Ecostar TH4

Braemar.... Spend the extra 200 bucks and get a brivis. It will end up saving you 300 a year. Every year since new it broke down, conveniently over winter. We had a buffalo in our old home and that unit is now nearly 20 years old and it's still going.

Have a TH4 was getting a intermittent 07 fault code on T'stat, replaced ignition rods and seemed OK for a while. Now the 07 flame fall code is appearing again and requires resetting more often than is normal. Checked out the ignition module in fault mode and have no fault indicators flashing. what could it be gas or electric problem. P.C board seems to be working OK .

Hi i Have a Breamar ecostar th4 heater and now when i turn it on the inducer gets up to full speed and the heater shuts off with an error code 11 on the the spectrolink controller inside the house. i reset it from the controller then it does the same thing again but gives an error code of 1 . i have replace one of the pressure switches but that did not help. i can get the heater going by switching off then disconnecting the purple wire to pressure switch > turn the power back on > wait till the inducer motor gets to full speed and i put the purple wire back on the pressure switch and the heater ignites and runs as normal. i replaced board a few years ago with a repaired board. not sure what change next

I have had no end of trouble with Breamar and good luck with dealing with Seeley as the person I talked too wasn’t very helpful so had to go to the Ombudsman so the next time it goes I will replace it with an other brand

Thanks for the reply but I managed to sort out the issue. The Fenwal ignition module was the problem. I replaced it and the heater is working properly now.

My TH4 sometimes brings up the flame logo on the wall controller, fan logo then stops everything . Ex-sparkie here by the way . Outside and Took off heater lid, combustion fan is turning very slowly . two led's on pcb on, the one marked gas is not . The combustion fan coil windings are light brown but no burnt smell. This happened last winter called service Co, 1 hour before he arrived everything was perfect, cancelled service call back then .Need advice this year please.

TH4 Nothing but grief and it's still is a problem and I've been told by experts it could be due to the provider failing to fix instalation problems, that were not rectified
for 6 months after instalation. These mistakes are likly too have damaged the Bramear Heating .
I paid Cold Flow $10,400 for supply and fittin of ducted heating and evaporated cooling and had I no heating at all when I moved in for six months, evapotated cooling never missed a beat.
Dec 2016 heater repaired 2022 No heating 2023 intermittent heating issues
2016 Cold Flow cancelled repairs time and time again
claiming they were waiting on parts. Without heating I recieved huge electricity and gas bill, so shocking that AGL sent an inspector out the following day to check my premises, their were no l
issues. I provided the AGL inspection reports to Cold Flow who made apointments and broke them for 6 months.I had no heating the entire winter,& I suffer from asmtha and was sick.I begged for assistanc, Cold Flow Servise Manageress lacked empathy even when I was in tears and she said to wait. I had waited 8 weeks already without any heating in a new house !. In Dec my concerned brother spoke to the service manageress, her attitude was rude & carless& didmissife .He followed that call up with a conversation with Cold Flow Managment.
My brother, a Managing Director himself spoke to the Sales Manager who arranged a meeting at my house for the following week Cold Flow sales manager, Daravin Gas, my brother and himself meet at my house. The repairer quickly accessed my heater and diagnosed a multiple of instalation errors..
The Darabbin gas Tech fixed what he could within apx an hour.
1/zones were not as per heating cooling plan, provided and incorrect placement of vents which could not be altrered without patching the ceilings.
2/Heat duct not attached in living area, were cut
short and secured with duct tape was no longer attached [That explained my bills) 3/ The monster mistake ! A hose designed to drain condensation outside to the gutter was draining water back into the heatering unit system.. The Daraben gas guy fixed what he could and the heating was working in apx an hour.
Cold Flow manager made no apologises for their instalastion nor did he offer any compensation or for the pain and suffering or expenses I had acured.
My heater is great when it works, quiet warm and very economical, but unreliable 2022. Not heating, Rang Cold Flow would not provide technical repairs under the 6 year warranty. I was told my warranty had expired a few weeks before my call.
I argued then argued my heater was used for only 5 years of a six year warranty. Flat out no claim.
I called ia Bramear repairer, he couldn't identify the isue but said this model heater is usually good but in his opinoin the unit was most likely water damaged from the faulty instal & beyond repair and he could not guarantee his work and wavered his call out fee ! He advised me my heater needed to be replaced not repaired . The next Bramear repairer was puzzled after two hours, also said he supect water damage and iincorect ducting issues . I could not afford to replace the heater never the long re plaster the ceilings.
Last minute, last ditch effort he changed the thermostat ! Wonderfull ! It worked perfectly for rest of the winter but only last year.
2023 it turns off with out warning, somtimes it starts again and somtimes it needs too be cold to start & the zones no longer work at all. I will never know if it was a good or bad heater due the instalation of my ducted heating. I it had been installed per Bramear Instalation insructions would it have been better ? Probably ! Both repairs think so. but they disliked the Specto Link controler.
My advice, be very carefull to do your reseach on the heater and also, check Supplier reviews. If you buy a
faulty product don't be intimidated, dont wait months see a solicitor, talk to Fair Trading, lodge a complaint at VCAT asap I have had two calls from Cold Flow regarding my review.theres not been an offer to fix or replace the heater and I have no intention to remove my review of my very horrible experience.
I hope this is advice is helpfull and you are fore warned, warm and are happy with your provider and the heater you purchased.

Hi Peter
Please get in touch with your nearest Braemar technician which you can find here https://www.seeleyinternational.com/find-a-service-agent/ or you can call 1300 650 644 to book in a service.
It's best to contact a Braemar approved repairer because they have more knowledge of the Braemar systems, have better access to parts and can perform warranty repairs.
If your system is less than 7 years old it may still be under warranty. However, just be aware our warranty has conditions for the system to be covered. I'm happy to provide this information if you need it.
All the best with getting your gas heater up and running!
Kind Regards
Rebecca

I've had that flame and no heat ! I did a reset of spectrolink controler. Take it off wall, un plugged the spectrolink controller. Wait for 5 min then followed the spectro link manual on how to reset..
Did u test the thermostate ? It a $26.00 part and can cause the heater to start then suddenly stop. Lyn

Come on Peter, there’s no such beast as an ex sparky, just retired Like me. My TH ducted heater started playing up with startup and then lockout with error code 7 .Next time ok but then we were having to reset the controller every startup. What to do ? First removed and. cleaned the sensor at the the right hand side of the gas train replaced and tried to start, d—m still the same . Long story short purchased a sensor and spark assembly from eBay for about$80 for both (pays to shop around)and replaced both
Warning!! The powers that be have made changes to the spark assembly, there are now 2 electrodes aca like a spark plug and it will not fit into the mounting bracket. A new type was provided with a “ half” hole . The 2 self tapping screws holding the old bracket refused to be removed not easy to get to and even with my trusty rattle gun just succeeded in ripping the Allen screw head to bits. Had to get my mini grinder in and grind the heads off ( 5 minute job turned out to be 30 mins!! And all this time the house was getting colder (Melbourne weather) anyway all good, fired up again and the air turned blue, just the same ran for a while but as the duct fan was powering up to 10 everything stopped and the dreaded 7 came up again. I then started to read the blogs on various sites . Discovered that the duct thermo couple should read 55 degrees when the hot air begins to flow mine was showing 44 when the up and down arrows where pressed together. I had purchased a new t/ c the one with the 6 mt. Lead from another store on eBay and and I Then forced my 76 year old body to do a bit of under floor crawling and removed the old and fit the new. They recommended a distance of 3 mts from the heater in the hot air duct but mine is 2. Heater came good and the duct temp is now 55c . Ps I also checked out the 2 pressure switches on the flue exhaust fan and they where ok . Both normally open and close on air pressure . I think it’s 55 and 100 could be wrong . And there’s my long story short. Good job I’m a sparky. It pays to know what the unit in the heater is looking for at each stage of start up before it moves on to the next stage.
