Women beware - this company DOES discriminates!
I had a policy with health.com.au and was transferred to another policy with what I believe was insufficient communicate (an email that went to my junk box). On this new policy they do not cover IVF (the reason I took out this cover in the first place) and the price I had been paying for this policy was ridiculous. When I called to discuss the email I was told that my only option was to move insurance companies - I have never come across a company that were happy to let customers go. It then all made sense. I informed the 'manager' that this wa...Read more
s discrimination against women wanting to get pregnant and the response I received was that this was a "business decision that health.com.au had made and they were happy to wear the fall out from their customers, even when it means that they have to tell people to leave their company and lose customers". I am disgusted that this is allowed to even happen in today's day and age.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best Health Fund In Australia.
I have been in several health funds 35 years in total and Health.com is by far the best. I was previously in BUPA and was paying $40 a month more for less cover. For example, on a $200 dental account with Bupa I was getting back $40 with Health.com I get $150 to $160. They text and let you know when premiums are coming out every month and If you call them they are extremely helpful. I get aprox 75% to 80% back and my limits are higher.I have never felt the need to leave a review before but this time it is deserved.

Great Health Fund
Best health fund I have been a member of, glad I made the change. Was initially worried that they were a internet based health fund with no branches but I need not have been concerned at all. Been with them for over a year now and very happy. I love that I receive a sms message days before my direct debit is due to come out, also appreciate the sms message I automatically receive the day after i have paid for a service advising me what I should have paid to the provider and the amount they should have rebated me. Have only needed to ever call twice and that was when I first joined needing assistance to navigate the website to log in to my details. Great service.

Terrible service
I had an account that I cancelled. They did not process the cancelation and charged me for a full month of insurance anyway. It has now been 10 days and 3 phone calls and I still do not have a refund. This is effectively stealing money from my bank account.
One of their phone operators actually said that other operators were "not trained well" when I questioned why the delay. That is from their own staff and as of now I am still waiting for my money back...........

Best customer service ever
I joined health.com.au a few months ago over the phone, and could not be happier - I shifted from my other health insurance of over 10 years to health.com.au, and was so surprised with 1. how much I saved 2. the IMMEDIATE customer service 3. how much I get back compared to my previous one 4. can use ANY dentist/chiro/optometrist etc i want and much more. Thanks health.com.au for an unexpected great experience with a health insurance company. I wish all the other companies I deal with treated me the same way.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
I am writing this review to let present and future customers of health.com.au know that this fund along with their staff, (who in fact really make a business successful) ........ is the most helpful, understanding, honest and reliable health fund I have been in over 30 years!!! Even if there is an issue to be sorted, the staff go out of their way to ensure that their client is assisted fairly and promptly and ALWAYS with a sense of humor and never forgetting that I am actually a person and not a number.

Absolutely heart broken, this false advertising
my sister and a friend had gastric surgery when i saw the results i got excited and jumped on the iselect website to find the insurance with the fastest waiting time.
i keyed in Surgical Weight Loss Procedures as my only interest and the website searched for the best deal, it found Heath.com.au insurance with a waiting period of 2 months (unless pre existing).
i assumed pre existing meant if the procedure was midstream.
after 11 weeks i started organising and when i called Heath.com.au insurance to ask about the coverage. i was told that it ...Read more

Not upfront about waiting period - now out of pocket on their advice
Called health.com.au to enquire about how much I would be covered for if I decided to go ahead with the Invisalign treatment I had discussed with my dentist that morning. They told me of would receive 65% up to $350 without any mention of a waiting period. With that in mind I decided to go ahead and paid money to the dentist to have my trays made up. I just called them again to ask if I could upgrade my policy to cover even more of the treatment and they are all "you have to serve a 12 month waiting period". Would have been excellent to receive...Read more
that information before I committed to the treatment and was already out of pocket. It might have been in the original documents when we signed up... But I never saw them and that's why I called them in the first place. Their excuse is that they never said there was no waiting period.. But they never said there was either!!!! Dodgy. Bad advice, ripped off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great simple insurance! You know what you get back! No preferred providers!!
I am a dentist and i see people daily not getting back what they are promised by their health funds due to the complex nature of preferred providers and the trickery with minor/major dental, bonsues etc.
I joined Health.com.au for my private health insurance after finding out that they have no preferred providers which means you can see the doctor, dentist, prodiatrist, chiropractor that you choose and not the one your fund chooses. This means you get the same rebate wherever you go! Whereas with the preferred provider system which most fund...Read more
s follow (e.g. BUPA) you only get their advertised returns when you visit the provider of their choice. I simply find Health.com.au to be very predictable and easy, especially with the 65%, 75% and 85% tiers of cover. I am recommending it to all my patients, friends and family who want, simple easy to understand health insurance that gives back what you put in!! I have swapped my personal cover over to Health.com.au and i encourage you to do it too. No preferred providers! :) Lets me see the provider I want and get covered for the same amount! And i know exactly how much they cover every time! Its simple and reliable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Reliable and trustworthy insurance.
I joined health.com.au in December 2012 as I needed a root canal treatment. As far as I know, Health.com.au is the only insurance that consider root canal treatment as general dental instead of major dental. I found the website very easy to use. It is very easy to make claim and it is processed relatively quickly. I am so grateful for this company and recommend it to everyone I know.
Great price, easy to make claims, great website, great cover

Really easy health insurance!
I found Health.com.au very simple to use, and very helpful whenever I have had any questions - my phone call was answered right away, the person at the end of the phone, based in Melbourne, helped me with my enquiry and I was on my way to the Osteopath in no time. I just wish my back was as easy to fix as my health insurance was to use!
Swipe my card at the health provider, nothing more to do.

Hi being a member of health.com will I be able to get into our public hospital in Hobart quicker than some one without insurance ? Emergency’s excepted

Hi There!
Unfortunately, holding private cover does not guarantee quicker access or treatment in a public hospital, as exactly when you get admitted depends on a number of factors.
For example the type of treatment you need, in addition to the availability of both staff and the required facilities, are things that could impact how quickly you're admitted.
As a private patient, you can request to be treated by your specialist of choice in a public hospital, however this would need to be arranged in consultation with staff at the facility.
I hope that information helps!
Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you have further questions.

If considering changing over my current health insurance from Medibank Private, is there a waiting period incurred on claiming? I am looking for health cover that is basic and easy to claim where necessary. I am not a high user of medical treatments.
Thanks Kathlin

Most health funds have waiting periods for various procedures. This is normal and usually in place to stop people getting cover just as they need treatment then stopping cover once all their treatment is complete.
Im not sure on what specific policy health.com.au has in this regard. However, many will waive the waiting period if you are transferring from a previous equal/higher level of cover or even as as incentives to switch over. My advise is simply to shop around and ask all your questions before committing to any health fund.
As I have previously mentioned, my experiences with health.com.au have been good. I am personally not a high user of medical treatments and it works for me personally. I have also found it easy to claim but i have only used the HICAPS system of claiming.
Hope that helps
