Hi Jeannine
I have never cooked a turkey roll but I would suggest that to keep it from drying out definitely leave the foil on. I always cook to internal temperature, so with turkey, it is done when the internal temperature is about 80-82 degrees C. Also put the foil wrapped roll on a trivet if you have one.

Baby Q Q100

What size gas bottles required for the baby q 100 model?

Peter Tate..

I already had a 9kg bottle that had been floating around for a while.
You can get away with a 4.5kg bottle and if you don't like running out then maybe have 2.. So far it lasting a long time and we have used it lots.

Mike_R
Mike_R

Hi Doc, a 9kg will last you a hell of a long time, I have a 9kg for around the house and a 4kg for traveling around in the caravan, just a bit smaller to cart around .

Baby Q Q100

Can a Baby Q run on small butane gas cans?

3 answers

Yes if the fittings will marry up-I saw on YouTube they sell them in the U.S with these cans

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Kay

Actually the answer is NO - in the states and other countries around the world this product is fitted with difference manifolds (and jets) that allow different types of gas to run through the,/. IN Australia and New Zealand these models come with hoses and regulators that are setup for LP gas sold and used here.
The smallest gas bottle that we recommend for a baby Q is a 4.5kg. I have however seen some people use a smaller 2.5 kg companion gas bottle, but you will need a connector / converter to go from the POL fitting that is on the hose and reg on the unit, to the companion bottle. The only issue here would be the potential for loss of pressure from the smaller tank, and therefore performance may drop - hence why we recommend the larger 4.5kg bottle.

Hope that helps.

Why can't we get models with the small bottles here or at least conversion kits?

Hi there - no it doesn't, it's got a difference leg footprint from the Q100 and therefore doesn't fit into the holders on the trolley.
You'll need the Portable Cart 6579.

Baby Q Q100

Hi, we have a baby q weber (older model) with the one piece grill plate. We would like to replace this with the 2 split grills. Someone mentioned to me that this is possible and for the 2 grills to rest on, attachments are provided for the grills to rest on the middle section of q100. Is this the case and where can we purchase these split grills?
Thanks! Donna

Hi Weber authorised dealers have a large stock of spares and if not in stock the can order for you-you can also try on Ebay but you may get an inferior product

HI there - the best thing to do is simply call Weber Customer Service on 1300 301 290 - as they will be able to advise the best way forward. If there's something wrong with your ignitor, they will probably even send one out for free if it's required.

Baby Q Q100

Hi I have a baby q (q100) just wondering if I could use the next size up trivet. The one that's meant for the q200? Judging by the measurements it would fit and give me more room.

Hi Best way to find out for sure is to go to your Weber dealer and try the larger trivet and see if the lid will close properly on the Baby Q, I doubt if it will fit though !

Aron Schroter
Aron Schroter

In one word -NO- apparently it has something to do with heat and air flow.
Too much risk of setting the BBQ on fire-suggest you may render your guarantee or warranty null and void.
There is a different size trivet and convection tray for a reason.
Aron

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

The main reason that you shouldn't do this, it that each size trivet (and convection tray) is designed specifically for each size weber q to give the correct amount of airflow - to give the amazing results that Weber is famous for!
Using the larger trivet and tray in a smaller unit restricts the airflow, and in my experience the results just aren't as good.
Hope that clears it up.

Baby Q Q100

Hi, my Baby Q caught fire, melting the right hand side handle, and control knob, also the gas line. Does this happen often? Was at approx. 180*? Can I replace the frame? Actual BBQ steel is fine. Thanks.

First time I've heard of this. The only thing I can imagine would cause a fire is if the drip tray has a lot of fat in it. Any fire needs fuel to keep it going, and the gas wouldn't feed a fire any higher than it's highest setting on the control knob. As for replacement parts, you would have to contact Weber direct.

abullbar
abullbar

Hi yes the parts are available from your Weber dealer, this is very unusual, perhaps a build up of grease or a loose or damaged gas hose.

Beej
Beej

Thank you both. Fire didn't start from drip tray, that's still clean, mainly because I use the hot plate 99% of the time, gas hose was a 3 months old. With pressure valve/gauge on it. BBQ was slightly dusty, but cleaned of grease the day before. Its also kept under a Weber cover in a big sealed plastic container from Bunnings. (Under our caravan, in the carport) Maybe a bunker is needed??? Thanks again. Will chase up Weber again. Beej

Baby Q Q100

My weber baby q gets up to 500 on the gauge when it on the lowest gas setting how do I reduce this ?

Sorry Mal, my Baby Q 100 does'nt have a factory fitted thermo-I drilled a hole and fitted a unit I bought for Bunnings.Works OK for me.I find it needs to run around 200c+ when i cook pizza and scones.I just turn the knob to the lowest setting to reduce temp as required.Suggest you contact Weber for advice, after all they are the experts.
Aron

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Mal, your Baby Q should be at 220°C (428°F) after 10 minutes on high and 165°C (329°F) after 10 minutes on low- are you sure you are not mixing up the High/Start position and the Low position?

Either way, you can do a test to determine if your barbecue is operating normally: first, preheat on low for 10 minutes and record the temperature and then allow the bbq to cool down and then preheat on high for 10 minutes and record the temperature. If they're similar to the above measurements, then your barbecue is working correctly.

If you just want to reduce the heat quickly, opening the lid will drop the temperature immediately. Otherwise, ensure you're following the booklet and manual you were given with the barbecue as this has all the information you need depending on the type of cooking you're doing.

Hi Frankiss73 I have not tried the fancy cooking, I suck at it, however I love the BBQ side of it. Sorry I could not help you

Mark Sims

There are different size trivets for each Q. If it fits then it fits. If you can close the lid, then it fits. I'm not sure what the problem is. The trays cost about a $1 each which is outrageous for foil but they do the job. You can make your own trays but it doesnt work as well. Rolled pork is cheap at the moment and a $15 roast will fit on quite nicely. Get a plastic bag of potatoes from the supermarket and put some oil in. Then put some chicken salt in and shake it about. Put the potatoes on the trivet around the meat....after the high heat period. Best potatoes I have tasted. No work.

Not worried about the money or what to cook Mark...lol, was worried about the size of the convection tray if it will affect circulation and cooking times.

Hiya Jude,
I haven't personally seen a lower lid, but a friend told me that if you take the rear pins out of the back of the lid, the lid can be removed and turned upside down and stored in the weber itself. I haven't tried it myself, but "if" it works it'd be a great idea.
Just remember to reattach the pins before you cook with the weber if you do try it. :)

Hi there - Amanda is spot on. If you have a Baby Q100, then that has the lowest lid available - removal for storage in a van is the only option.

Baby Q Q100

I cannot for the life of me fit the legs of my Q100 into the cart designed for either model (1000 or 2000). If I slide one end in, the other won't fit. I won't let me slide it in, which is what the directions imply is the way to do it?
Help!!

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi there - unfortunately that's because the older style Q100 is NOT designed to fit the NEW Portable Cart that is designed for the new model Q1000 and Q2000.
The cart the suits is the Rolling Cart (model number 6548) which is still available to purchase - the best bet is to check with your local Weber Specialist Dealer - if they don't have it in stock they will be able to get it from Weber no problems.
Hope that helps.

Baby Q Q100

Is it ok to use a 1.5kg gas bottle with a weber baby q 100. the manual to use minimum 4.5kg! Why is this? is it because you may ran out of gas

3 answers
Ricshaw

Can't say, we have the bayonet connector hose, and connect to our 9kg bottles in the caravan. It may be a volume problem. I would have thought that the 1.5kg would at least do you for one cooking session.

Moz30
Moz30

I have no idea why I use a 4.5kg or 9kg bottle. If you are unsure you should check with the retailer.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

G'day Dave,
Firstly, sorry for the late reply, I missed the email in my inbox.
Basically the reason for saying you should use a 4.5kg bottle is all about the pressure that you get, anything smaller than that and the pressure getting to the unit will not be great enough for us to guarantee the performance you will get. It's certainly not because we think you will run out of gas too soon using a smaller one, as all the Weber Q's use a very small amount of gas compared with most other barbies. Of course it's totally up to you if you use a smaller bottle, but once again, we couldn't be sure of the cooking result you will get.
Hope that helps,
Cheers,

Moz30

We have not had that problem with the hot plate for eggs, are you closing the lid? The steak we cook on the griddle plate, the one it comes with but again you have to close the lid.Hope this helps.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Andrew

All the Weber Q's are designed to pre-heat on HIGH with the lid down for 10 minutes before doing ANY cooking. Also, when using a hotplate on top of the grill you need to preheat for another 5 minutes or so - just flick some water on the hotplate and if it sizzles then you're ready to cook on the plate - but I must say, the Weber Q is designed to cook your steak on the GRILL not a hotplate. You won't get flare ups and fat fires when cooking on the grill like a normal barbie, and the results are amazing.

Check out the website for videos on how to get great results.

Or shoot me a message with any other questions you may have.
