Crooks - Fixdata Express Appliance And Express Appliance Repairs
I phoned Express Appliance Repairs to fix my AC. I was charged $29 as an admin fee and told the money would come off the invoice and my debit card details would be deleted. I received a phone call from [name removed] who asked me to video the back of my AC. He told me to blow into a black pipe hanging down. This did not fix my AC. He said he would call me back as sometimes it can take a while for it to work. He called back. It was still not fixed. He wanted to make a time to visit my home to make a service call. I said no, as I was getting susp...Read more
icious at this stage. I then received by email from [name removed], the owner/boss an invoice for $218.90. I sent a return email advising they had not fixed my AC and to reverse the invoice. I did not receive a response until yesterday when I received a receipt for $189.90 which had been taken out of my account as a service call fee. I phoned the company immediately and spoke to a woman named [name removed] who said she would reimburse the payment and needed confirmation to do that. I phoned this morning to follow up and [name removed] owner/boss answered the phone I asked for the $189.90 to be reimbursed back into my account as his company had not fixed my AC. He became rude, told lies and became threatening. I ended the call. They have been reported to Consumer Affairs and the police so their time will come. But do not have anything to do with [name removed] or this company. They are crooks.

Terrible!
Our washing machine – a Miele – broke down one Wednesday. I shopped around on the internet and came across “Rapid Appliance Repairs”. When I rang they said yes, they could send a technician around the next day, and there was a $29 booking fee. We chose the flat rate for the repair of $268 (it wasn’t mentioned that this did not include GST). This covered all labour, no matter how long the repair took, but spare parts were extra. A technician (from a firm called "Express Appliance Repairs", it seems that "Rapid Appliance Repairs" is an internet f...Read more
ront for this firm) duly came out the next day and after over an hour’s work couldn’t fix it. He didn’t seem to know what he was doing: in spite of my having provided the precise model number, he did not know that the motor did not have carbon brushes. He thought the motor was probably working, and that the fault lay with the controller board, a new one of which he thought would cost around $200. He would report back to his firm and let us know. It wasn’t until the following Thursday – after a number of phone calls from us – that “Express Appliance Repairs” finally got back to us. They told us that the parts for the machine would have to come from Germany and this would take two weeks. Because they were not sure whether the fault was in the controller board or the motor or both (this might suggest that these people don’t know much about repairing washing machines), they would have to order both and install both. The controller board would cost around $500 (in spite of the technician saying around $200) and the motor around $900, which we would have to pay up-front. My protests that this was more than a new machine would cost got me nowhere. However, we were told that, if we didn’t want to go ahead with the repair of our old machine, “Express Appliance Repairs” could sell us a new washing machine of whatever make we chose, with free delivery and installation. The $260 would not be refunded, in spite of our old machine not having been repaired. By this stage we didn’t trust anything they said, so we said “thanks, but no thanks”, and bought a new washing machine at our local “Good Guys” for about a third of what the Miele parts would allegedly cost. It’s not quite a scam, but comes close. “Express Appliance Repairs” sends out their technician, if the repair looks like being complicated or time consuming he returns to headquarters for further orders, then the client is phoned and told, yes, the machine can be fixed but unfortunately the parts have to be imported and will cost….. and here they name a figure which is guaranteed to deter the client from having the repair done and virtually guarantees them the sale of a new washing machine – and of course they can pocket the money for the repairs that never happened, which in our case came to $323.80. My advice? If your washing machine breaks down, get a new one, rather than end up in the clutches of these people.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Disgraceful
These people are criminals. Charged me $294.80 call out and labour to fix my fridge, parts extra. Took my money, then told me the fridge is not worth fixing. Too expensive and not economical. But they only told me that after first gouging me for almost $300 in a call out. Shame on you. Shame Shame Shame.
Wish I had read these reviews before hiring these crooks.

Scary- stay away from these standover men
They actually damaged the appliance they came to repair. When we complained they demanded that we write a letter relieving them of fault. They bombarded us with calls and texts day and night. They threatened to come to the house and ‘return it to its original state’- ie damage it further if we refused to comply. We paid in full before anyone started any ‘work’ on the appliance. Seeking legal/ police advice at this stage.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
I have never gave a bad review in my life. This company deserves it and should be shut down. Your contractors in my house for 10 minutes, told me my appliances were not worth fixing due to the cost of repair, left a mess and still charged $430. I am okay with and understand the $30 call out fee you initially charged me (sly way of grabbing my bank details to rob me later) but absolutely disgusted that you can sleep at night after ripping all these innocent people off. No wonder you do not have social media accounts, I can only imagine the rage that would expressed through there. I hope karma finds you.

Slow, disgraceful service and happy to charge for work not done
Looks like I've been ripped off like many others. Wish I'd seen this forum earlier. If after reading this review, you have found it useful, please mark as so - I'd really like to spread the word as much as possible and know I have helped some other innocent consumers out.

escription properly. He asked no investigative questions and then proceeded to have a guess what the problem was. After being promised a return phone call regarding a return visit for a part replacement, I heard nothing. Never mind that our family was going days without a dishwasher. Eventually I couldn't wait any longer and bought a cheap 2nd hand dishwasher on Gumtree. When I rang to cancel they said I would be charged $368 for the pleasure of a 5 minute call out and no resolution. Talking to the 'manager' was useless as all I got was a terrible attitude and a 'tough luck' response. I told them they were not authorised to take further funds from my credit card as I didn't agree to the charge. After hearing nothing for at least a month, I got a call from Mordy (i assume he was the original technician but he never introduced himself so I'm not sure). He was calling to organise a call back. A month later! I told him to check his records as I had cancelled the job over a month prior. Then a few days later $160 is taken from my credit card without authorisation. Pretty sure they are not supposed to hold CC details that long. Hopefully someone from ACMA reads this review and investigates them for privacy breaches. Anyway, it's not worth fighting for the remaining money but I'm hoping that this review helps others steer clear of them. Please mark this review helpful if it has led you away from this company. I'd like to know if I've been able to help others by posting this review.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Would give zero if I could.
Fisher and Paykel Fridge icing up. Express tech damaged the fridge further, didn't fix the original problem and charged a ridiculous amount. "Head Office" had no interest in trying to help - "just ring the tech direct". Complained to Consumer Affairs but they had no luck either. Can't be bothered taking them to court - that's what they rely on.
True Fisher and Paykel tech couldn't work out what the Express guy had tried to do.
AVOID!!

Untrustworthy
If you don't want to wait for days for them to call you back or reply to your messages, don't call them for service.
If your washing machine not working, don't call them.
You will paid for more than $200 for call out fee, but nothing will be fixed, and they let you wait for days for nothing.

COMPLETE RIP OFF!!!!
Got them out to "repair" my Samsung Front Load Washing machine door which was stuck with laundry inside it. Was assured that it was most likely just a spring that needed to be replaced and would probably only take 20 minutes max. Some guy turned up in a van with another company name on it and stuffed around for about 2 hours and couldn't fix it. Was charged over $400 and then had to pay for someone else to dump the machine plus buy a new washing machine anyway. Tried to call them to say I wasn't happy and got bounced around to various people wh...Read more
o all claimed they couldn't help so I gave up. I'll never call another repair person to my home ever again and even if I did it certainly wouldn't be this mob. My advice is steer clear of them completely.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Bad service
Terrible service. Over charged, waited 5 weeks for parts and had to chase them numerous times to find out when the parts were due in. Finally made an appointment 5 weeks after I paid them to fix my washing machine and they didn't turn up.

Rip-off!
Dishwasher not working. Rang them and paid $29 deposit. Technician arrived next day. Didn't even bring his tools in. Was in my kitchen for 10 minutes maximum. "Cockroaches have destroyed your control board." Quote for the new board $399 "and there may be more problems". I decided not to go ahead with it. Charge for the 10 minute visit $199 plus GST. Complained to some manager who reduced it to $168 plus GST. "We're losing money on this," he says! What a rip-off!

We had just purchased a property and found that some repairs were needed for the oven, dishwasher and heat pump. We found Express Appliance Repairs online. I found the admin people I spoke to on the phone to be very polite and efficient.
When the Service tech, Bruce arrived I found him to be very polite, professional and knowledgable. He diagnosed the problems quickly, ordered the parts needed and I was contacted and kept up to date whilst awaiting the delivery of the needed parts.

Over charge and under perform.
Go direct and get an authorised repairer for half the price - call out charge is higher than normal and does not include anytime while repaired is at your home.

Not Happy Jan!!
I called this morning to book in a repair for my washing machine. An appointment was confirmed for this afternoon. They charged me $29 to book in the appointment. I was contacted within a couple of hours and advised that the technician could not come today (Wednesday) and the earliest they could book me in is next Monday. Happy to take your money and then let you down afterwards. i know I can get my booking fee refunded but that's not the point. Don't take money to confirm an appointment if you are not confirming the appointment. I am left feeling suspicious of this organisations ethics and business practices.

Terrible service
Needed my central heating repaired urgently as I had a family member coming home from hospital. Promised an appointment for Friday so cancelled a previous booking for the Monday which would have been significantly cheaper. ( and as it turns out likely to have been quicker) After cancelling received a call to say that they couldn't do Friday but would do Monday. 2 delightful young men, who I discovered where subcontractors, arrived on time but the heater required parts. The subcontractors have to go through Express appliances to get a quote. Ex...Read more
press appliances have to contact the customer with the quote then recontact the subcontractor who will then make another appointment with the client. This is a very protracted business & does not make for speedy repairs. They are also very expensive. Beware of internet booking companies who do not have their own technicians.Similar opinion?
