I was told my dc54 multi floor has a spatula that comes attached to the barrell to clean out the barrell. Mine does not have one. Should it have one and we didn't get it?????

I didnt get one either funnily enough and have been using a spatula thingy that I got with my little robot vac....call dyson on their 1800 number and they will send you one, I am going to do just that myself :)

thanks valerieFrancis, I did call Dyson and they confirmed that they have removed the spatula from all their Dysons because people were waiting until the barrel was full instead of half empty hence burning out the motor. They did mail a spatula to me at no cost

I have been on the phone 3 times and I received help to troubleshooting the machine. It was blocked. Yet after being unblocked and getting a new headbrush the suction is not good with this attachment on. Much better without it. Any other troubleshooting you can advise? I am not happy with this machine.

Hi Maria, unfortunately I do not know of a solution for your vacuum cleaner. The one I am using is pretty disappointing too and I have reverted to using the much older upright vac to clean the carpet.

As I said previously I have wasted far too much time in this matter. I just sent you a detailed email. I want Dyson to replace my machine with another model. Under the Australian law I am entitled to. I prefer not to contact the Fair Trading or other institutions. The customers review on this model is poor. Thank you

With the suction OFF, grasp the attachment in one hand and with the other hand, depress the release button - should come apart easily.

Hi Nic,

Thanks for reaching out.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble removing attachments, some parts can become friction fit after use due to the suction power. We recommend to press the release button down with the thumb of one hand whilst holding the wand, and firmly wiggle the attachment away with your free hand. If we can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to email us back or call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

DC54 Multi Floor

Hi! I have been told by a stockist of Dyson that the DC54 multifloor head, will scratch timber floors and that the 'multifloor' function is for carpet and tiles, although this isn't stated anywhere. Can you please confirm this?

Unfortunately I don't have timber floors so I couldn't tell you if it would scratch. I use it on tiles and carpet. One of the attachments it comes with has a brush but you would probably be there all day as it is small. There is a special head you can buy for Dysons from Harvey Norman ect.. for timber floors.

John.T

Don't know I do not have timber floors. However, my experience of the DC54 is not good in terms of the low capacity of the dust container and the emptying of same. I wouldn't buy one again.

The Dyson DC54 multifloor head definitely scratches timber floors. Mine are now ruined and we will have to get them re-polished. More than half of our 5 bedroom house has timber floors.Thank you Dyson. This just adds to the joy of emptying it. SO pleasant to be covered in the dust you have vacuumed from your floor!!

Bought the dc54 ten months ago, the suction has reduced to 2/3s of the power, it used to lift the carpet up almost 2 inches off the floor, now wont lift it 1/2 a inch. I always clean it out after use, is there anyway to give it a thorough clean out and get it back to full suction?

I have an old school bag less Dyson, when ours loses suction we use an air compressor to blow out the clogged up dust. Good as new
Some people use the air from the survo to clean theirs if they don't have a compressor

I was having the same problem with mine and was ready to call dyson to see if they could help. I had a blockage in the head. I took the brush out and cleaned the opening of the head out and it's like brand new. It is quiet a small opening so I think this is going to be an ongoing problem but atleast I know how to fix it now :)

How do you release the barrel to clean?

2 answers
Aaron
Aaron

There is a light grey round button on the top of the unit. This will release the barrel with the cyclone section on top.
There is a red button that will release the bottom lid to empty the contents.
On the side of the barrel directly underneath the red button is a grey button this will allow the clear section come away from the cyclone section.
I was told by the Dyson rep that never try clean the cyclone section, just "gently" tap the head with your hand.
I hope this makes sense, the instructions that come with the Dyson are useless.

Hi Bonaddio,

Thank you for your question.

To release the bin from the Cyclone, open the bin like you were going to empty it normally, then press the silver button between the two red rods and you’ll be able to remove the clear bin from the Cyclone.

My Dyson D54 is only 2 months old and is really giving us trouble. When we vacumn the carpet-which is quite thick-our Dyson is leaving a fine trail of dirt where we push and move to another spot. The suction doesn't seem to be very effective. We are using the right head for the vacumn, we have emptied and cleaned around the barrel. What could be the problem if there are no filters, the barrel is clean. Could it be blowing dust out? Please help, we paid a lot of money we could ill afford for this machine

I am sorry - I cannot answer that question. I own a Dyson D54 and love it. It works brilliantly and has not caused us a moment of trouble. It's the very best vac I have ever used. I suggest you contact Dyson directly or return to the retailer from where you purchased it and ask them.

Mine does the exact same thing. I've stopped using it. Huge waste of money. I did the same thing as you. I emptied the barrel and the pipe thing but it hasn't made any difference. The Dyson people couldn't care less!!

I paid a lot of money for this vacuum cleaner also. I think it is nothing more than an expensive broom. How Dyson can say they have the best technology is beyond me.
Wouldn't it be interesting if all the people that have this DC54 show up at Dyson Head office and let them know how disappointed we are in their product.
I have dealt with their head office and they basically don't care about the average person. Shame on Dyson for selling such a useless product.

Hi Chris,

We wouldn't recommend to wash the cyclone pack, however you can wash the clear bin with cold water (no detergents) once the cyclone is removed.

To remove the cyclone, open the bin like you were going to empty it normally, then press the silver button between the two red rods and you’ll be able to remove the clear bin from the cyclone.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I just bought the Dyson dc54 multi floor and was wanting to clean the filter,as I couldn't find the filter I removed the cyclonic head from the plastic canister and gave it a good rinse removing lots of dirt, how long do I need to let this dry before I can put it back together and start using it again? Hi Pat,

Thank you for your question. The DC54 Multi Floor does not come with a filter you need to wash. The plastic bin can be washed in cold water and it must be completely dry before reattaching to the machine. If you need any other assistance with using this machine please go to http://www.dyson.com.au/supportv4/dc54/dc54-multifloor or email us at [email protected].
