Can I use a Baby Q with a direct hose to a 3.25kg bottle? It came with a hose and regulator that had to be screwed into a 8.5kg bottle but I would like to go a bit lighter?
Cazasked
Hi I am excited about our new Baby Q for holidays but confused about all the info in Weber BBQ Owners Guide about ULPG and LPG. We have a 4kg LPG which we want to use and will be buying a spare one same size for my ease of use. Is that a problem? Caz

Hi Caz, a 4kg LPG bottle will be suitable to use on your Baby Q. Is there any more information that you need clarification on?
thank you - that is great. Caz

Instead of using a foil tray under the trivet for roasting is there a stainless steel version. I hate throwing foil in the garbage. Any ideas would be helpful
3 answers
Really, go to bunnings or any hardware store for a dripping tray, or even go to Kmat and just buy a oven tray with high sides on it, Take the measurements how deep it is to fit and have a look mate, you could probably buy something at Coles or Woolies
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Toni, at this stage we don't have a non-disposable version, but we appreciate your feedback and will pass it onto our team. Thanks!
Thank you
My husband is a fairly good handyman I am going to buy a stainless steel tray and have him make the necessary holes to replicate your foil tray for under the trivet.

Does the large Weber frying pan fit on the Q1200?

Hi Rob, you'll want to look at the Small Frying Pan, as they Large one takes up too much of the grill.

Hi
When lighting my baby Q sometimes the flame doesn't run to the end of the burner, and when I close the lid it goes out. The flame appears normal ie small blue flame.
I have tried leaving the lid open for 4-5 minutes and then close the lid and this works ok 99% of the time.
Any ideas??

try cleaning the gas outlets and maybe your gas hose either has a leak or the connections are blocked with the hose.
Thanks for getting back to me Chris.
I have replaced the hose and regulator, dismantled the burner and cleaned all the holes and blew it out with compressed air. I still have the problem.
A BBQ isn't exactly rocket science, so I assume I am missing one small thing.
When it is up and going, it takes me 1 hour to cook 1KG roast pork (with crackle to drool over) this is a fully belt for the whole time, is this the norm?
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
It sounds like you're sorted out your issue Bud! Cleaning out the burner tube and ensuring you have enough gas levels would be the best way to rectify that type of issue, and any further issues could be to do with the regulator.
Please let us know if you have any further issues.
Deborah J.asked
I don't have a 'roast setting' on my Baby Q which is more than 5 years old. Curious what setting that would look like.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Deborah, roasting is usually set at two notches above medium, which should be the 'half-moon' image you see on your knob. If that's not what you see, then please feel free to send us an image to [email protected] and we can help you through it. Also, there should be diagrams in your product handbook that you can refer to.
Lachlan C.asked
Hi I 've got yellow flames on my old Q100. Is there a way to adjust the air intake to get back to blue flames?
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Lachlan, there isn't a way to adjust the air intake, and you shouldn't have to. It sounds like you've either got a leak/seal issue in your gas connections, or there is an issue with your regulator. If you could please call us on 1300 301 290 and have your serial number handy, we can help. In the mean time, do a soapy water test to see if there are any leaks.
ok thanks for the help. Will see how I go

Hi there,
Does the weber baby q use LPG gas only? And is it safe to use a 4.5lpg gas cylinder bottle?
Thanks
2 answers
Hi there,
Yes the weber baby q only uses LPG gas as that is what came with mine when I first received it. As far as I know you can use a small or larger LPG gas cylinder bottle as they fit underneath the weber baby q if you have purchased the stand for the weber baby q. Hope this helps
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Hunter, yes Baby Q barbecues only use LPG gas. 4.5kg bottles is the minimum size bottle we recommend with these barbecues.

My baby Q is a few months old now, however it never seems to have full alight & burner pressure ?, gas bottle is full, there is completely NO wind today and it still goes out every 4/5 minutes and the gas ring still isn’t completely lit ?
It eventually stays alight however it is a pain having to re light it and loosing heat and wasting gas . Any thoughts ?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Jamie, have you tried cleaning out the burner tube to ensure all the holes are clear? If that's not the issue, it could be something to do with the regulator. Check to see that you've still got an 'o' ring on the end of the hose that goes into the bottle, and ensure there are no leaks in the hose (soapy water test). There is also a little hole on the regulator itself that can be blocked, so check that too.
If none of this helps, please call our customer service team on 1300 301 290 and have your serial number handy and we can go through some troubleshooting :)

Can you use a rotisserie for cooking a chicken in baby q

Hi Brian, yes you can. It would have to be a relatively small/medium chicken but there is a rotisserie available for them. It's $159.90RRP

Hi there, can a longer gas hoze work ok with baby Q ? From a 4.5 kg cylinder. I have been told the 3 metre hose looses too much pressure. Travelling about in Oz, there are a lot of windy spots which challenges any bbq. Any experiences on this topic? Cheers and thanks
Wendygasked
I have just bought a q1200 and while cooking a roast noticed the gas was not burning evenly around the ring. It is also making a pouting noise. Is this normal?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Wendy, have you cleaned the burner tube recently? It could be the sound of burning fats/debris inside the tube if it hasn't been cleaned. You can take the entire tube out and soak it in hot water every 5-6 cooks to avoid this, along with cleaning out the cookbox.
If that's not the case, it could be a gas input issue. If you're still seeing the same issues after giving it a good clean, best to give us a call on 1300 301 290 and we can go from there. Thanks!

What setting would cook at 180 degs?
3 answers
I don't know. You're best off using an old style oven temperature gauge if your unit doesn't come with the in-built temp gauge.
Thanks
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Geoff, we can't guarantee a particular temp at a particular setting, so we have created all of our recipes to go by setting on the dial rather than cooking by temp. That being said, you can use a Bluetooth thermometer like our iGrill with an ambient probe and monitor the internal temp of your Q, or if you have a thermometer in the lid you can use that too.

How do you replace the battery on baby q?
2 answers
https://www.hunker.com/13409070/how-to-change-the-batteries-on-a-weber-q
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Jo, if you've got an electronic ignition (with a lightning bolt on the front), then you simply grab the button, turn it slightly to the left 1/4 turn and the button should be able to be pulled out. From there you simply replace the battery and put it back in the way you took it out (1/4 turn back to the right). Hope that helps!
Erinasked
Has anyone else had trouble with it blowing out? I am trying to roast a lamb with it blowing out every 5 minutes and its not very windy.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Erin, that's not good to hear.
This to check are:
- Whether you have enough gas in the bottle to sustain constant temp during the cook
- is there anything restricting the airflow around the mesh at the end of the burner tube (reducing bush)?
- check the regulator ('disc' metal part on the hose) as there is a small hole that can become blocked - if you clear it with a pin this may help better regulate the air flow.
Other than that, please call us on 1300 301 290 so we can look into this further. Thanks!
Diedasked
Can I use a non-stick hot plate line on my Baby Q grill.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi, I assume you meant liner on your Q? In short, yes, you can use it but we don't recommend them. They don't allow the fats and juices to drain away from what you're cooking and can stew your meat, as well as present a fire hazard. Also, it doesn't allow the natural convection to work effectively inside the barbecue, so you won't get the best results. Hope that helps clarify things for you.
