Volume builder. That says it all.
Atlas, or Sarah Homes, or Longridge, or Gallery Living, oh wait, they are all the same thing, but also different just to complicate things, have serious problems with their inter-departmental communication among other things. I wonder why, when their are four different entities under the same name doing the same thing in the same way under a different name. I feel dizzy just thinking about their structure. These guys just finished building our granny flat which took 4 months. However, it could have been finished in at least 3 months, however, a...Read more
t one stage, no tradesman turned up for 6 weeks. We don’t know why, as our construction manager never contacted us during the entire build. Trying to get hold of him was near on impossible. There are so many things they will not do compared to a custom builder, such as put coverings on the floor so it doesn’t get covered in plaster, paint and other stains, which our concrete floor is full of. The electrical company they use charged us $550 to put in two powerpoints, which is a complete rip off and that company also has serious issues particularly with its management or lack there of. Our site supervisor was very good but very hard to get hold of as he was managing around 30 other projects at the same time. Once again these volume builders, specifically their management or leadership or lack of it have no idea what is going on at the coal face. From my observations the site supervisor did not have enough hours in the day to attend to all emails and messages from all his different projects. This demonstrates a lack of connect between poor management and what’s going on on the ground. It would appear to me this Organization is more concerned with profit or greed than providing more site supervisors to manage a large number of projects. I think management is out of step with what is really going on and need to provide the appropriate resources to ensure the whole process is less stressful and frustrating. Until then, I would recommend avoiding this builder until they can provide basic decency and courtesy to the customer during a build.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent service fast construction good price
I am very happy with Atlas living. The friendly sales man was very patient, did a few changes for my backyard granny flat floor plan without any extra charges. He set up a very clear budget list for me. There was no any hiding fees. During the construction time, site supervisor was always open to communicate. The tradies were very professional. By the end the quality building costs even less than my set up budget. I highly recommend Atlas living.

You are in great hands
From the first moment we walked into the Atlas display village to the day of our handover our experience was exceptional. Our sales consultant was fantastic at helping us maximise every bit of space and adapting our design to suit our needs. He was extremely knowledgable and very patient and genuinely wanted us to finish with a home we loved. Our building manager ensured the process went smoothly and the trades were great at their jobs and extremely considerate of our existing home. We would build with this team again in blink and are loving our home and are so grateful for this positive experience.

A wonderful asset
We had a fully self contained studio with decking built in our suburban backyard. We thought the project was well managed and ran on time. We made lots of changes to the original plans and the initial estimate from the sales person was very accurate. The workmen were courteous and kept the area as tidy as possible. We think the finished product is fantastic and it fits beautifully within our garden. A wonderful asset to family life.

Easy to live in
Although the house is only two bedrooms, it is very compact and well designed with no wasted space. I was able to make any changes I wanted right up to the last minute. All the people I dealt with were very helpful, especially the salesperson, who made the decision making process quite enjoyable. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the house is comfortable and really easy to live in.

Stylish and value for money two bedroom home.
Excellent service throughout the build process. Design for the situation of the building in relation to our existing dwelling was done by the original consultant and because of that very clever initial work the structure really compliments our existing home. The company offers an extensive building and colour schedule. Choices for bathroom and kitchen fit out (tapware, tiles, laminates etc.) were very comprehensive. During construction each successive trade arrived on time and delivered quality workmanship. At handover the building included ...Read more

Hi MCW, just wondering how your build is going now with atlas? We are considering going with them for an extension but we can't find too many opinions online or and end results pictures. Would love to hear your feedback.

Hi MCW / Louise, we are also considering an extension to our existing dwelling but haven't seen any examples / galleries of extensions. Have you proceeded?? Are you able to share some photos?
Thanks
Cant tell you too much as the second stage at a further cost of 3k totalling 5k for builder deposit, wouldn't provide us a fixed price contract, thus was not acceptable to the bank or ourselves and we didn't go with it. Counter to our initial impression I'd be wary with this mob on their exclaimed prices. We couldn't tell you how close their estimates were, because it was too risky for us.

Hi!
We are looking at building a granny flat in the backyard. I am wondering how much extra, per metre, the sewage, gas and electricity will be? We have reasonable access, no cement.

Hi Leo, Atlas generally wont install your services as it can require altering existing structures/infrastructure. I just found an local electrician and plumber to hook up the services.
Hi Tom. How was your over all experience with Atlas. Did the build run to schedule. We are only at the first stage. Paid $5000 and the plan is with council.
They can tell you this although it will be cheaper to organise yourself with local tradesman, I wouldn't go with anything that wasn't a fixed price.

Hi, just wondering how long it took from signing the initial contract to possession? We are thinking about building the exact same granny flat, however, we are just over an hr from Adelaide and wondered about the time it would take. Also what about the extras, did you get the basic build or include a stack of extras. Just wondering if we could see a photo?

Hi,
We signed the formal contract in June 2012 and the building was completed in March 2013. Council approval took several months because we live next to a creek in a flood prone area and therefore had to have additional engineering reports undertaken. The actual build started in early February and was completed quickly. Each trade was coordinated to come in straight after the previous one had completed their job.
As far as extras goes, I've checked the contract and we didn't alter much at all. The toilet was changed to a close coupled one and the bathroom basin was vitreous china instead of the standard one. We had a different front door and changed the wood on the deck to hardwood. We also changed the pitch of the roof to look better next to our house. I've taken some pictures but can't see any way of loading them up. Happy to email them to you. Cheers.
It took 6 months from start to finish I changed a window into a sliding door also made the shower cubicle bigger & put a door on the entry to the bathroom. I got the basic built & used my own tradesmen to build my pergola & extra decking its cheaper that way. Your welcome to see the completed Granny Flat when you come to Adelaide you will love what you see believe me .
