Service service service!!
I’ve just called to check the Olympic Bronze, Silver .. updates and to see about Orthodontics for my boy. I was very impressed with the knowledge, off the cuff of my “handler” (cause some call centres feel like this). He was polite, responsive, knowledgeable and practical with info on the difference between policies... all while it was about ten minutes before they closed. So very impressed.. but ... there is always one... I can’t remember his name! So my apologies for that but your service was brilliant. (And any manager can contact me to ask about how it all went)

Best Health Insurance Company
We have been with health.com.au for over 6 years now. We have received good value and that has been right from the start. It was so simple to set up our membership online and most of our claims have been settled within 3 days of lodging. The staff are always friendly and helpful. In particular Christian was helpful today, I spoke to him about our current cover and we did make some changes to our policy with him that ensured we were only paying for the cover we required. I could not fault health.com.au, they have always been customer focused and easy to deal with.

Pure Fraud
I went online and followed the simple prompts to obtain a quote for basic hospital cover as a Tier 1 earner.
I was quoted a yearly premium of $752.14 so I signed up. They then sent me an email that advised me (in the smallest font possible) that they were charging me $835.93 premium - for no apparent reason. And after giving them a chance to fix it, they made more excuses. sooo rubbish

Excellent customer service
I spoke with Christian and he was extremely professional and easy to communicate with. Christian was able to answer all of my queries, briefly seeking confirmation offline as required, leaving me feeling satisfied the information could be relied on. Life would be easier if there were more Christian's in customer service roles.

Had to call regarding a claim as I was unable to submit online. Jack in Customer Service was a pleasure to deal with and super helpful. It's nice being able to get through to a human without being placed on hold for eternity as well!

Easy to deal with
Joe was great with his helpful service. Always great service and never any claims issues generally. I’ve been with health.com.au for over 5 years and it’s always been easy. Online access make changes easy as well and claims paid quickly.

Product and customer service
Customer service was very good, calls are answered quickly and Jock was able to explain recent government changes and current products available. This helped inform my decision to change my level of cover, as my current policy doesn't meet my needs.

Great Customer Service Team but poor system.
I feel like writing two seperate reviews for this. First of all the team in the call centre have been fantastic. I have not had to wait more than a minute to speak to someone. They have been friendly and actioned anything I required on the spot. Thanks so much to Melissa, Roxy and Jack. 5 stars for the CS team!!!
I feel like they and I have been let down on what is an outdated system that runs everything. Their website looks so fresh and modern and then you click log in and I feel like I am using windows XP. I think this causes the issues I have had with gov rebates, details from my existing fund etc.... 2 Stars to that!

Everything is pre exisiting - even emergency surgery
I had emergency surgery performed and have 3 independent medical reports that state the symptoms were never present, it was not pre exisiting, not to mention this problem is something that occurs almost immediately and it is physically and medically impossible to be pre exisiting yet they have deemed it pre existing from their 'independent medical referee'. I am looking to get in touch with anyone else who has had similar problems as I will be forming a group to take this matter further as these thieves should not be able to get away with it!

Unfortunately, holding private cover does not guarantee quicker access or treatment in a public hospital, as exactly when you get admitted depends on a number of factors.
For example the type of treatment you need, in addition to the availability of both staff and the required facilities, are things that could impact how quickly you're admitted.
As a private patient, you can request to be treated by your specialist of choice in a public hospital, however this would need to be arranged in consultation with staff at the facility.

Most health funds have waiting periods for various procedures. This is normal and usually in place to stop people getting cover just as they need treatment then stopping cover once all their treatment is complete.
Im not sure on what specific policy health.com.au has in this regard. However, many will waive the waiting period if you are transferring from a previous equal/higher level of cover or even as as incentives to switch over. My advise is simply to shop around and ask all your questions before committing to any health fund.
As I have previously mentioned, my experiences with health.com.au have been good. I am personally not a high user of medical treatments and it works for me personally. I have also found it easy to claim but i have only used the HICAPS system of claiming.
