Monopoly on power options for our region
I've wanted to change power companies for many years because of all the type of issues this feedback blog highlights but have no other option because there isn't one... Well done Ergon you can remain unsympathetic to all the complaints you receive and don't have to worry about improving your customer service, general service or overpriced tariffs' because you have a Monopoly in my area...

Constant blackouts
4 days of rain, 4 black outs, I live in glenwood,unfortunately every day it rains we get blackouts, amazing how electricity is so expensive, yet our lines are like we live in a third world country, pathetic, and yes it's a government owned company, so if you are thinking of moving out this way, prepare yourself for blackout after blackout after blackout,as ergon is the only company that does power, there is no choice...

Cost too much
Closed my account account beginning of the year. Finalized all owing monies and was going about normal day to day to get a text message saying my account is overdue. I call them up 15 minutes of trying to get past the automative thing to then waiting another 30 minutes to talk to a human. Then trying to argue with the lady that i paid all owing monies. Then having to wait another 20 minutes on hold to find out my account before the last one from 19 months ago wasnt paid in full because some one stuffed up. Now owe more money that i wad told i had previously paid but now they are saying i havent paid them. They are the dodgiest company ever. To bad they are the only energy company in toowoomba.

Estimated our bill for over 18months, then hit us with the difference no warning and no reason the meter was not read correctly.

Good product but almost unafordable.
I just have to honestly say that the cost of the power that Ergon Energy provide is good reliable power but it is getting to a point where I am considering cutting away electricity all together as its truly becoming painfully unaffordable. Please consider selling your product at a more affordable rate such as 9c per KWH.

Worst company I ever dealt with.
I moved to new house, Ergon is the ONLY electricity provider in the area. First bill issued after owning property 3 weeks & using power part time 2 weeks was outrageously expensive. All efforts to contact company are in vain. Phone system is out of Orwell's 1984 with robot only service. Emailed the problem, no reply. Obvious they have a don't give a rat's butt attitude to customers. Absolutely disgusting mob of fools.

No Choice
Have been connected with them for 9 months. Because the previous owner of the property had his HWS connected to the general tariff, I have to pay over $200 to connect it to the cheaper tariff.
They sent me the first bill on time, but since then and after many phone calls no more bills until last week, but they are still not up to date. Ergon then reversed the 9 month old bill and charged an extra $800 or so on that bill plus the other bills they sent. We are supposed to get monthly bills. The call center staff can't actually do anything to help you, they just take the details and pass them on. No explanations as to why they reverse a bill then re issue at a lot higher amount. We have no choice in providers.

Should be negative stars
Absolutely appalling company. Bills can be 6X the previous one despite using less electricity during that bill cycle. Staff are useless and rude. It's a disgrace to the Australian government that remote communities in QLD are given no choice but to put up with this disgraceful company and it's corrupt ways. Hundreds spent on 'service fees' each bill yet the only 'service' we receive is being put on hold or getting two days notice to pay a ridiculous bill.. absolutely disgusting.

Abrupt and unhelpful customer service
With our electricity bills getting higher each quarter I telephoned Ergon for some information on tariffs and ways to reduce our bill. Whenever I asked a question I was told to go to the website as the information was there. The girl was either unable to answer my questions or just wanted to get me off the phone, I could not ascertain, but was very unhelpful and abrupt. Unfortunately I cannot take my business elsewhere as there is no competition in North Queensland, hopefully one day this will change.

Ergon Energy QLD the third world provider.
Living in the year 2017 you would think that the chances of a blackout would be slim but unfortunately, where I live, blackouts are a common occurrence. Living in the year 2017 you would also think that you can choose between energy providers, where I live you cannot.
Ergon Energy is the power company for miles and miles around here and basically everywhere north of the Sunshine Coast. They also provide the infrastructure, power lines/ poles etc. for some reason, where I live this infrastructure constantly fails resulting in constant blackout...Read more

Great Service
I just want to thank the team who restored my power yesterday. After a lightening strike my power went out. It was in the middle of a raging storm. Within two hours my power had been restored. Great work guys. Thank you.

Replaced our analog meter reader with a digital one with no notification
Ergon entered our property when we were on 2 week holiday and changed our analog meter to a digital one without notification. When I rang then, they said they had sent a letter, but we had received nothing in the mail. Strangely, we always receive their mailed-out electricity bills without those being 'lost'. There was nothing in the letter box telling us there was a new meter or information on how to read it. We have solar panels and previously could easily monitor our power usage and production. But not so now. I requested more information ...Read more

Dismal. Useless. Poor. Pathetic. Take your pick - Ergon is all of them.
Cannot believe that in the proud year of 2017 a government-owned 'business' can be such a completely useless waste of time and money.
You're more likely to having dinner with Jesus Christ at his second coming than to get a half decent response from any human within this organisation, let alone a self-respecting one.
If I had the choice of working for this company or dying a slow painful death, I would go for the latter.

Not a good service! don't want to use Ergon Energy anymore
I wanted to disconnect electricity as I moved out to go to overseas for a while. I called Ergon Energy to disconnect the service, and a few days after they said they visited the property but they cannot find the electricity reader on the property so they are going to charge me about $62 for that. How come they cannot find the reader box!! They regularly visited the property and read the electricity usage to send me a bill every three month. They now don't know where the electricity reader box is???!! and charge me more money for that?? this is ridiculous!!

Good afternoon, This afternoon I call Ergon and spoke to [name removed], I found this girl quite rude, she just talked over the top of me while I tried to talk to her about my account. She sound disinterested and talk very quickly, I got the feeling she didn't care "very frustrating". Maybe this is Ergon's culture?? Get the customer off the line quickly. I also want to discuss if I was on the correct taffif however didn't get to that, as I got the Impression Ergon was not interested with me calling.

I live out of town a bit, I tried to put on solar but ergon turned me down because i was on a swer line and cannot feed back into line. So i have to keep paying high power price, as ergon only company, what the hell 4816.

Mail unreadable.
Having a dispute over how they write the addressee name on mail. It is unreadable language [corrupted text DOG-latin] all capitals. They claim that they have no control over it and it is a format issue.
Rather than write in proper grammar they cut the power off.

haps it is because they trick as into becoming a trustee using the application form, thus creating a "legal person". Problem is that if they never disclosed this fact then perhaps they have committed fraud. Anyway now we are off the grid completely. Should have done it years ago. A question for David Smxxxs [Townsville]. When are you going to reply to the lawful notices that have been sent to you regarding trespass by one of your Agents or Employees that entered our land via a neighbors property to disconnect our power?Similar opinion? incompetent, and they expect YOU to fix THEIR mistakes.
Ergon sent me a letter saying the date/time they'd be turning my power off to replace the power meter, they turned up on a totally different day without notice, messing up some expensive equipment/work I had as they turned off my power when I wasn't home.. AND they screwed up my power box, which they then said was MY problem to get fixed through an electrician I had to organize! what a complete joke! you don't screw up something and then expect the customer to fix it! and everyone I spoke to in customer service was rude and didn't offer to do anything, just said it was my problem to sort out.
