This week I am about to hire a rental car interstate. AWN is the insurance company covering the cost should any damage occur to this hire car. Should a claim be made - is this company reputable and easy to deal with? And do AWN settle lodged claims quickly? Thanks for any feedback received.

AWN is the issuer of the policy for the underwriter who are Lloyds. If you need to claim you go through Orchard Administration in the UK. The claim process can be long winded with plenty of paperwork requested by them. If you need to claim be sure to keep all records and photos. I would never use them again. I would prefer to insure with the hire car company direct.

Is there a cooling off period? Online documents say 14 days but with SAMPLE stamped all over it. The actual document you get from the selling agent has the cooling off period missing. AWN....is there a calling off period?

Hi Scott,

We have many different products of our own and we also manage motor dealerships warranty programs as well. All our "Warranty Insurance" policies (policy types listed on our website) have the cooling off period clause. Hi Melanie,

Upon purchasing roadside assistance the selling agent must provide a completed roadside assistance document which lists your chosen coverage, cover term, price paid, emergency contact details etc. If you haven't received this information from the selling agent, can you please email me at [email protected] with your name, contact details, date you purchased the roadside assistance, name of the selling agent from whom you purchased the roadside assistance. Once received I will follow up the selling agent for you.

The roadside assistance emergency callout number is advertised on our website and details on how to download the AWN Roadside Assistance (Apple/ Android) APP can be reviewed at: www.awninsurance.com.au

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Karen,

Congratulations on the purchase of your Audi A4.

If you are considering purchasing an AWN warranty product or any other providers product, prior to committing to a purchase you should review each coverage options available to you. Consider a product that provides the best covered component coverage that meets your budget and vehicle criteria, (for example our Extension of Mechanical Warranty provides our most comprehensive coverage) read the Product Disclosure Statement, Terms and Conditions to confirm you understand what is included and, what is not included in the cover and whats required to maintain your chosen warranty. Like any insurance product, there are many levels of cover, ask the selling Motor Dealer as many questions about the product you feel necessary until you feel informed enough to making a decision to purchase or not.

Tip: If you have questions, make a list, write them down and take them with you to the Motor Dealership.

I am totally worried as I have joined and guaranteed full coverage for parts and labor. I am about to have my first service done at the mechanic of my choice I was told. The parts I believe are to be bought through wme registered company? Is this the case? I also do not have a number to quote and no paper work sent to my address with any information at all. I have asked for this to be done at least ten times but when it is sent to my email, I can never click on the link to open it as it won't allow me and also will not open in my accounts as it just says no information recorded. That's a worry in itself. I am concerned because I had a two hour conversation with the first call and a future two hours on the second call to this company assuring me that this is all legit. I even got them two callers.

I just purchased a 2009 BMW 525i that comes with AWN "Classic" "Cat B" 12 Months Warranty. The brochure under "My Obligation" - You must have the vehicle serviced every 6 months or no more than 10,000km's between each Service. BMW Servicing is not one that's on a "scheduled" basis but one decided by information the car receives from its own computer. So how can I keep my warranty valid when the vehicle servicing is not by my choice but is by when the vehicle tells me it needs it?

Hi Stu

Unfortunately AWH will not honour any work unless you service it every 6 months or 10,000kms that's how they void alot of claims.

My advice to you is if you want to keep the warranty you will have to service the vehicle every 6 months regardless of the manufacture interval's.

I think on the forum there was a customer who had a BMW and did the servicing as per manufacturers intervals and they knocked the claim back as it was not there AWH terms.

The product is a waste of money but as you already have it in place you have to decide if you want to keep it and service it every 6 months which is costly exercise or forget about the warranty.

Hope that was of some help

Gidday, Stu
When I purchased the warranty I just assumed that the service schedule would be the same as what Holden says, after reading my book I also saw I had to service at 6 /10 intervals, I called up the warranty and spoke to them to get clarification, it was explained to me that Holden don't have any warranty interest on the vehicle, and if the Commodore had a problem Holden wont contribute to the repairs so to keep warranty valid I had to service 6/10 ( after thinking about what they said this made sense to me) how can a manufacturer set a service schedule for another warranty company that the manufacturer has no liability on.
Previously in my working days I had a BMW so I know what you mean about the on board service indicator.
ANT12 raises a good point they wont pay for a claim if you don't service at the stated intervals, so why not just service at 6 /10 and stay covered, if averyone elsess warranty is the same as mine they give a 1 month 2,000 kms allowance on top of the 6/10.
As a suggestion why don't you ring the warranty and see what it is you actually need to get done at 6 /10 to stay covered.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much everyone, I appreciate your responses.

I noticed on other posts, AWN have made what looks to be official responses to people. I thought I may receive one from them regarding my question. Maybe it's only negative feedback they reply to and not questions?

I'll just call and clarify exactly why I've been given this type of warranty if it doesn't fit most BMW Service needs...

You call your local BMW dealer and say "Can you please service my car?" and they say "Yes, what's the iDrive system saying needs servicing?" when you respond with "Nothing" they say - "Well we don't need to service it then"

I just find it hard to comprehend a company would offer warranties that require what i've outlined in my question.

Why would the company go to all the effort of sorting every car into certain categories i.e Cat B is for more luxury cars or high end (expensive to maintain) vehicles like me BMW for example. Why even waste your time doing that if you ask the complete opposite of what the manufacturing company is asking the owners to do. I remember asking my local BMW dealer once if they could just check my vehicle over ask i'm taking it on a long trip and want everything perfect. They said exactly this - "We don't Service your vehicle unless it tells us it needs it."

Surely someone within the AWN company must have a lightbulb moment where they think "Oh yeah... Our, "YOUR OBLIGATION" section doesn't fit every vehicle and maybe we should re-look at it?"

SILLY!!

Thanks everyone!

Hi All
I am about to buy a 2009 VW Gold TS (MY10), apparently the upgraded model of 2009. the car has done close to 300 000 Kilometers. The dealer is Geelong Road Motors. They are asking $12,000 for it. The only reason I am buying this car is they have included 5 years AWN Warranty.

Should I walk away from this car if the warranty is so rubbish?

The car seems too expensive for that many miles. I would keep looking. and ANW is not worth the paper it is written on.

Hi Ali

I received nothing but great service from AWN, like my post said I was really thankful that they paid the claim against my car after a relative short period from purchase to needing repairs, there is a lot of various negative posts on this website, which I do not understand and suspect some of the members are only informing of parts of their story, again all I can speak of is my own experience, another family member recently had to buy a used car the dealer did not sell AWN warranty, they do now, as we would have bought the car from another dealer that could provide the AWN warranty, thank fully no problems yet on the new vehicle and my car is running well, always a high risk buying a 300,000 kms vehicle, PS I noticed another member has posted a reply, if they do not know the correct name of the company can you put much thought into their response ? not to my way of thinking, sound like sour grapes to me!!

Stay away from QWN as the policy is their own that requires a full service every 6 months which is very costly. Say a full service costs $700 twice a year x 5 years = $7,000. AND then AWN would most likely deny coverage of whatever went wrong as many manufacturer items are not covered by them. They are geared up to extract cash from you under the guises of an extended manufacturers warranty, its not.

Australian Warranty Network do not sell product direct to the public or deduct payments from customers. AWN products are sold through selling agents, check your warranty contract to confirm who is listed as the "Selling Agent Details". The selling agents contact phone number would also be listed. Australian Warranty Network's contact number is 07 38025577, you can alway call them direct to see if they can assist you.

Hide your number when you call as I had a really hard time getting them to answer to. Ring your bank stop payments even ask for new card as they can't take more money. It's a real big scam an really hard to through but I've done what I told you,

AWN or Warranty Made Easy are a bunch of crooks, I certainly learn the hard way. I suggest you seek legal advice from you state Fair Trade or Consumer protection Agency, these people do not deserve to be trusted, the way they structure their so call policy is to screw consumers (victims) without a shred of trustworthiness. If they are legal then they are probably the biggest legal scam that is allowed to operate legally.
