How do you remove the Weber Q from the trolley?
5 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Andy, if you've got the Weber Family Q, then you cannot remove the barbecue from the cart; they are one piece.
Hi, that's not correct, I was able to remove it by removing the 4 screws. I rang a local weber service centre and was given this advice!
Hi Andy, which screws did you remove? Thanks!
Robert M.asked
I have one and do love it. I'm considering adding the Weber Q Rotisserie (Q300/Q3000 series). What size is the largest chicken/turkey one could put in it or leg of lamb? I think Rotisserie still has the edge for roasting a piece of meat. The Q does produce the best crackling on pork.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Robert, you've got 6kgs to play with on the Family Q Rotisserie- that's the weight limit.
So that could be 3, 2kg Chickens, 2, 3kg legs of lamb, etc. Hope that helps!

If you leave the lid down for more than 30 minutes what will happen to the lid?
2 answers
Nothing, with nothing cooking or cooking, except lid does get hot to touch, on high settings on both burners. The Q gets to a temperature and stays at this can be useful for some cuts of meat, thick large steaks/chops for example (25mm to 40 thick). All depends how you like your meat cooked. I cook my steaks on both high burner settings after 10/15 min warm up for one and a half minutes each side for rare eating. These would be generally 20 to 25mm thick by about 100 to 125mm in size.
I don't think enough specific information about food/meat sizes is given in supporting documentation because it is critical along with timing and heat to get food cooked to perfection and I spent some time working it out when I first bought my Webber Q.
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Erik, absolutely nothing! Our barbecues are designed for lid-down cooking. As long as you're setting your barbecue up correctly according to the instructions provided with your barbecue, then it should keep all those delicious smokes/vapours circulating around the food and creating that famous Weber flavour!
Anthony S.asked
I have just bought a roasting trivet for my Family Q but i currently have a a half grill half hotplate on my bbq.
Can I use the Trivet with the half hotplate installed or do i need to change it back to a full grill setup befroe using the trivet for roasting?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Anthony, best to roast or bake with both grills in, rather than a half-hotplate & grill combo. This is for optimal airflow and heat levels, with the convective-style of heat that our barbecues use to roast/bake. Hope this helps!
Andrewasked
Thinking about buying the Webber Q 3100. How easy is it to roast with? How do you make sure that your roasting at the right temp? Many thanks in advance.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Andrew, great to hear you're considering one of our products! We're happy to help in any way we can.
Our barbecues are known for their versatility, and this includes roasting. The guides, recipes and any other material we produce are written by setting, rather than by temperature. We do this so that no matter what model you buy (Standard 3100 or the Premium 3200), you'll be able to cook the same.
We have guides that will give you an estimated cook time by weight, which helps you know when your roast is ready. We also have thermometer accessories available if you want to be accurate.
Let us know if you need any further clarification Andrew.

How do place my gas bottle to its support?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Hans, we're not sure what issue you're having- you should be able to just place the gas bottle on the shelf on the cart, underneath the barbecue? Unless you've got a different model barbecue to the Family Q?
Cobyasked
My FamilyQ hot plates keep falling down while I am cooking, I'm assuming this is not normal?
Thanks.
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Coby, that isn't normal. It sounds like your cookbox has warped so the grills no longer fit- if you can call our customer service team on 1300 301 290, we can help fix this issue for you. Thanks
Thank you for your reply.
Eugenia P.asked
Hi we are thinking of buying the family q3100 is there too much assembling required?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Eugenia, the Family Q models will require some assembly with the cart, as it comes flat packed in the box. The Q itself just needs the lid put on, and attached to the frame. If that is too much assembly, then you can always ask the store you purchase it from if they offer an assembly service. If they don't, we have technicians that can assemble it for you for a fee.
Let me know if you need any more help with that. Thanks

Can I get a thermostat for my new 3100. Or can I get a3200 lid to fit my 3100. Received a 3100 as a birthday present
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Alan, happy birthday! What a great present :)
While you can't get a thermometer to be retro-fitted to your current lid, you are able to buy the 3200 lid from our head office, as the body of the Q is the same across both models. You can call us on 1300 301 290 to place that order.
Alternatively, you can look at our thermometer accessory range which can be browsed here: https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/igrill-and-thermometers/
Trevorasked
How to adapt the stand to take four wheels...its too clumsy with two.
4 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Trevor, these carts are designed to be mobile with two wheels, and can be manoeuvred easily when using the handles. That being said, we appreciate your feedback and will pass it along. Thanks Trevor.
The "handles" are too short, its that fact that makes the unit clumsy.
You cant use the end tables, they lift up and could be damaged anyway.
Thanks for getting back
There was a post on the Weber BBQ Addicts Facebook page in October, where a guy had fitted extra wheels to his cart. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, he bought all the parts from Bunnings.
Claude C.asked

1 answer

Sue Basked
Does the half hot plate sold for a current model Weber q fit the older model Weber q 300?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Sue, yes it does, however you may need some supporting middle 'clips' as the older 300 series had a one-piece grill and not a split grill like the current range. If you call our head office on 1300 301 290 we can send one out to you free of change.

Just wondering we bought the Weber Q3100 model! Love it
Can the BBQ be detached from the trolley!
As we want to mount it onto bench top (outdoors) to be used without the trolley?
Thank you
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Kimmytom, thanks for your question. The Family Q models (3100 & 3200) cannot be separated from the carts- if you want a built-in model, then the Q3600 is what you're looking for. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you so much :)

Iam chasing a new fire bowl element and cord
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Richard, we can help with that. I'm assuming you're talking about the cookbox and burner tube, and perhaps the gas hose as well? All spare parts come from our customer service team, which can be contacted on 1300 301 290; just have the serial number of your Q handy when you call, so we can look up the parts easily. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] and we can handle your query via email.
Can I ask what happened to your current ones?
Staceyasked
Hi Weber is the thermometer a huge difference when BBQ new to buying all this
2 answers
I would say yes it allows you to know what the temp is without thermometer your guessing
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Stacey, we assume you're looking at differences between a Standard model Family Q (3100) and the Premium model Family Q (3200); we can help you with that!
The main differences are:
- the 3200 (premium model) has a higher domed lid, electronic continuous spark igniter, and a thermometer in lid.
- the 3100 (standard model) has a slightly lower lid, one-push one-spark piezo igniter and no thermometer.
While it is not essential to have a thermometer in your lid, it can help give you an indication of what is happening inside the barbecue without having to open the lid.
That being said, we write all of our recipes to be cooked by setting, rather than by temperature, so you can cook anything on either model regardless of if you have a thermometer.
QPOasked
The family Q manual stated that the min gas bottle size is 9kg. Will there be a problem if I use a 3.7kg bottle?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi QPO, we recommend 4.5kg to 9kg bottles for our Q range, depending on the size. The size of the bottle recommended is what all of our testings are based on, so things like amount of cooking time, etc are all based on a 9kg bottle in the Family Q's case. You just won't get as many cooks from a 3.7kg bottle, so you have to monitor your gas levels carefully so you don't run out mid-cook (it won't be used in one cook, but it will be used quicker than a 9kg bottle obviously). Let us know if you need any further help :)

Tim Masked
The Q3200 manual that comes with the unit says that following the pre heating, the temperature should be set on high when roasting, but in that case my Q3200 reaches over 350C. What is the right temperature for roasting beef in the Weber Q Family? Why does the booklet says the BBQ large burner should be set on high; this seems wrong to me!
Tim
2 answers
Tim I have the family Weber and when roasting I set the temperature to 180-200, for roasting times I do as they say and measure the meat when its sitting in the board. for every 1mm = 1 minute, so if the meat is 75mm thick for beef them 75 mins cooking time, you can also buy the thermometer to help.
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Tim, this is correct. As the Family Q has two burners and is a large barbecue, the outer burner is left on high to provide the right amount of heat and keep it constant through the barbecue. You need to ensure that you're only using the small middle burner on low for the first 20-25 minutes, then turn it off.
Are you using a convection tray and trivet when roasting?
Virginia M-B-Aasked
What does the damp drafter do
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Virginia, are you referring to the wind deflector part that sits over the hole in the bottom of the cookbox?
If so, as the Family Q cookbox is quite large, the deflector helps keep any breeze from entering the bottom and reducing the heat performance of the Q.
If you are referring to a different part, then please elaborate a little more and we will help the best we can. Thanks!
