Myself and partner chose the 'explorer' package, for some flexibility with cover, as we were hiking and going outdoors a lot in the Philippines. When an event occurred and it came time to claim, I was treated rudely and denied my claim without question. I would not recommend personally if you are worried about your belongings.

Don't ever take world nomads travel insurance. I don't think my policy was of good value at all. It was a total rip off. I got my gopro stolen in Brazil but Worldnomads had all the excuses possible not to reimburse me. I'm very disatissfied with such poor service. If something happen to you and you need to put a claim through, forget about it. They will never refund you. Worst insuance provider. I would actually like to give them 0 star

How is a car’s trunk not separate from the passenger compartment?
Do not waste your Money and Time!
The higher price that World Nomads charges for its policies, compared with other insurers, leads people to believe that World Nomads offers wider coverage than other insurers; however, it does not. Even basic coverage, such as stolen items, is not offered through this insurance, for what I view as ridiculous reasons (I asked for valid reasons and an explanation for my lack of coverage, but the company provided nothing beyond their own vaguely worded policy descriptions. I now regret not having read the numer...
Read moreous negative reviews of World Nomads’ service that I later found. During our trip, we parked our (locked) rental car in a pay parking lot, with our luggage locked in the trunk. Thieves smashed the car’s windows and took our luggage from the trunk by pulling down the back seats. We provided photographic proof, a police report, and a receipt from the parking lot. However, the company told us: “Since your baggage was not in a baggage compartment separate from the passenger compartment, we will not be able to meet your request for compensation”. How is a car’s trunk not separate from the passenger compartment? Where else would we put our luggage, then? I have since read a number of reviews related to stolen items during travel and could only a handful of claims being rejected (no damage on the car). However, I was able to find a significant number of cases where similar claims were covered.

World Nomad uses Tripmate and they are a Nightmare you will never wake up from.
My husband and I purchased World Nomads insurance for our 12 month Round the World trip. Thinking they will be great and they are one of the companies specialising in more adventurous travel. Little did we know until I broke my arm in Bolivia and had to have surgery. My husband was very carefully filling out all the claim forms while I was in the hospital and getting all the medical reports from the doctors to get the claim started. We paid all the medical bills up front and bought our return flights home as well. This all happened in August and we haven't seen a reimbursement check yet. Tripmate kept telling us that they are missing documents that we have emailed them at least 4 times. There was a period of time I called every day to try to talk to a supervisor or get some answers with no luck. Just imagine after a serious break and surgery you have to deal with a company you doesn't care about you for months. We finally got one claim approved, but apparently they send the check out on Oct 17 and it is Nov 7 now. Once again I have to keep calling to check on it. My advise to anyone from the US thinking of purchasing insurance from World Nomad make sure you read the reviews on Tripmate, because that is the company you will be dealing with and who is going to pay you or not. I am still hoping to wake up from this Nightmare. We are back out in the World traveling and still have to deal with them. I have been living in Australia on a working holiday visa for the past 18 months and purchased WN insurance at the start of my second year.

Fantastic Insurance - Wouldn't be Without It - famous last words!
I my last review I wrote how fantastic World Nomads are, and I stand by every word I wrote. Except the title...
Let me explain. I travelled to the Philippines, and as it was just a short trip, I didn't bother with getting the travel insurance I so publicly delcared 'I wouldn't be without'. Famous last words!
I saw a little puppy lying injured on the street outside the house where I was staying. The poor thing couldn't stand properly, and couldn't walk. It was probably about six weeks old, and in danger of becoming pancake shaped......
Read more The pup wasn't injured, it was so covered in ticks that it was probably anaemic and quite likely had tick fever. So I gently picked it up to move it to the sidewalk. From nowhere its mother came and savaged my leg through my track-suit pants. My leg was pretty badly torn in three places. I've been vaccinated against rabies, but still had to go to the hospital twice for booster shots. The cost was almost as much as one month's travel insurance. And, of course, with travel insurance I would have airfare protection, baggage coverage and much more. With my past experiences with World Nomads (two claims over 8 years) I can't recommend them highly enough. If you're thinking, "Oh, it's only a short trip, I won't bother", think about what happened to me when I didn't bother. And I can tell you, when it comes to World Nomad's travel insurance, in future, I WON'T travel without it!- Insurance claim madeYes

Severely broken wrist in USA, medical costs: $35,000USD+
I severely broke my wrist in the USA after an accident. Rushed to hospital. Had x-rays, and after excruciating pain had extensive emergency surgery. It was a very stressful ordeal. Apparently, theft from your checked-in luggage is not covered as it is 'unattended'.
