Sales person at at Harvey Norman was very knowledgeable and with that we went with the Roomba 980... unfortunately not happy at all... I have a 40sq home and issues arose immediately. The information booklet states that there is phone assistance from 9am-9pm M-F & 9-6pm Weekends...that's incorrect. I needed help right from the start and there was no one there to take my call.

I haven't yet decided whether to take my Roomba back to the store and ask for a refund. My problem is that it simply does not vacuum my downstairs area. It does my kitchen and a small part of my entrance area then returns to base after just 22 minutes leaving all the lounge dining and study untouched! Before purchasing the Roomba 980 I was sceptical. Everyday I am thankful that I purchased it. Instead of spending many hours manually vacuuming my large house, Roomba sets off and vacuums brilliantly. We have dark charcoal carpet and floor boards. I have to vacuum my house twice a day with our dyson and it’s a pain plus having to change attachments to get along the skirtings. I bought this Roomba a week ago and it has changed my life lol it does a better job at the carpet than my dyson, honestly! I have been a fan of roomba vacuums for years, we had a 580 for over 10 years worked like a dream, even with animals. So we updated recently to the 980 and I must admit I am very disappointed, the new type of roller they have installed under the machine only picks up a fraction of what the old style brushes on the older model did. So it was a bit of a pain to have to go through the brush cleaning process after each clean, but at least you knew the carpets and rugs were clean, with the 980 it leaves most of the dirt behind.

Must admit I was a little skeptical about this purchase, but I had some bonus money so we took the chance and bought one. I thought it would clean the hard surfaces ok but was a bit unsure about carpet. But since having it for 4 months we have been very impressed and the house floors have never been cleaner. The house size is around 200sqm with about a 70/30 hard/carpet floor split. I got one small dog and laminate, tiles floor in my house. I use the robot everyday, set the working time via the app and just clear the vacuum box everyday when I have time.
Almost no hair can find on my laminate floor and clean every corner as well but ! The down side for the robot is the carpet. It cannot suck up the hair on the carpet. (My carpet color is black and my dog's hair is white. Lol)

This machine is THE best purchase I have ever made. Yes it's pricey but it's worth it! I have a messy toddler and a husband that loves to leave crumbs in the kitchen and this thing picks up everything!
It might not get right into the corners but my floors are certainly cleaner than before. I use my normal vacuum now to just vacuum corners and edges of rooms as my Roomba does all the hard work.

My objective was get as close to handheld vacuum suction as I could but with the capacity to navigate well under furniture and, most importantly, also clean wall EDGES.
