Sadly a good credit union now an awful bank

published

I've been with VCTU for a number of years now, and until recently have been happy, but the change to a bank has seen customer service levels disappear. They can't even address me correctly by my first name now, so much for the change to a bank being an improvement - their just a poorly performing bank now, with substandard products. You get better rates at CBA and Westpac, so with the drop in customer service, why would you bother staying with them.
As a credit union they were good
And then they ruined it by becoming a bunch of "bankers"

Love this service

- Member since (VTCU) 2008
- recommend highly
- best interest rates (better than major four)
- better even saving rates
- I now have more money in my pocket (since moving from Westpac)
- They can be short staffed but I get the savings and accept it.
- They pass on more of what RBA gives you than any bank.
better than banks - more in my pocket
they seem to be short staffed but I get the savings.

Good

Helpful and personal credit union which offers great value and great range of services. am very happy to be a member of this credit union instead of the big banks who only want to make money for shareholders. Great travel service which caters esp to teachers.
small and personalised service in a range of areas- loans, transaction and savings accounts, insurance, travel service catering for people in education- school holiday dated trips. Can get lots of transactions for free on savings accounts. Get money out at CBA ATMs.
home loans rates are little higher than would like but they have had some good specials.

Excellent

We left one of the big four banks because of the lack of personal service. Victorian Teachers Credit Union has been everything we were looking for - personal, friendly and very service oriented with a great range of products.
We have been with them for a year now and we love it. They have excellent customer service and the small size means they really know who you are. They also have a very user friendly website for online banking.
There isn't any kind of 'professional package' available but that has not really bothered us as the home loan and credit card interest rates are still competitive.

Brilliant Service and Products

From day one they have been a delight to deal with. Every time my wife or I go into one of the branches we are seen promptly and discreetly. We are treated excellently by all of the staff, from those on the phone to the people behind the counters. I have got quotes of them for home and car insurance that I simply can't match anywhere. You feel they are really treating you like a customer not just an account holder and that if you've got no money in the bank (as i did as a uni student) or you are much better off that you are as equally important.
The service we get from the credit union is second to none. We have our home loan, credit cards savings accounts and we organise all our insurances (car, home & health) with them

Why be with the banks?
