I have a Braemar TH420NG that is about 9 years old. About two years ago it started defaulting and showing a 07 fault code on the display panel. The unit would need to be reset once every 6 to 8 weeks. As time progressed the same code would appear and the unit was requiring to reset every day, then several times a day. Until recently the heartier was being reset through each heating cycle.

A neighbour who is a plumber replaced the gas sensor and igniter. The heather worked a dream for about 3 weeks. It then started defaulting with a 07 code (ignition failure). Then the electronic igniter was replaced. Again the heater worked a dream for 3 weeks.

I asked the question as to where we go from here. My neighbour suggested it could be either the PCB (prided circuit board) or the gas valve that could be faulty.

This is all costing money replacing bits and pieces.

Has anyone else had similar issues as mine. You assistance would be appreciated.

Did you get a response or answer on this? We are having the same issue, now $900 in repairs and getting no where and unit still not working.

most likley the pcboard ...if 7 years old get a new heater at$ 900 youve already spent half the cost of a new one
not worth fixing .fan could stop next year ..another $500. sometimes service guys dont know .they just change parts till it works at your expense

Board or gas valve, quick wiggle of the wires on either the gas valve or gas valve wires on the board will generally tell you which one has a bad connection. I’ve worked on many units where this has been the case and if ya service tech is throwing parts at it and it’s doing the same thing tell him to reinstall your old part and refund you, then try the next part. Intermittent ignition faults are a pain

And if your paying $900 and it didn’t fix it you’ve been ripped off

Turned mains power off to the unit over summer. Autum is here and it is not responding when turned back on.
I have had the lid off checked connections to control unit and 240v gpo has power. I have also checked control unit inside is still connected.
Can anyone help with ideas on what to check next?

I have a 7 year old Braemar TH420NG which is stopping with a -13 fault more and more until now it cant run more than 10 seconds without stopping.
Braemar suggested I replace flue fan for about $350 installed, but I doubt the heater is worth that much and am worried this might be the start of a series of problems.
Any recommendations on whether to repair or write it off?

fault code 13 p-100 failed to close L1 lockout1,User reset from SCC (press reset twice)or Manual t/stat off-on-off-on-wait 5 seconds at each state.or power off power on.check return air filter is clean and drain on main unit not blocked if the fan needed replacing it would not run at all these units probably should be serviced

By "Drain" are you referring to a unit with cooling? Ours only has heating. We have to reset, in the way you describe, every 90 seconds or so now. "Manual t/stat off-on-off-on" means put the unit in manual mode and then turn it on and off, correct?
I found that the unit stops with the -13 fault while the P-100 contacts are closed, they obviously come open immediately after the fault.
Does this mean the fan, pressure switch, and tubes between them are working properly? I cant find any loose wires but it seems that the heater faults when I bang on it.(not sure about this)
I disconnected and checked the terminal socket on the controller that the P-100 is connected through, terminals were clean and undamaged.
Braemar service dept said they have heard of controllers giving false faults and these need a replacement controller. another $200.
Would there be any of the other wires in the unit that I should check to solve this issue?
A duct was disconnected under the house when the -13 fault first happened. I reconnected the duct and the fault happened more and more often after that.
We appreciate you taking the time to respond,
Thanks for that.

the heater unit has a drain can be blocked by freezing i am sure these units were not designed for cold climates unless you modify the outside unit

Thanks Peter,
Braemar technician on the phone had no idea about a drain, But it turned out to be exactly the same prob that I had 2 years ago, a crack in the tube to the pressure switches where it connects to the flue fan, The heat makes its rubber brittle and it doesn't have any hose clamp. Perhaps I should put my own clamp. Hope this wont cause other problems though. Its not nice waking to a freezing house every two years. Cheers

Can anyone please tell me how to reset the unit? It will work for a while and then starts to flash reset and I have to turn off an on again

Most units you have to turn it off outside for 20 seconds to reset it. Give that a go. But from sounds of it it will most likely do it again due to having an error which braemars love!

We had to have new software and panel installed - in an almost brand new system. Error message then technician then would work for a while then error message. Finally they said problem with software and would provide upgrade. Working like a dream since.
