Customer Service is Bad
Had a to make a claim.
Every time I called up and transferred and been put on hold for more than 30 minutes in different occasions.
I won't recommend CGU.

Best service
I was half hour into a 2 hour drive, when a stone flicked up and cracked my windscreen, I called cgu on the way and explained what happened, this was a Wednesday, by Friday I had a new windscreen installed, no questions, no hassles!!! Best service ever!

Accused of committing fraud when THEY haven't paid in nearly a year
Customer service BEWARE. Something has changed in the CS team as I have two active claims which has resulted in two complaints. Both officers have used tone in voice that was either rude or accusatory. I feel like we need to record our conversations as previous notes are all "missin" - alleging that calls didn't take place and final straw was being told my claim was "suspicious". When the officer realised he made an error in his dates, he just "moved on".

Amazing Service
I had to get my cracked windscreen fixed. Made the claim on Thursday and by Saturday it was fixed. The staff were polite and friendly and best of all fast. No dramas.

Promise the world, don't deliver
A 4 car pile up on Thursday 1st Feb effectively writes off the hyundai i30 Claim lodged that day and person taking the claim asks about the damage. Tell them the tow truck driver said it would be a write off, so the consultant suggested that we commence the paperwork there and then so the claim can be put thru asap. And that's what we do...VIN no, bank account details...all provided. We look for a replacement car on the weekend and put a deposit on one. stolen car refual
would not recommend cgu car insurance as stolen car was retreived but insurance have refused claim but they take your preniums every month but wont honour if you are making a claim no enty point found,report to police 4 hours after car was found (there words not mine) which i dispute and i have only had insurance for a short amount of time certainly be looking for insurance with another company do not wastse your time or money its taken them 4 months to determine this claim and refused no correspondence from cgu during this time worst company i ever come across

PATHETIC BROTHALISED COMPANY TERRIBLE
They are my last choice in insurers and serves me right for even assuming they are capable of operating in Australia, ombudsman here I come to do what I can to protect others from this sour experience.

Unprofessional and disrespectful!
Upon my phone call dropping into an available agents dialler yesterday, I was not greeted by anyone. Instead, I could hear laughing and talking in the background. After waiting 8 minutes, understandably upset at this point, an agent finally put on their headset and introduced themselves as “[name removed]” from the Adelaide contact centre. Instead of proceeding with my enquiry with said agent I asked to speak with a manager. The agent said okay, went silent and deliberately disconnected the call. whom I asked to connect me with the manager straight away. I waited on hold for another 8 minutes to finally be greeted by a supervisor named “[name removed]” who was wonderful and assisted me with my enquiry by saving me almost $300 on my annual car insurance premium. Although happy with the outcome, I’m still not impressed with my initial interaction. Too many problems with policy
I've had to call regularly to organise payments as it keeps going to yearly payments rather than monthly, despite updating with correct information they keep going back to yearly payments and I have to do it all again. Got side-swiped by a truck last year and got no help from them, ended up fixing it myself. I'm only with them out of convenience (probably less of a headache to look elsewhere)

VERY POOR CLAIMS SERVICE
Incredibly poor service during and after claim. CGU did not follow up, I had to follow them up myself every day. They are now double dipping, by continuing to take my premiums from my account when they have already claimed the remainder of the premiums from the claim payout. I would NEVER use CGU again and would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

It was good value for their client because he has not had to pay for the damage to our car, even though he has given five different accounts of what happened (including falsely claiming he was insured with Bicycle Victoria) Caused his push bike to catapult along the side of our car because he slammed on his front brakes when he didn't see a garbage truck in the bike lane. Protecting dangerous road users who are a menace to the public.

Amazing Service
After my car accident in July 2017 I contacted CGU, from the first phone call right through to dealing with the repairer it was a totally stress free process, each person that I dealt with was extremely helpful and professional - thank you CGU!

Misleading information
Made a claim because third party was a nightmare. Were advised that CGU would look at damage to ensure there was nothing dodgy going on. Literally didn't even look at it and we were told to pay the panel beater fee of $885. So they just accept crap quotes from anyone. Well done CGU you're hopeless.

Terrible misleading organization
I made a claim 3 months ago it has taken between them and the mechanic to get back to me. Original I was just going to have to pay the excess of $600 to have my car fixed. I received a phone call from my mechanic a few days ago tell him the insurance company has decided to right my car off. Due to the amount of labour involved in fixing it. ay out off of cgu is $4200. Which the representative was insistent of me taking. He failed to mention that I would be stung an excess fee of $600 and the remaining insurance installments and the cost of the rego left. My car has just been fitted with new tyres which cost $520, it has a $200 and roof racks that retail at $300. On asking whether they will be taken into consideration the rep said no because they are maintenance items. So I asked if I could change them and he said I wasn't allowed. This shows a double standard that this company represents. After speaking with another representative who finally informed me of the fees that would be deducted from their petty offer, I spoke my mind of how cgu is a corrupt organization to which the representative agreed to. I'm not sure if it just slipped but it sounded convincing enough. Another highlight of cgu's performance is when I went to collect my belonging from my car which is still in limbo I was told by the mechanics that the cgu were sending someone out to collect my car. Even though we still haven't agreed on a price. Thanks for the heads up cgu. Not one phone call from you in this whole ordeal. Overall rating is extremely low.1 comment

Would not suggest cgu to my worst enemy. From my claim which should have been 6000 from the start of the claim, 5 months later it was 5100, im getting 3000 back. And on top they took there time with doing the claim, what should have been paid out within 2 weeks like i have been told, has taken 5 months and a continuing monthly payment of 200 that i dont get back. Unhelpful, unclear, i did all of the work in trying to find out what happened. Id rather cancer over going with cgu again

Fantastic with my claim. So many whingers. Happy clients dont give reviews which is really sad to see. Every single insurance has bad reviews. Coincidence, I think not. Cant gauge anything through the website

Do not go for this company bad experience...
I got Insurance from cgu for two year and i cancelled my policy before due date. They still sending me invoice after cancellation.
Staff behaviour is not cooperative. Please stay away.

CGU Worst Insurance Company ever!!!
CGU were so unhelpful, rude and obnoxious. I will never recommend them or use them again. Disgusting Customer Service. Just excuse and excuse. Incident wasn't my fault and made me feel guilty from the get go.

Hi there,
I understand that you're dealing with tens and thousands of claims due to unprecedented events recently. But I believe, there's no excuse when it comes to not resolving the problem on time. You guys have no patience when it comes to grabbing money from us. I pay over $2k for my AMG. I'm a disappointed customer just like thousands of others. I thought I was in the better hands due to the hefty premium I was paying. Now, I was wondering how long does it take to process a writeoff and replace my car with a new one with the current backlog? I need a genuine answer because I found a car to replace (same make, model & spec) and I'm happy to put a deposit until you sort out the payment for it. Please advise me correctly so I can work things out my way or else this won't get solved for months.
