What is the gel like stuff coming out of the hot water tank when it was flushed probably about 5ltrs
I can't rate this product low enough, the lowest I can make it is a 1, actually it is worse than terrible.
What is the gel like stuff and milky colored water coming out of the hot water tank when it was flushed, probably about 5 liters of solids.
I have never seen anything like this before come out of a hot water system storage tank.
Could it be a chemical reaction with the coating coming off on the inside of the tank.
Is this why the tanks only last long enough for the warranty period.
IS THIS SUBSTANCE TOXIC ????
I'm sorry if i am shouting ...Read more

Leak 1 year after warranty expired
Was not sure how well the poor reviews of this product reflected reality so decided to take a chance. Installed DUX Airoheat in May 2010. Shortly after, the electronic controller failed and was replaced under warranty. Since then it worked well continuously without any issues. But just a few days ago, warm water started leaking at a high rate from the top of the tank. Checked and confirmed the tank has sprung a leak. Looks like the 5 year warranty on the tank really means it is only designed to last no longer than 5 years. Definitely will not be buying DUX again.

Not happy
Moved into our new house end of 2010 with the all new Dux Aeroheat. Now we have a system that is failing, with a tonne of rust and soggy white bits coming out the system when it had been flushed. Spoke to Dux and they said, we stand by our 5 yr warranty. Guess what, im just out of warranty. Buyer be warned.

Disgusting - never buy Dux again
We bought dux airoheat in 2009 and have had no end of problems with the valves and now a rusty tank and rusty showers, baths and washing! How can a system last 6 years! This experience has already cost us thousands in plumbers and looks like costing thousands more buying a new system!

Piece of crap.
I will just say it had water leaks, and not reliable hot water. Now it's Has died. Of course it out of warranty now, it's disappointing that an Australian company can put out such a bad product. The DUX company should be shamed of them self.
WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP.

Another one bites the dust
Bought one in 2009. Within warranty period I had to have it replaced as it leaked. Was only replaced with a reconditioned one. Now it is leaking, and plumber says it is the tank, yet again. A lot of money for a poor quality tank. Oh well, here we go again.

Will do tonight, but I believe I only have paperwork for the original unit I bought, and not the replacement one.

Thanks Mark, The serial number will be on the side of the system near the top.

disappointed
We had a Dux aeroheat installed in 2009 which was dated 15.10 2008. Some days the unit did not heat up after owning it for 6 months. Contacted Dux whom sent out repair man whom replaced fan and electrical board. He then charged me 280 dollars saying I was not covered by warranty. Complained to Dux and finally got money back. Fan has stopped kicking on 5 months after replacing. Manually start fan after showers. After 6 years the tank is leaking. I rang plumbers shop who sold unit to my plumber only to find tank is only covered for 5 years. For new heat pump this disappointing. Not happy with this unit .

Ongoing problems....
Like many others we have a Dux Airoheat installed in 2009 which for it's price would expect it to last longer than it has. Over the past few years the cooling fins have been regularly icing up and stopping the fan from spinning, the only way that this can be fixed is to switch it off at the power board and wait for the sun to melt the ice. The water temperature has been increasing over time and is now scalding hot causing the pressure release valve to regularly open expelling the contents of the hot water cylinder down the drain. Not very happy with the purchase and will not be buying Dux or recommending them in the future.

Absolute junk -stay away
We had a Dux aeroheat installed in 2009. Like others, we decided on this unit due to the supposed cost savings associated with unit being energy efficient.
Quite simply, the unit is a piece of crap! It has been repaired about than 6 times since installation for thermostat issues (repaced 3 times), failure and replacement of hotlogic box (SUPER expensive) and other various issues. The most recent repair was done 5 days ago, only to discover the unit has packed it in AGAIN today!!
My advice is STAY AWAY from Dux - if you buy one of their produc...Read more

Nothing but problems
Everything started Ok, had it installed in 2009.
3 years later the heat logic controller broke. After I contacted Dux they told me it wasnt covered by warranty and referred me to a repairer. $400 later the hot logic unit was replaced(he said it was a common problem and he did heaps of the same replacements on these units). 1 year after the release valve needed replacing, a year after that the thermostat board needed replacing. Now I have water gushing out of the bottom of the hot water unit so it seems it is now finally dead!

Ongoing problems
My unit is now 7 years old and still causing me problems. Dux has serviced the anode previously under warranty when I reported a water leak. My problem now (out of warranty of course) is the fan has stopped working but the compressor keeps running. I have phoned and emailed Dux several times and keep being referred to their service agent for my area who only has a mobile phone number for contacting (no business phone or address). I have left several messages with the agent, as it always goes to message bank, he never answers, but never get a ca...Read more
ll back. Probable because he has to travel 45 km's each way to me (at my cost). This is extremely poor for Dux. I have reported this to Dux several times but now I don't even get a call back from them. I have tried to locate Dux spare parts online without success. Looks like I will be replacing the unit with another brand.1 comment

Finally fully died this time after about 5-6 years
We bought a dux 5 1\2 yrs ago. It was installed may 2010 I think and cost about 3500 after the rebates.
It replaced a working but ageing system so I could maybe save money on power. We had initial problems with the pressure regulator stopping the flow and the water not getting hot enough so we had weeks of cool showers. Plumber looked at it and changed some bits. A year later it stopped again. The fan had burnt out so the plumber replaced the fan on top which cost a couple of hundred. A year after that it stopped again and I called the plumber...Read more

d a history of repair. Upon inspection it was realised that the fan was broken, the AC coolant pump was not working because the electronic temp control box inside was not functioning properly, the anode was too corroded replace and the tank had actually split and was leaking due to rusting out. The plumber Dux sent pointed out that although my tank had problems, it was uncommon compared to the number they sold. Dux were then very good at helping me out and since they were unable to repair my system for free parts, actually replaced the whole water system for free for only the cost of the plumber. The new model of the tank I have looks much more robust and quality than the old one and Dux have really been exceptional in there service, even 6mths past the warranty period. Thank you to dux for looking after me and this new system looks great and works better than the old model ever did. I really can't speak highly enough about how dux handled this. I know a few other people who had similar issues with rheems and they never got this service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Another DUX Airoheat rusted out after 6 years
Purchased a DUX Airoheat 250L unit in Dec 2009 for $3500.
Noticed a brown rusty water stain a few weeks back at bottom of the tank and had a plumber look at it today.
To my shock and disbelief he said he thinks the tank has rusted out.
I expected we would get at least 10 yrs of use from this unit for such a big outlay.
Although the warranty has expired by just over 1 year, this seems to fail the ACL test of reasonable expectation of product life-span

Only 5 years and we have cold water and a rusty unit!
We bought our house in 2010 with a brand new Airoheat unit that had been installed in 2009. After months of the hot water never being consistent & being stuck with about 10 minutes of hot water each day & having to deal with the retailer coming and checking on it, the unit was replaced under warranty. Now after just 5 years of work the new unit has been playing up. We have no hot water and the cold water that comes out is orange with rust!! If you turn on the relief valves there is an orange rusty gunk that flies out. I've been told by the reta...Read more
iler that they will probably need to replace rusty parts in the unit but that they've heard the model isn't worth the repairs!! Now I find myself reading multiple reviews of the same unit as mine needing to be totally replaced just after the warranty period. It's clear that there is a problem with this model and repairs will only continue to limp it down the road. I should have looked into it a bit closer when the first unit failed. Not very happy.1 comment

Very dissapointed with Dux Heatpump and service!!
We purchased our heat pump just over 5 years ago (May 2010), and as soon as it was out of warranty it started to run rusty water through the taps, and now it is leaking so badly it can't be used. The company who installed it, said that it needs replacing, and sorry it is just out of warranty. After reading the reviews on this page, I thought Dux might have been genuinly interested in seeing what the problem was, so rather than writing a bad review I contacted them directly first. They were of no help, and also advised that it is out of warranty ...Read more
and there is nothing they will do. Their posts on this website are obviously just to look good - they are not interested in helping out at all. We can’t believe that the system would fail so early on in it’s life, however reading other reviews, we have noticed that this is a common complaint. We would NEVER reccommend a Dux Heatpump to anyone, and will ensure everyone knows how bad the system, and service has been. I work in real estate - and will not be putting any DUX Heatpumps on any of our properties!!!!!!! Very very very dissapointed........................... Our previous system had lasted 38 years!!!!!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Definitely a DUD. Just over 4 years old
Like many others, we took advantage of the rebate being offered for HWS installations through our electricity company and had a Dux Airoheat Heat Pump installed in November 2011. Everything was working great until August 2014 when we noticed a decrease in hot water pressure, along with scalding hot water coming out of the overflow drain 3-4 times a day for about 10-15 minutes each time. We had a plumber come out and inspect our HWS and was advised that the tempering valve needed replacing. He did this and the problem was fixed. Between then and...Read more
now we have noticed a slight increase in rust stains that run from top to bottom of the outside of our system, which we have thought not too much about, considering that our system was still running ok...or so we thought. About a week ago we lost hot water again and basing on our previous experience with the tempering valve, we had it replaced. Which lasted all of 1 day. We again lost hot water. We have now noticed that the Hot Logic Box doesn't appear to be working properly. Each time it initialises 2 lights are start blinking - 1 red and 1 green - both at the same time and don't stop blinking. Each time we have had a plumber come out they take off the tempering valve and there is a orangey-brown type goo that is clogging it. Once this has been cleaned the valve in put back on and we have hot water again for a few hours, depending on the usage. After yet another visit from another plumber yesterday at the cost of $750 and all possible valves replaced we had water for a few hours. Woke up this morning to no hot water again and it's just ridiculous that this keeps happening. This should not be happening on a HWS that is less than 5 years old.Similar opinion? 6 years on a hot water system? I don't think so
Bought a Dux Airopump in 2009 as our house doesn't have gas and electric heat pumps were the best suggested option. Research suggested that it was also economical.
After 6 years (only 1 year past the warranty, which by consumer law I would not consider continuing to be of quality a reasonable time after the warranty period) the tank ruptured after turning the mains off and on after replacing a tap washer). Annoying poor customer service from Dux - got a "too bad so sad" attitude, which inspires me to both never consider a Dux product again, but to inform my networks. Poor customer service, crappy product- avoid like the plague.

A bit over 5 years and now needs replacing
My unit is just out of warranty and has been deemed by my plumber as needing replacing. We had it serviced to replace the tempering valve about 3 months ago and the plumber simply could not remove the anode. This week we had NO hot water through any of our taps. A plumber opened the unit and found that bits of corroded anode had blocked valves. He managed to remove the anode (after 3 hours at my cost) He informed us that the thread on the inlet and outlet were partially eaten away and very corroded. We were advised that we should replace the unit as soon as we can afford it. This is simply not good enough after only 5 years. We are pensioners trying to do the right thing and now have to fork out another $2000 to have hot water.

Terrible
Moved into my new home in 2009 with this Dux heat pump. After moving in i was without hot water multiple times. Yes it was fixed under warranty multiple times, the whole inside was replaced, condenser included. It worked for a while & had to have more parts replaced. It has never been very efficient. Now it keeps running all the time & my backyard is flooded with hot water. Not good. Definitely not cost effective with high electricity costs & we have water restrictions at the moment & its wasting water. Not a good investment.
