a couple of days. When your voda stops working, put your vaya SIM in. Good luck whatever you decide.

Vaya are generally pretty good, if you are bringing over your old number be prepared to pay an extra $50 in fees. If you read the reviews here and on their own forum you'll see that many people have been stung. Plus they haven't fixed the problem on their activation page, more people keep getting caught. And this is over many months.
I am happy with this service, having ported over existing numbers earlier this year. There was no additional fee for me to do this.
No additional fee for me too. The cost and 4G speed is fantastic. Don't have a problem.
