Can't believe I fell for this piece of crap buyer beware!!
The MX8 is a pile. Not designed well, only works if the pool is clean if there is any debris on the pool floor it stops and constantly has to be cleaned of debris. Buyer beware!!! Buy a Hayward Navigator!!! Want to make everyone aware so they don't make the same mistake I did.

Barracuda ging aroun in cicles
My Barracuda MX8 cleaner goes around in circles. In inspecting the unit I found that one side the pad has dislodged from its track. I replace it back on track it works for a while and then dislodges once again. Could you advise how to fix this problem? Could the pads need replacing?

Overall the MX8 works great! However, the wheels break from the chassis. Within about 6 months of my purchase, a wheel broke off of the chassis. Zodiac sent a Brand New unit to replace my unit, equipment and service and response has been good, great! Only problem right now is, again the wheel has broken away from the chassis, the Zodiac Representative says the unit is now out of warranty. Terrible cleaner
We bought our MX8 in 2013 and it worked great for about a year. It gets stuck on the steps, the pool vents and doesn't have enough power to move. We have had it replaced once already. We have to be home when the cleaner is on to constantly get the blades moving only to have them stop within a few minutes. We have to replace the treads every few months because they wear down. Don't by this cleaner, it's expensive and doesn't work. Very disappointed. I recommended this cleaner to my 2 neighbors and a friend but they didn't purchase it after seeing what I have had do deal with.

Do not purchase if you live in a leafy area
The pool cleaner works fine as long as your pool is clean. Every time it picks up a leaf it clogs up and stops. I live in a area that all our neighbours have tall gum trees. So when the cleaner starts and there is a leaf that has gone to the bottom the cleaner stops. It then has to be manually removed which is a ball when it is winter. So every morning and afternoon I have to go around the top of the pool to remove the leaves prior to them becoming water logged and go to the bottom of the pool. Would not recommend this product at all.

Zodiac MX8 Good pool cleaner
I went from a useless pool shark to a zodiac mx8 and its like night and day. I've had it a year and it hasn't missed a beat. Only issue is that i have some large hibiscus trees around the pool and the leaves from that do get stuck and it stops moving. Rang the LPS and he said to clip off the yellow bracket underneath to reveal a larger intake hole. Did this and now it doesn't get stuck on any leaves at all.

Great cleaner
Best cleaner I have ever had. Had mine for over 5 years now. Used the maintenance kit after three years and it was like brand new again. Highly recommend. Never have issues with it getting stuck and for many years had a gum tree near the pool. Also cleans up the walls

e chassis again. Now March 31, 2016 Zodiac sent a Brand New unit to replace my unit. So far equipment and service and response has been good, great! Zodiac is standing behind the product. Only problem right now is, the Zodiac Representative says the unit is now out of warranty. When I opened the box there is a brand new unit and the owner's manual which states a two year warranty. The Rep says it is two years from the date of original purchase. This Brand New Unit was received March 31, 2016 and has nothing to do with the original purchase date except that it is a Brand New Replacement Unit with a new serial number. IS this to say Zodiac is no longer going to stand behind the Brand New Unit Warranty? I have a real issue with this Zodiac position. Wish I never got the MX8 pool cleaner
Worked fine for first 3 months, I'm out there daily trying to get it working, suction in my pool is great.
I've had the inner parts replaced, they said there was nothing wrong with them but still replaced at 12 mths.
Im nearly at the stage where I just want to empty it, feels that would be easier than trying to get the pool cleaner I paid $899 to work.i

Absolute Lemon
Lasted barely for two years. The rubber tracks keep falling off and the tread is nearly smooth as baby's bottom. Sick of checking the rubber belt and putting it back. Have a pool for nearly 25 years. The previous cleaners lasted for more than 10 years. Also gets choked with camellia leaves. Going back to the conventional cleaner for 15% of the price. Surprisingly the product has lasted so long in the markets. Very poor cleaning thus affecting filtering efficiency. Very poor design. Engineers and marketing should take a closer look at their product. My second review.

do not waste your money
I replaced my Heyward Navigator that I had for over 6 yrs with a Zodiac MX8. What a mistake!! Have had it for less than 1 year and it has stopped completely. Had my flow rate checked and it is excellent. Called your Tech (?) support and was told that 2 parts would be sent to me. Have not seen them yet. Warranty will soon run out, and I can't help but wonder if I will be stalled around until warranty expires then I will be out of luck. I would NEVER recommend this cleaner to anyone. Instead of being called a Zodiac MX8 it should be called a Loser MX8

Review after 2 Years
The cleaner works really well (when everything is working!!!). I have found it to be very hi maintenance forever getting thing caught in it and losing suction or stopping completely. For the first 6 months it was great but after that i have had to replace both tyres, inner drive shafts and right hand side gear box. e a pebble create pool so it has heaps to grip to. I have to say it is the first pool cleaner i have owned so i do not have anything to compare it to but 2 years on its not working more than it is. I think saying "remove the cleaner from the pool after use" is just an excuse for a unit that wears out way to quick. So you tell people not to leave it in the pool. MX8 is Brilliant.
We borrowed a friends/ clients MX8 for a couple of days to see how it would work in our pool as over the years we have paid someone to come and clean it and that got very costly but i really wanted to do it myself to save the $$$$ but i did not have the time running your own business and all and i went over to do job and i saw her MX8 in the pool and i was wrapped with the way it worked so i asked to borrow it to see how it would go in our pool and i showed my wife and she said lets see how it goes so we did and now we have bought one it saves $$$$ and time so now i can run my business and clean the pool at the same time. I would recommend it to family, friends and not to mention customers. thank you zodiac.

Typical problems I suppose
Absolute crap. Cannot handle leaves and twigs. Tracks wear out and are expensive to replace.now my upgraded OEM gears have failed. Too many badly manufactured moving parts. Back to my cheaper reliable zodiac pacer. Keep it simple I suppose . the sales guy was all about"the newest the best" blah blah..... It's crap

rate is too high then the tracks are working too hard which results in premature wear particuarly if the sufrace of the pool is rough. We tend to think of tracks like tyres on a car, they are wear & tear parts and if a car is not driven in conditions it is designed for then wear may happen quicker then usual. Absolute waste of money
This item was advertised as the best thing for picking up leaves due to its sweeping action and larger mouth. The truth is that the leaves jam the mechanism and more time is spent pulling it out of the water to clear debris than the item cleaning! The smallest Banksia leaf or twig will clog up the mechanism and I would not buy this again ever! Don't waste your money.

We stipulate on our website that this product is not suitable for twigs. caught in the cleaner as well. When I purchased the item it was new on the market and I did discuss my needs with the pool shop. They advised me that this was the BEST cleaner on the market given its larger mouth and that I would not have issues with the leaves. What a piece of crap & ZODIAC themselves not much better
Ran for an hour stopped - hmm 1 single gum leaf caught, spent the rest of the day clearing single gumleaves. Checked the pump, hoses, etc. etc. etc. still the same. Funny the pool shop never had a complaint so they say. The web seems to indicate a different story. Rang ZODIAC was given the 3rd degree about what sort of leaves I have? Thought a leaf was leaf but apparently you have to check this to make sure you get the right cleaner - what?

Help needed- black rubber keeps falling off
Our pool cleaner recommend MX8 has worked without any issues for about a year. Now one of the black rubber as the tracks have fallen off a few times. We put it back & keeping falling off. Do we need to repair this. Your help is appreciated. Thank you Mary

Best cleaner yet!
We have been using this product for some years. Can't understand the reviews given on this site as it is a great cleaner that will even go on the steps of the pool and cleans all the walls. We were forever replacing other brands and products and have loved using this one due to its efficiency and effective cleaning. Our friends are now buying the products because of what they see the cleaner doing in our pool.

What a waste!
Replaced a 20 year old Kreepy Krauly that had eventually just worn out with this heap of junk. Was "sold" all the right benefits, pity is the product does not deliver. see if you are still inside your warranty period and for new tracks to be fitted. There are many reasons which could cause this to happen. The tracks are like tyres on a car and the more they are used, the more they wear. The loose track could also be attributed to the pool water being treated with chemicals whilst the cleaner is still in the pool.
