My weber trolley is wobbly. How can I fix this?

Hi Martin, thanks for your question, and sorry to hear you're having some issues with your Q cart. Can you give us some more information about where exactly the wobble is? Is it at the top, where the Q connects to the cart? or is it at the base, where it connects to the wheels? Once we have a better idea, we can help you. Thanks!

Martin Gulley
Martin Gulley

Hi Thank you for getting back to me. The wobble is not side to side (when rocking it that way it is very stable) it rocks front to back, so with the handle towards me and pushing it away from me it has a lot of movement. We were wondering if there was a way to tightening it up or do you have any other suggestions. Thank you Martin

Family Q

Dear Helpdesk,

I recently bought a q3200 from Castle hill and only after using it a few times the black paint on the knobs has come off. Probably because i used oily hands when turning them up and down. Anyways, they don’t look very nice now and i want to replace them. Could you please give me the link where i can find a replacement for these knobs? Ta.

Family Q

Dear Help 'Desk',

I purchased a Q 3100 on 1/1/2020 from The Good Guys Osborne Park.

All assembled and working BUT I am puzzled by the little stand and strap. Your instruction book does NOT make it clear what the purpose of either really is. Is the 8.5kg bottle really supposed to fit on that minimalist stand - in what position on the frame, and what is the strap supposed to attach to after putting it around the bottle? It still appears as if the bottle [and stand] would be loose so what is the point of it?

Hi Brian, thanks for your question. I've sent you an email with some photos of how it's meant to be set up, but essentially the little stand sits on the bottom of the cart and the tether goes around the bottle. Just reply back to the email if you have any further queries :)

Family Q Premium (Q3200AU)

My Weber Family Q 3200 has 3 settings on the Gas knobs (Start/Hi; Medium, and Low), yet the manual makes no reference to the use of the medium setting. Some on-line recipes talk about turning the outer gas knob to medium after pre-heat for roasting/baking, was wondering if there is any documented use for the medium setting or is it not used due to the size of the Family Q?

How to remove the corroded battery inside the igniter. We had it for 4 years now but hardly used. Thank you

Hi Mercy, you should be able to twist the button 1/4 turn anti-clockwise and it should release the whole button with the battery behind it. Then you can wipe out the chamber and replace the battery. If that doesn't work, let us know as you may need a new kit. You can call us on 1300 301 290 and we'll organise it for you.

It doesn't work after cleaning the chamber and replacing new battery . We'll probably need a new kit. How much does the new kit cost? Thank you.

Hi! I've just bought a Weber family Q 3100. Are there attachments for this BBQ so I can use a wok on it? (There's one for the Weber Spirit, but I can't tell if they'll work for the Q3100 family) Stuart

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Stuart, there are no grills (like the Spirit and other Premium Gas barbecues) that has a GBS grill, which is what you need to have a wok sit inside the grill near the flames.

If you want to create stir fry on the Q's, we suggest you use something like our Q Ware Frying Pan :)https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/preparation-and-serving/specialty-accessories/q-ware-frying-pan-large/991155.html#q=frying%2Bpan&lang=en_AU&start=1

Family Q Q320

if I use 2 hot plates & keep the lid open the gas build issue should evaporate?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi James, it is more about the effectiveness of the convective style of heat that all Weber's produce when they are used with the lid down and with half a hotplate. They won't work as effectively in terms of heat retention, and you'll use a lot more gas using it with the lid open (not to mention you miss out on a lot of flavour with the lid up).

Hi Matt, have you checked the battery behind the button? Ensure you've changed this, and when you take out the button check that there isn't any corrosion inside the chamber from the previous battery.

If that doesn't work, call us on 1300 301 290 and we can organise a new ignition kit to be sent out to you. Thanks!

Family Q

Hi Just bought a pair of new Webber Q Family grill plates. When compared to my existing ones they are lighter and thinner. Any reason?

2 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Peter, our ranges are constantly being developed based on consumer feedback and our determination to have efficient and quality products.

The update in the Q grills was to help with longevity and heat retention, and they're now double-coated in porcelain enamel. We think you'll get great results with your new grills. Thanks!

Peter
Peter

Hi, thanks for your reply. I can understand enamelling them for longevity, however, the thicker material is, the longer the heat is retained, thus I feel the second part of your reason is not correct.

Hi. Does anyone know how to get the rubberised ignition button to 'connect' to the ignition mechanism so that it stays in place? Thanks. (2019 model rather than the simple twist on button).

3 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Pat, are you talking about a Piezo igniter (red button, about the width of your pinky finger) or the larger electronic button with the lightning bolt?

If your piezo igniter is broken, you may need a new one. if it's the electronic igniter, then you should be able to insert it, twist and it should stay in place.

Many thanks - turns out part of the mechanism was jammed inside. All fixed now and several barbecues have been enjoyed. Happy New Year.

Hi Maxie, the serial number will be on the back of the frame on a white sticker. If it's not on the frame, it will be under the side tables. It's also on the front of the owner's guide you would have got with your barbecue.

Family Q Q320

can you use 2 solid hotplates in a Weber Family Q 3200.
take out both grills and replace with 2 hotplates
or will this affect the flow of gas or cause gas build up inside the bbq

3 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Dave, we do not recommend using two hotplates at the same time as this can impact the airflow for the gas, as well as impact the convection style of cooking that Weber's a known for.

Best to use half hotplate and half grill.

Hi

I have a 3100 in Asia; its Hooked up the a 7kg bottle but I wonder if theres an adaptor or something I can use to allow it to hook up to a small portable propane can like the Q1250 models do? And whether this would provide enough gas from a 500g camp canister for example, to heat the 3100 for one-two cooks?

Thanks

Family Q

Hi I recently purchased the family q3100 and premium cover (7148). The cover doesn't appear to completely cover the bbq and you can only securely Velcro on one side. Is this normal or is there another cover for this model?

6 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Nina, are you trying to cover your barbecue with the side tables out? If so, try folding them inside the barbecue (once it's cooled down) and then see if it fits. I think this may be your issue, but if not please let me know.

Nina
Nina

Hi, Im actually attempting to cover with sides up and the cover just doesn't quite sit right. As mentioned if I Velcro one side down the other side sits too high to Velcro secure

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

It won't fit with the side tables out, that's the way it was designed. The side tables need to be inside the barbecue for the cover to fit over the top; just make sure that you have let the barbecue cool before doing so.

Can I buy a thermometer and install on the lid for Q 3109

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Andrea, we don't recommend that you retrofit a thermometer into the lid of a Standard Model Q (like the 3100). You can purchase one of our many thermometer accessories like the iGrill range, Instant Read thermometer and the Snapcheck thermometer and these will be able to give you an accurate reading on the temperature of your barbecue.
