Not fit for purpose

published

The coffee tastes equivalent to other brands at first but started to malfunction a few months after I started using it (around twice a day). These machines just don't seem like they're built to last. It's easy enough to clean but keeps flooding so I'm on the lookout for a new machine,

has always given me problems

published

Purchased this from Aldi as my old machine failed after 4 years. This one always seems to put some water (and coffee) into the wast pod container. After 12 months it is getting worse so that now on most days we have to redo the coffee once or twice with new pods to get the coffee into the cup. Very unhappy and now looking for an alternative machine.

so disappointing

published

Our first gen machine died (spectacularly) last year and we'd been very happy with it. The replacement looks nicer but is nowhere near as good. Rarely do we get a full pod's worth. A lungo will do a short - if we are lucky- then simply fill the waste container. Some pod boxes are worse than others and if we stop then eject- retrieve and reinsert the pod and start it again, we can get a drinkable cup. But this is so sad and not as it should be

Love it

We have had one of these coffee machines for many years and will not change, the pods are delicious and reasonably priced. Also the variety available in store is great with most tastes catered for. Easy to use and easy to clean. Would not go to another coffee machine ever

Returned twice

published

I have returned this machine twice due to the coffee going into the pod catcher instead of my cup. The second machine is doing the same thing. It only happens intermittently but it's so annoying and a waste of coffee. I had the old machine that functioned perfectly for years. I'm ready to give up and buy a more expensive machine.

Great coffee but capsules terrible for the environment as not easily recyclable

published

The coffee tastes great and is really good value for money. There is quite a variety to choose from too.
It is very easy to use and clean.
The water reservoir is a bit small compared to previous models; my friend has one.
The biggest gripe I have is what to do with all those used capsules? It is a pain to remove the used grinds to use for our roses and then what does one do will all that plastic? Can't send to recycle, as the small size of it clogs up the machines at the plant.

Ok if you like Aldi brand coffee

published

Coffee machine is a good price & works well. We found Aldi coffee to be a bit uninspiring. Friends of ours who had the previous model said they use woolies brand pods. These simply do not work in our model, get stuck etc. it does say other branded pods are not recommended. Aldi pods work faultlessly, just make sure u like them.

Use it EVERY day!

published

Where would I be without my trusty coffee machine? I have another machine (a FAR more expensive 'brand' name machine) and far prefer the Expressi. The pods are much more reasonably priced and easy to find at my local supermarket. My morning coffee for the work commute is reliably a joy!!

The most inexpensive coffee pod machine for an expensive taste !

published

Being from italian background, i was born with coffee instead of milk.
This Expressi machine for me is fantastic for my short blacks. Admittingly I only enjoy 2 different pods. The No.13 Calabrese is perfect for me and when i'm having too much caffeine I use their hot chocolate pod and this is just an amazing taste. It is the simplest coffee machine i have ever used. And, I have owned many. It is always clean cause i always dispose of the pod immediately after making my short black and push the clean button straight after it with an empty glass under the dispenser disposing of the water that comes out thereafter.

compact, easy to use, efficient

published

I needed to buy an entry level expresso machine after a recent separation in my relationship. I had limited money to set up house. This expresso machine has worked perfectly thus far and being compact solves the problem of overtaking the kitchen with excessive size that comes with some microwaves. It's simple to use and I can fault it.

Love It!

published

Very happy with the range of drink pods available; full flavoured strong coffee, chai, decaf and hot chocolate, are our favourites. Very affordable and convenient bulk buys. We use coffee mate instead of milk and use filtered water to enhance the flavour.
It is simple to use and cleaning is a breeze.
It is relatively quick, water flow is great in comparison to other machines and it is always hot enough.
I've had other more expensive brands but undoubtedly prefer this machine.

Dont waste your money

published

I have had 3 Aldi coffee machines.
The first one lasted three years and the rubber hoses deteriorated after not being used for three weeks while I was on holidays. The rinsing water was full of miniscule black rubber pellets. Three years was fair for the $80.
The next two lasted 4 months each. The coffee pods fell straight through on the first one. The replacement machine didn't always puncture the pods to brew the coffee.
I got a refund and bought a Nespresso - infinitely better value.

no good

published

Our machine bought in October 2016 replaced our earler 2014 machine. The Earlier machine was better but stopped working after 2 years.
This 2016 machine doesn't make the coffee hot enough. After we'd had it about 6 monthes, we also have the same problem as others with some capsules appearing to be blocked so the coffee goes back into the machine and we were wasting a lot of capsules. Eventually coffee must have got into the electrical system because it started turning itself on when we were no where near it, sending water all over the bench until the reservoir was empty. We took it back for a refund.
Pity because we liked the flavour of the capsules.

I don't like it

published

It looks great and makes decent coffee. However, it's not my cuppa of coffee :) . I don't like the taste. On the positive note, it is very cheap and have wide range of selection of pods. In summary, I think it's not a bad one in terms of value for money

I was unable to remove the used pod container from my machine for many months, & eventually stopped trying. After about a year of disuse, I mentioned the problem to someone, this afternoon, & showed them how the container is supposed to be removed, so they could have a go, and as I did so, the container just came straight out, no problems! I gather it was because the coffee had become totally dehydrated over time, and so the pods had shrunk back down, so they no longer filled the available space...!

Anyway, I plugged my machine back in, filled up the water container, and tried to run the clean water through the machine. Although the 3 lights came on, then 2 went off (as they’re supposed to) leaving the milk/rinse button’s light on, when I pressed the button, nothing happened. I’ve tried all 3 buttons, and have tried with & without a pod in the machine, but nada! It doesn’t make a sound, either, so the water isn’t even heating up! Any suggestions as to what the problem might be, or how I might be able to get my Expressi machine working again?

Any help would be much appreciated!

How old is the machine ? Honestly from your story you probably need to go out and buy a new machine. Especially if it is not under warranty anymore. I have just bought the latest machine at Aldi and it is fabulous ! A lot quieter than the original one I purchased a few years back.

I suggest buying some descaler, it's not dear. Fill up your reservoir with water and a cap of descaler, the coffee residue builds up, thus blocking the flow. I hope this helps you.

Darcygirl01
Darcygirl01

Thank you so much for your prompt response! It started to work again after it had been turned off for a while, but I suspect it does need descaling as we have never done that up till now (unlike the Caffitaly we used to have that just seized up until you followed the laborious descaler process on a monotonously regulaf basis)!!l Really appreciate your help.
