Pork roast, how long per kilo?
1 answer
I have a roasting dish for the twin burner, it's an optional extra. Cooking time, go on line and buy a wireless cooking thermometer, select your meat and cooking preference and you'll have a perfect roast EVERY time, think about 1 1/2 hours but depends. I always take meat out of the fridge to let it get to room temperature before cooking.

How do I clean the internal body of the bbq? its aluminium cast and you should not use oven cleaner, what is good?

Barbeques Galore were demoing cleaning one when we bought ours a while ago and they used a product called Barbie Sparkle by Bar-B-Chef. I finally got round to cleaning ours yesterday with it - so pretty greasy and Barbie Sparkle was brilliant. Non caustic - no gloves and I have sensitive skin!
And if you follow the instructions everything wipes off.
I did it outside over a drain but could have done it over a bucket like they did in the store.
I've now used it to clean some of the pots, etc. with baked on stuff and they have come up brilliantly too.

can we cook 2 pieces of roast meat at the same time?
3 answers
Depends on the size of your piece of meat hey
Haha exactly Gompie. There's three sizes so buy the size you need. I would just like to be able to cook something at this stage.
You can cook two decent roasts (like 2 whole chickens) at the same time in a twin Ziggy. weber sales people like Gompie won't mention that, because most people won't buy a Weber q when there's a better roasting option available.

I usually use the side burner on my current BBQ but I'm not sure if I could use the Ziggy using a frying pan over the heat, distance between the jets and the plate seems to be quite far away. Can anyone assist me with this please.

I have the small "Ziggy" and I am a Qualified Chef. All those people who have trouble keeping the thing below 200, have you actually measured the temperature with an independent thermometer?
I have cooked roasts in mine and believe the fitted thermometer is at least 75 degrees out. The time it takes to cook a 2kg piece of pork tells me that when it is reading 300 is is actually more like 200.
I do vove it in my caravan though.

the trouble with the baBy Ziggy is you cannot bake bread and cakes. I wanted something to do that. have no problems with my roasting.
seen some master pieces cooked in camp ovens with no temp gauge.. the ziggy should have no probs either .every oven will be different.a pointy knife is a great way to tell how the meat is cooking. gauge or no gauge.
steve g. I too have cooked great meals in my ziggy. All I am saying is that I paid for a BBQ with a thermometer and that thermometer is 75 to 80 degrees out.

We have recently had the problem of the Ziegler twin grill flames constantly going out when the hood is in the down position. It didn't happen when lid is open. Would there be a reason for this? Barbecue is less than six months and only used about a dozen times so not a case of overuse.

Sorry, I have not had this problem with mine. Best advice is to contact the retailer where you made the purchase.
I have experienced the same problems although I have followed the written manufacturers instructions on lighting the barbeque. After contacting the retailer the gas manifold was replaced. The problem persisted and the retailer then replaced the whole unit. As the problem has not been resolved and I consider the issue of flame-outs to be an explosive and potentially dangerous safety issue I will be meeting with the retailer to seek a full refund.
Have you been able to solve this problem, as we recently purchased one and having the same issue.

Can I take the heating elements out of my 2 burner Ziggy to give the shell a good clean?
2 answers
Hi Louise,
Better to check the instruction book for this! I have not had to remove the burners from my Twin Grill unit. After using three times, I use a good quality Spray'n wipe on the base bowl then wipe off with warm soapy water. Better to clean often and not let the oil/ fat bake on!
Hope this helps.
yes they were built and put together so they can be pulled apart. remove lid, may I suggest truck wash /tooth brush.before you dismantle.good hose off.

We have the two burner ziggy and brown and having issues getting the perfect eggs and bacon. Any tips? !!!

Hi Bw,
I have a two burner Ziggy and also bought the additional grill plate.
I use the flat side of the grill plate for my bacon and eggs and just use the one burner under the plate on the high setting with the lid open.
Perfect results every time! I use the same plate for burgers, chicken wings, chops and any meats that have a fair bit of fat on them.
Hi matey 52, We have the same plate and it keeps sticking to the plate.... Eggs end up looking like scrambled eggs and more bacon is left on the hot plate.
Do you or anyone else have this problem.
Success with the eggs..... Used canola oil medium heat and perfect eggs with lid shut.

I cannot get my 3 burner Ziegler to automatically light... It's a real pain having to always use a match. Anyone have a suggestion in case I am doing something fundamentally wrong?
Also where can I get a user manual on line?
3 answers
these are a new model [3burner] they should be covered by warranty....give the gas time to come thru.then press igniter..not in a windy area..
Hi guys, mine lights first time every time! Check your user manual, push control knob in and turn to high burner position while holding in.
Flame thrower should ignite. If not contact your nearest dealer for a demo or warranty.
Thanks for that. I guess I am now learning the importance of keeping receipts !!!!!

So I'm finding that cleaning the grills can be quite hard without scraping all the burnt bits off. I've tried the BBQ wipes and also washing it with the soft part of the sponge.. I feel like I need to use the scourer! Is it ok to use the scourer? Or scrape off the the bits that are stuck?? Also the inside I found after ribs Alot of crumbs were left which stick to the bottom is it ok the scrape that off aswell?

I usually take my grill inside to the kitchen/laundry sink. It does take a bit of elbow grease, but its easier than cleaning inside the bbq. You can use some pretty abrasive scourers and alkaline cleaners I havent had a problem with the enamel coming off. Just oil it after cleaning before putting back in the bbq!
Have you thought about using the bbq cooking mats especially with ribs and marinated meats. About to buy the ziggy bbq (cant wait)so dont know how well they will go. Cheers
What are BBQ cooking mats?! And where do I get them??

I have just purchased a twin burner natural gas ziggy only to find that the hose (1.2m) is too short to locate the BBQ under an outside wall light. Can anyone tell me from where/whom I can buy an extended hose 2/2.5m in length? I live in Sydney, Australia. Thank you.
2 answers
Not 100% sure, but you could give reese plumbing a call because from memory the bayonet fittings for inside hoses should be the same for outside hoses
We just bought one too and the hose was too short. Barbarques Galore sell them if you haven't already got one.

I have the small Ziegler & Brown barbeque come oven, I can not keep the temperature below 300 degree`s
which is way to hot for roasting, anyone have any answers to fix this ?
3 answers
If you're roasting, always set up the BBQ to cook indirectly with burner to low. I always use a roasting rack to ensure the food is elevated and heat circulates both above and below the food and use a drip tray which also acts as a heat shield.
You should find that the combination of the tray and the food in the BBQ will drop the internal temperature. Also you could add water or stock to the drip tray, to further reduce the temperature.
We had the same problem. Had to keep opening the lid to cool it off. So we took it back, and the sales assistant showed us that if you pull the heat adjustment knob off, there is a screw behind it to adjhst the flame. Know we can cook on low or high.
Where is the screw can't find it

I have cleaned my ziggy heaps. But on this day I wiped the front of the BBQ near the Knobs and the paint came off and has left it streaks on it? I did not use anything different from any other time. We brought this on the 24/08/2014. It is only 12 months old, you would think that it would do this? What can be done about this?
1 answer
This shouldn't happen! The Ziggy appears to be made of cast aluminium with a baked enamel coating. Something is defective for the paint to streak unless you have used some corrosive cleaning compound inadvertently on the shiny surface. I use an oven/bbq cleaner on mine but take care to only apply it to the innards and not get any on the painted surfaces. As your BBQ is only a few months old I'd hot foot it to BBQs Galore and demand they fix or replace under warranty. A few months back the temp gauge on my ziggy cracked and BBQs Galore replaced it for me immediately, so they know how to give good service. As the ziggy is their own product they would be worried about this sort of defect appearing out of the blue. I'd also refer them to the reviews published on this site - good businesses like to keep a good reutation. Good luck.

After heating our Z&B to cook a piece of pork, and after crisping at a high temp, we could not get the temp below 200c with one burner on low? We had to wedge the lid open 100mm to get the temp to drop to 160c and cooked in this condition for about 90 minutes. Surely the BQ should operate below200c without having to wedge the lid open. Anyone had this problem?
1 answer
Hi, I've not tried to cook at that specific temperature, but I would try half closing the valve to the gas bottle to see if that can reduce the gas flow to the burners.

Two small link chains came with bbq where are they attached to grill and are they necessary?
3 answers
As far as I'm aware, the chain links are to attach the gas cylinder to the bbq. In my opinion this is totally unnecessary & I have never seen this before. My bbq is running on natural gas so I just threw them in the bin.
The one chain is supposed to prevent gas hose from being stretched but as Pauly mentioned...totally unnecessary. The other small chain was included because of some obscure legislation requiring a plan (b) lighting device. I put mine in bin.
Bryan
The chain is there to secure the gas bottle to the trolley and is actually required to be used by the Australian Gas Association laws and if you claim any warranty issues they have a right to void your warranty if not being used.
