Hi just wondering how my tap on the front of my expanda works please I have the water mains connected but when I turn the tap on no water comes out please help.

Hi Sam,
I have a tap on the draw bar of mine and it runs from mains. Was it installed from new ? Or previous owner set it up ? You might need to trace the line back to see where it goes to. It possibly could be connected to your water tank under your jayco. Have you filled the tank and tried to turn the tap on ?
Cheers
Dan
It is probably just typical unreliability, pretty sure it should just come out when you turn it on
Thanks guys after turning tap on and waiting a couple of minutes it worked think I was a little inpatient

I have a 2008 Jayco Expanda 16.49-1 and it does not have a battery pack installed. I require information on what I need to do to install a battery and charger for this model? I will attempt the install myself. I had a look at the fuse box and transformer under the seat near the air con compressor and there is not much to see, just a cluster of various electrical cables in conduit running into the back of the box and one 240 cable coming from the box to a power outlet nearby. Where do I start?

The jayco box is a charger and 12v supply . Connect your battery to the pos and neg terminals at the back of the box and you will have charge and 12v supply.
An isolator switch of the pos batt terminal will be required so that you can have 240 running without overcharging the batt.
Hope this helps.
Hello Larry, thanks for your reply. Does fitting an isolator switch mean every time 240v is running I should turn the isolator switch off? I thought the Jayco charger which I believe charges at around 10amps would have reduced it's charging rate when the battery is fully charged, I also thought it would be necessary when running on 240 to leave the isolator switch on so the battery can actually receive a charge, isn't this how the battery will be charged anyway?

I have found that some of the plastic Springs (for want of a better word) that help the skirt fold in when lowering the roof are broken, is there a better replacement available? I didn't have trouble on older model.

Do I need to be connected to the water mains permanently to use the shower or kitchen sink? The fitting where the hose connects to the van is loose, is this normal?
Thanks Colin

No, it will work on 12v if you have a internal shower fitted. some expanda's only come with a hand pump so for the tap to work you have to be connected to mains but if it has a internal shower fitted they come with 12v pumps.
and yes, my fitting is always loose. just dont turn the mains pressure on too high

Can the power sockets in van work from battery if free camping? And what items work ??
1 answer
Only the 12 volt outlets can work from the battery. If you have 240 volt appliance you well need either a generator or an inverter for off the grid camping. I have all 12 volt TV etc.

We recently purchased a second hand caravan - 2009 Jayco Outback Expanda 16-49-3. They owners said the dining table converted to make an extra bed but we cannot work out how this is done. Does anyone know if this is a standard inclusion in the van or if its an optional extra. If an extra does anyone know where we can buy a conversion kit from? We are in Brisbane.

We have a 17.56-2 outback expanda. Toilet worked fine, in the morning it wouldn't flush, it made the noise but the water was not not- emptied the cassette, put it back in and still no flushing water but you can hear the pump working. We were hooked into mains water. the water is spitting out when first pressing the pump button but then nothing.Any ideas??Do i need to prime the water?? the indicator where the cassette is has no water. Both water tanks are full as well.
Thanks guys

I'll answer my own!!! Sorted it out... the tank was empty. I assumed it was hooked up to the water tanks but realise now this is not the case. The funnel shoot appears to be full all the time which was throwing me as it looked full.

We brought a 2016 model straight from showroom. Having issues with cabinets - falling off and handle/locks not working. I see others have had same issues. Can you tell me if they have been fixed satisfactory and if so how? We are on second service and still having problems. Thanks
2 answers
Hi Kerry sounds the same problems we have ours is two years old and still having problems with doors coming loose and those stupid lock buttons that stick in half way also leaking problems. the only advise I can give you is to find a handy man that can sort these problems out because Jayco brakeo won't be much help as I have found out.
Would not recommend this product to any one
I suspected as much, this is our first van and we jumped in too quick I think. Going to keep at them a bit more to see what they will do. It would make sense to me if you are getting complaints and wasting service dept time they would change their cabinet fittings, especially if over a few years. Very disappointed. Thank you for your reply and have a good day.

Has anyone else had serious issues with the new 18ft expanda mattresses being to thin and causing restless sleep and sore backs?
Is so, other than buying expensive mattress toppers has anyone found a solution?
5 answers
Don't buy a Jayco they make the caravan to suit their pocket not yours hence cheap and nasty mattresses and many other items like doors falling off water leaks and the list goes on and on
Hi Kerby's
Yeah I totally hear where your coming from. We just spent 3 nights away. The by product being sore backs (both my wife and I).
We are also looking at the idea of a mattress topper. The mattresses look like they are made well but I guess they are catering for heavier people. It's hard to cater for all.
If we find s suitable topper I'll let you know.
Regards
Cam
Hi Cam, Between my husband and I we only weigh 150kgs if that. We bought the most expensive and fluffy mattress protector /topper for $300+ from pillowtalk. Even without laying on the mattress you can literally press it down with your hand.
We had the expanda 17ft poptop 2014 bought new prior to upgrading and the mattress was double the thickness of this one.
Regards Kerby's
