We bought this cleaner in July 2016. It wasn't doing a good job any longer by end of last year. Now it stops not long after it starts. We were guaranteed that this was a great cleaner for pets when we bought it in Canberra-Good Guys in Belconnen as highly recommended by an Electrolux salesman.

Really disappointed.

Can we have a replacement please?

Is one of the wheels in the head jammed?

To me this head is the best, but you have to change the way you pull it back. There shouldn't be any problem while pushing, that's to my experience.
While pulling it back, raise handle a few inches higher and you'll be good.

How often do you clean & replace filter?

As I have only had the cleaner for six weeks as yet I have not had to replace the filter. I have checked it twice and as yet it is looking fine. I purchased the replacement filters at time of purchase of cleaner and they were $40 I think for the box, I know you can wash one of them, so that is a good thing. Sorry cannot help you guess it depends on frequency of use and condition of carpet. Since my review I have found that I do find the cleaner a bit cumbersome as the power head is heavy but as i said in my review it does clean. I am also pleased that I have not had any problems with cleaning the brush, i thought the hair would wrap around the brushes but have not found this to be a problem, also I don't think this is a vacumn for a older person as it does require a bit of effort to push thru heavy carpet, even with the height adjustment on the highest level. Hope this helps :)33

I'm looking for a vacuum on the quieter side. I can't find any information on the sound level this vacuum produces - anyone able to advise?

We have just bought one of these and it is very quiet, no matter what level of suction (it goes up to 5 levels).

This one is definitely a quiet bagless vac.
But get an Electrolux Ultrasilencer Green if you are looking for a truly quiet vac.

Is there a reason the vacuum cuts out when being used a lot? Vacuumed the car and it just stopped. Cleaned all filters and then push the on switch, numbers go up but the vacuum does not come on.

Other than what has already been pointed out in other replies in regard to cleaning the three filters and washing them to ensure they are clean I cant help you. The fact that it cuts out when used a lot suggests a cooling air restriction . I know when I cleaned my filters the small square sponge one took a fair bit of rinsing and squeezing under a tap to get the water running through it to come out clean . Have you tried running the unit without actually vacuuming with it with the filters out to see if it runs o.k or dislodges any little beads or stones that you may have picked up and jammed the fan? If that don't help then it sounds like it may be a job for ........"ELECTROMAN".

Ultraflex Classic (ZUF4202EU)

Purchased the cleaner brand new, I have used the electrolux ultra flex classic now five times with an overheating problem turning the machine off twice within the five times, checked filters all are free from dirt. I have checked the manual and cleaned all filters specified.

Please advise!

Does it have 3 filters plus the dust catcher? The back one was the one I had missed and had to clean to get it to stop overheating. But mine was 8 months old so it doesn't sound like a filter problem if you have only used it 5 times. Check all the hoses, even the little hoses on the side, they should just pop right out and pop back in. Overheating suggests a blockage somewhere, stopping the airflow needed to keep it cool. Perhaps take out your filters and wash them anyway, to rule them out, and make sure they are correctly put back in the right way. ( my salesperson showed me the wrong way)
If it still cuts out after filter clean and hose check ( which is what any Electrolux service place will tell you to check anyway) call an Electrolux repairer and see what they advise. Or even call Godfrey's service department, they may have a suggestion for you. Good luck :)

My old Electrolux ultra active model has had a few problems had to replace the circuit board twice from error code E3 and had error code E2 pop up recently saying there is something wrong with the hose.
I like the brand because it picks up so much stuff that other vacuums can't but I'm hesitant to buy one as I don't want to have the same problems again.

Also how recently do you have to change the filters in this model of vacuum?

The filters on my model are all washable and can be reused. They collect dust only, so how often you clean them depends on how much dust is around your house! BUT more importantly, how often you overfill the main collector box. This applies all bagless cleaners, ( happens on my old Samsung and my Dyson) As soon as you accidently overfill past that 'red' full line, the cyclonic action no longer separates the dust out and it all goes into the filters !!!
If you can't easily clean the filters, then the suction power is lost......you have to buy new filters or a new machine.

The motor relies on air flow to keep it cool, if the EP filter is blocked then the motor and other components run hot and eventually fail. My advise to anyone buying any brand of bagless vacuum cleaner, get the salesman to show you how to get all the filters out, and show you where it says 'washable'. If he does not know, go to another store!

Thanks Peter I will try this mine doesn't have a red line for overfill so that may be my issue

Ultraflex Animal Allergy Pro (ZUF4205AF)

Hi,

I've had this vacuum cleaner for 5 months and I used to love it. In the last 2 months I've noticed that the suction power has weakened a lot - I used to get a really good clean just by using level 3 and now I use level 5 all the time and it only does an okay job.

I've tried cleaning the filters, both top and back, but that didn't really help.

Do you think there's potentially something wrong with the vacuum cleaner or is this normal after just a few months?

Thanks.

Certainly not "normal" could be something simple like something stuck in a hose. There are three filters (you only mention two) that need cleaning. The top cylindrical filter that you can see through the clear plastic, the one behind the canister (you have to remove the filter frame) and the one at the back. Also remove the side inlet and outlet tubes and check if anything is stuck.

William
William

Well when you said you've cleaned the top and back filters, I think you've missed the one up front.
To access front filter, you need to remove dust canister, and pull out the whole filter holder which is translucent, then you'll see the front filter.

Hey. Does the filter needs to be replaced or is it lifetime? Where to find filter replacement part?

Yes the filter does need to be replaced, you have to check it from time to time, but Ive had my unit nearly 2 years and I maintain it so it lasts much longer. Filter replacements are available at all the Harvey Norman stores or Good Guys.

Peter Curtis
Peter Curtis

I apologise for the delay in replying. My understanding is that the filter can be cleaned, but should last much longer if the receiving canister is not allowed to be filled above the maximum level marked on the side. I was also informed that the filter can be washed, but I take that on board with caution. As noted by Angie Wilkins (above), Harvey Norman has the filters. I bought a spare, with the machine. I was using it again today, and it is a great unit. Emptying the canister is not a big deal at all, much better than using a bag, believe you me!
