Website misleads you on premium
I was looking forward to joining this fund given the positive reviews that it had and the pretty good web interface which made understanding what was and was not covered easy to understand. I found something that was around the price I was ok with so joined up.
However the cost I was being charged was around $15 a fortnight more. When I inquired, I was told that I had made a mistake with my tier rating. Except that when I double checked their website, I got the same prices with the message "You made it! We recommend these products based on...Read more
your selections." So, you would be entitled to think that the prices on their website are what their policies cost, but they aren't. Further up on the page is a small dropdown menu where you need to change the tier ratings which is why the amount I was charged did not match the "recommend(ation)" and the advertised price. It's a small line up the top which is easily missed. What they needed to do was to ask the question about tiers BEFORE saying "You made it ....", then this would not have happened.1 comment

So far so good. I have been with the company for 4+ years & had no trouble!
Policy is good value and the website is easy to use. Lodging a claim is pretty simple and it does not take long to recover owed funds. I have never had anything knocked back that was a reasonable ask.
Just upgraded from an old plan to a new one with more cover. Bonnie from the team was very helpful in walking through what I needed and pricing up my options. I recommend this company.

Very helpful!
Bonnie was extremely helpful & explained everything regarding my husbands operation coming up. She checked out our policy in minutes and told us we were fully covered by then. Bonnie explained the payment procedures and advised us what questions we need to ask the hospital, surgeons etc in regards to payments.

Great Customer Service from Jack !
Today I rang to just check on my policy cover. I Spoke to Jack who was so friendly and professional. He explained everything so clearly (sometimes it can seem so overwhelming with whats covered whats not) and stopped to answer all the questions I had. By the end of the phone call I felt really happy and listened to about what works for our family and felt he was really honest and transparent about everything . I wouldn't normally feel happier about spending more money but I know I am in good hands and feel really covered by what our family needs! Thank you so much Jack for a great customer experience.

Very good phone service from Jack
Jack helped me with an issue and was police and efficient and very helpful.
We are still working on resolving the problem. with the previous health fund that we are transferring from.

Change of policy
Was enquiring about what my policy had in extras and if there was a bette option. The employer was very informative, helpful and patient . Change for better option and saved me $20 a month with better extras for our family .

Fast and excellent service
I lodged a claik through Bonnie and Jock and they were very fast at processing it even though it was an error on my end when I attached the wrong receipt. They are also very friendly and have amazing customer service.

Rip off
I chose a basic health cover on their website and they calculated $1100. I trusted them and gave my bank account details. A few days later they sent a text message that my standard premium for $1286 will be prossesed tomorrow(more that what I had agreed). I called them immediately and cancelled it. They sent a termination email but again they took off $1286 from my account the day after.
They ask for your bank account detail before finalizing the total cost which is more than innitial estimation and take money whithout your permission! And hold it as long as they can.

Its a complete fraud and rip off.
I signed up with them because their premium was little less than Allianz. But they are completely rip off as nothing is covered under your cover. No pathology, no Xrays and in imaging.
And if youre admitted to the hospital, you have to pay excessive excess fee.
I advise everyone to pay a little extra every month with another good insurance as this is gonna cost you many times higher if you have to use any medical facility.

Worst rip off ever
I have been a member of health.com.au for 5 years approximately. Found out my wife needs some surgery, contacted health.com.au and nothing is covered and even it was a $500.00 excess applies. Have top hospital cover and have had for some time now. Private hospital admission is only $1300 per day, far less than health.com.au's monthly fees x 5 years! Better off saving that money myself into my own private health fund like I believe many Australians are now doing. Save yourself the stress and pay for it yourself.

you've currently got our top product and we aren't covering a surgery your wife needs, that sounds a little strange (Unless it was elective cosmetic surgery). Your excess would always apply, however the cost of private hospital varies a lot per day as they all have different rates. Whilst it may be $1300 a day at one hospital, it could be vastly different at the next. You could pay a $500 excess and be in hospital for 4 days, meaning a few thousand dollars of accommodation fees would be covered by your health fund, above the excess.Similar opinion? Always easy to deal with a the best benifits
I've been with health.com.au for years now. My husband is with another provider and dealing with them is tedious and their benefits not as good. You are always speaking to an Australia based person without long to wait

Quick resolution

Hi There!
Unfortunately, holding private cover does not guarantee quicker access or treatment in a public hospital, as exactly when you get admitted depends on a number of factors.
For example the type of treatment you need, in addition to the availability of both staff and the required facilities, are things that could impact how quickly you're admitted.
As a private patient, you can request to be treated by your specialist of choice in a public hospital, however this would need to be arranged in consultation with staff at the facility.

If considering changing over my current health insurance from Medibank Private, is there a waiting period incurred on claiming? I am looking for health cover that is basic and easy to claim where necessary. I am not a high user of medical treatments.

Most health funds have waiting periods for various procedures. This is normal and usually in place to stop people getting cover just as they need treatment then stopping cover once all their treatment is complete.
Im not sure on what specific policy health.com.au has in this regard. However, many will waive the waiting period if you are transferring from a previous equal/higher level of cover or even as as incentives to switch over. My advise is simply to shop around and ask all your questions before committing to any health fund.
As I have previously mentioned, my experiences with health.com.au have been good. I am personally not a high user of medical treatments and it works for me personally. I have also found it easy to claim but i have only used the HICAPS system of claiming.
