Baby Q Q100

Hi There, I have a Baby Q that is about 6 years old now - so no longer in warranty. I think there's a gas leak as when I turn on the gas and try and light the BBQ it doesn't work. Can I purchase a new hose? I've tried changing the gas bottles around and still it doesn't work. Thanks, Katie

I am very sure you can buy a new one, however, I would first contact Weber via their web site about it. Their customer service was better than any I have had in the last ten years.

Baby Q Q100

How do i change battery on a Q100 gas grill?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Cav, I am assuming you've got an electronic ignition (with a lightning bolt on the button)?
If so, you just need to hold the button and turn it left (anti-clockwise) and the button should just pop off, revealing the battery behind it. Check that there isn't any corrosion inside the battery hole before placing the new one in.

Hi Yoong, there isn't any difference to the barbecue, other than the Q1000 series are the updated versions of the Q100.

Baby Q Q100

Hi Weber friends!
I have a Weber q which I have just overhauled. Soaked and brushed the ring and poked each hole with a paper clip and it’s working ok.
But there is a little flame burning around the ignition switch. Is this normal? Is there a solution?
Thanks!

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Mr Ahshum, thanks for getting in touch.

It can mean either there is a bit of debris burning at the ignition point- ensure that this area is clear from food, fats or juices from previous cooks.
Or it can be that there isn't enough gas pressure to push the gas around the entire tube; is your gas cylinder full?

Let me know if you have any further questions.

all the hose/regulator/valve assembly are universal across the Q range. If you need any further information, please let us know.

Baby Q Q100

Hi

I have a Q100 that I purchased in Australia some 10 years ago. It is hooked up to an 8kg propane cyclinder. The flames at the back of the burner are low or fail to ignite altogether. I have had the burner off and cleaned it but it makes not difference. I have removed the jet from the nozzel / value and this is clear too. A friend of mine has a UK version so I swapped the nozzel / valve arrangement with his which has small butane camping cylinder and it works fine, thus proving its not the burner. Unfortunately the brass fitting on the end of the gas hose that goes in to the nozzel / valve is a different diameter so I couldn't swap any more items out.My gas bottle is definitely not empty so I assume its the regulator?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt, thanks for your question.

Can you please confirm which country you're in? The parts of the gas connections are different from country to country, so by using another countries gas fittings you're potentially creating a gas-related risk.

Regardless, we'd love to help. Can you please call us on 1300 301 290, and we'll organise some new parts for you.

Baby Q Q100

I have a Weber Baby Q which I have only used a few times. At first the flames wouldn't spread along the gas ring (it only works on one end). I read up in the FAQ in the booklet which recommended brushing with a wire brush. I did this. I did the propper heating up hoping whatever the problem was would 'burn off'. I have cleaned it properly. Now I have a great big single flame where the gas feeds into the ring and hardly any flames elsewhere.

Everybody has been raving about how lovely the Webers are but unfortunately I have only had problems, right from the start.
Please assist so I can at least use it

Hi Henriette, thanks for getting in touch and we're sorry to hear you've been having issues with your Baby Q.

It's great that you've tried brushing your burner tube, and this is a typical quick-fix that tends to work most of the time. If it doesn't then we recommend removing the burner tube completely by taking off the screw securing it to the cook box and soaking it in hot, soapy water and then allowing it to air-dry before putting it back in. This should dissolve any blockages you've got within the tube.

We would also recommend cleaning around the ignition point as something may be sitting there any catching alight.

If you've got any further issues, please feel free to call us on 1300 301 290 and we'll gladly help.

Thanks again.

Baby Q Q100

Can I fit a thermometer to my baby q 100?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Tiger, thanks for getting in touch.

No, in short, you can't. To do so would mean you have to damage the lid (by drilling a hole) and therefore voiding your warranty and potentially ruining your lid's ability to cook effectively.
Can I ask why you feel the need to do so? All of our recipes are done by setting rather than temperature, so you can follow along easily without a lid thermometer. If you really need to know the internal temperature of your barbecue, perhaps a Bluetooth thermometer or hand-held thermometer would be better suited. We have a range of thermometers on our website if you're interested.

Alternatively, you can purchase a premium lid with a thermometer from our head office on 1300 301 290. Thanks

Baby Q Q100

Can you cook a roast with half flat plate and grill on one side? What effect does it have on cooking times.

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Rissa, thanks for getting in touch.

Ideally you would roast with both grills on, then the convection tray and trivet on top of that. This allows the convection style of cooking that the Q's are designed for to work properly, and you will get the best from your barbecue if you use it this way.

Using a half-hotplate can reduce the effectiveness of the heat and flavours circling around the food and creating the famous Weber flavor.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Baby Q Q100

I have a Baby Q100 but cannot connect to the Weber 445 canister. All searches explain how to adapt to a larger gas bottle but not what I need to connect to the smaller. I have the small hose which fits to the q100 but the brass fitting at the other end doesn't connect to the canister.
Can you advise how to adapt my hose or the name of the brass fitting that will connect.
I'm in England and don't have access to decent bbq advice.
Cheers.

Hi Rob, thanks for getting in touch. We're run by the Australian representatives for Weber and cannot comment on altering your gas fittings as we are not across UK gas standards - definitely reach out to UK Weber via www.facebook.com/webergrillsuk or their website https://www.weber.com/GB/en/home/.

Baby Q Q100

I have a Baby Q 100 which is less than a year old. I am finding it is only displaying a small amount of flame. I have checked the gas and made sure all the holes are unblocked. What could be the problem?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Carol, thanks for getting in touch. When you say small flame, is the flame blue or orange? If it's small but blue and hot, then that is typically normal of the Q barbecues.

If it's small, weak and orange, you may have a blockage or a hose/regulator and valve issue - we can have a more in-depth conversation and talk you through the issue if you call us on 1300 301 290.

Thanks

Baby Q Q100

Just bought a vitreous enamel roasting dish. Tried to use it to roast a leg of lamb but couldn't get the bbq to get above 300. Went back to foil tray and all good at 400. Any thoughts on why? Thanks Tam

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Tam, thanks for getting in touch. I would say that because you're using an enamel roasting dish, that would take a lot of heat from the barbecue to heat up, and would therefore not allow your barbecue to reach high temperatures.

When you're roasting, we recommend that you don't use a roasting tray, but rather a convection tray and trivet system, on which you place your meat ontop of the trivet directly, allowing the fats and juices to drain away. This video might be helpful to you: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/video/q-convection-trays/ - if you need any further help, please let us know.

I’m just someone who uses the baby q I don’t know much about fixing it- but the Weber q company is very helpful when I didn’t know why something was happening I just called customer service and the person talked me through what the issue was and how to fix it. I would recommend that.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi TOKO, thanks for your question. Can I ask what you mean by low? Is the flame small, but blue? Or a yellow/orange colour? If it's blue, then this is typical for it to have a small flame, but if it's orange/yellow, then there may be a blockage or an issue with your regulator. Try giving it a brush over with a wire brush to clear any debris (when the barbecue is off and cool), and see if this helps. Otherwise, we'll be glad to help.

We'll need some more details about your barbecue, along with your contact details. Can you please email us at [email protected] and we can go from there? Thanks TOKO

I have wanted to run the baby q off the small green 1lb bottles also, i believed this to be standard for the Baby Q in the USA? Perhaps the regulator has to be designed one way or the other?
I bought a charbroil grill2go x200 for this purpose because i do not always want to carry a large bottle, it can run on both.

Baby Q Q100

I've just bought my first Baby Q weber. I haven't used gas bottles before so am a bit nervous. Can I remove the gas bottle once it is attached? I was thinking of having one bottle at my place and leaving another bottle at my friend's place so I don't have to drive around with it.

Yes, turn off gas at the gas bottle first, then disconnect the hose from the bottle, take your Q to friends house.
If using gas bottles concerns you, you could buy a “Gas Fuse” which is a small device that connects between the gas bottle and the hose to your bbq and shuts off if there is a gas leak etc. To start the gas you have to have the gas bottle know turned on then press the gauge down, then the gas will flow.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Alison, thanks for your question. We can understand your concerns but reassure you that although gas must be respected as a dangerous material, it's a simple process once you get the hang of it.

Your gas bottle can be removed from your barbecue, providing that both the gas bottle itself and the barbecue are off at the time of doing so; it's a case of unscrewing the hose from the bottle connection.

If you have any other concerns, please call us on 1300 301 290 and we'll gladly help.

Hi Richard, I believe that spare parts are fairly easy to get. Suggest that you try a camping shop. I've noticed that BCF usually have the most accessories, particularly country ones. Lots of people with RV's use them. Cheers trish

Baby Q Q100

I have a Weber baby Q and a baby Q breakfast plate, can I fit another breakfast plate on the grill, or a larger plate to increase the flat cooking space or will this cover too much of the open grill area?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi, thanks for your question.
We recommend that you only use one breakfast plate or hot plate at once, leaving half of the grill open to promote airflow and even heat distribution. If you cover both sides of the Q cooking area, then you run the risk of a build up of gas, and you won't allow the flavours to circulate properly around the barbecue. Hope that helps.

I have a Q100 and I want to get a stand for it, is there one which I can purchase somewhere? I bought one that can be used for a Q1000 but don't know whether to open it as I am not sure my model will fit.

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Jo, thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, the Q100 stand (Rolling Cart) is now obsolete and no longer sold, as this style of Weber Q was replaced in 2014 with the updated Q1000. Our best suggestion would be to keep an eye on the second-hand market or to find a suitable surface (noncombustible) to place the barbecue on. Your Q1000 cart will not fit the Q100; apologies for any inconvenience.

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Francesco,
We would recommend that you thoroughly clean the entire inside of the barbecue, and take out the burner tube so you can get rid of anything that could be catching around the ignition. Warm, soapy water should clean through all the grease or fats inside the cookbox, and ensure they're all dry before placing them back inside. If you're still having issues, please call us on 1300 301 290.
