Why doesn't it work properly? We have had one for 6 months now and at first it was great but, even after totally cleaning out, it just doesn't pick fluff and dust up. Very disappointed, will never buy this brand again.

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the motorhead of your cordless machine. We recommend to follow these checkpoints:

1. Clean the brushbar as shown in this video here: https://youtu.be/fdnu4yk-5vI?t=25s

2. Separate the clear bin from the main body of the machine as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWG-AgswpQo Once the clear bin is separated, clean the metal contacts behind the clear bin and on the main body with a dry cloth. Assemble the machine and test if the motorhead will spin.

3. If the motorhead still does not spin after following steps 1 and 2, please remove the long wand and test if the motorhead will work when connected straight on the nozzle of the clear bin.

If the motorhead still does not work after following above steps please forward your details to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch shortly to help get this sorted.

Hi, I have the dyson V6 slim origin model and was using it on my carpets in the house. We have removed all carpets now and have hardwood floors. I wanted to know if I can use it on the hardwood floors or do I need to get a special head? It does seem to scratch the floors

Dyson Team ..Dyson

While the head included with your V6 Slim is the only floor tool available for your machine at this time, we certainly wouldn't expect any damage to occur as a result of using it.

Please email your details through to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch shortly and happy to help.

V6 Slim

Is the bin empty. Same or similar to the V8 Absolute?

2 answers
Gordon L.
Gordon L.

No, they’re different. The V6 has a “push down” to release thing whereas the V8 has a “pull up” to open the hatch. You may need to jiggle the V6 if the bin is particular full (the V8 mechanism works better in this regard), but the “push down” release feels a lot sturdier than the newer “pull up” one.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

The bin emptying mechanism is different on the V6 and the V8. The V7 machines feature our new bin emptying mechanism which hygienically drives out dust and debris.

You can see how to empty the V6 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWG-AgswpQo and the V8 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXJppqsD6cQ

Hey I bought a Dyson slim in 2017 and we have a border collie dog, unfortunately the head on this model isn't great with the pet hair and cloggs up everywhere. Making it impossible to use around the house. Will the head on the animal work on my motor or will I have to replace my Dyson? Somehow regretting getting the slim should have gone with a animal instead.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your query.

Sorry to hear about this. A surging or pulsing noise indicates a blockage or restriction of airflow through the machine, or it may be time to wash the filter

We would recommend to run through the checks outlined on https://youtu.be/ubbGu1Man8k & https://youtu.be/jIBuj-sAd4c.

Should you find the issue persists please forward your details to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be more than happy to help get this sorted for you.

How often do I need to replace the filter in my Dyson SV03 Animal? have washed it every month. thanks

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thank you for your query.

Under normal use, the filter in your Dyson V6 Animal doesn't need to be replaced, just washed as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzhCAfkRNDc. Please note, some models don't have the post motor filter at the back of the machine. If your machine isn't fitted with one, please disregard.

I hope this helps, however if you have any further queries, please feel free to get directly in touch with our Dyson Experts via [email protected]

Hi Audrey,

Thank you for your question.

If the machine was in Max power mode when it ran out of battery, an amber light may show while it is charging. This is normal and the light will go off before the end of the charge. Please leave the machine for 3.5 hours to recharge fully.

If that does not resolve the issue, please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description of the issue and we will be happy to help.

Hi there
I just unpacked my v6 slim. Do I need to charge it before using it?
Thanks

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Jess,

Thanks for your question.

When first unpacked, the battery will have approximately 20% charge, and will be preset to the Maximum suction mode which has the shorter run time for quick clean ups. While you can use it straight out of the box, we would recommend giving it a full charge first.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thank you for your question and we are sorry to hear this has happened.

From the description provided you may need a replacement charger for your machine. If you can please email your contact details and the serial number of the machine through to [email protected] one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible to assist.

You can find the serial number for your machine on the guarantee form which is on the back page of your User Guide. However, you can also find it on the machine. To locate, push the red release catch and the base of the bin releases. Push it again and you can pull the complete clear bin off the machine. You will find the serial number sticker on the opposite side of the red lever on the machine.

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for your question. This machine will make a pulsating noise when there is any obstruction of airflow to the motor, and the obstruction may be in a less than obvious location. Please start by checking your machine as demonstrated here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCUY4crvKK8

If that does not resolve the issue, please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description of the issue and we will be happy to help.

That doesn’t sound right. I’d call Dyson and see what they have to say. Maybe the battery is failing. If it’s a battery issue and it’s not too old it might be under warranty....

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for your query.

Your Dyson V6 has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge.

It is recommended you leave the machine on charge when not in use, this will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session. The electronics in the machine will ensure the battery charges to 100%, but not over.
