Karcher FC5 Corded (page 2 of 5)
Reviewer Photos & Videos
Tile floor, once a week, will not do edges. Rollers stopped spinning before year was up. Seals leak both clean and dirty water. Does not handle hair well, continually cleaning both intake and rollers. Only kitchen and family room tiled and only average size. waste of money and time.

It is already in the bin. I don't keep failed items or equipment.

I have had two of this product in 12 months. The first broke down within a month with the top plate over the rollers consistently popping off in use. Fortunately Bunnings gave me a full refund.
After six months I tried again. With one openpay installment left my unit is not supplying water from the clean water resiour, rollers seem to screach and slip and the too cover constantly won't click and stay in place.
I hate looking at it as I hand mop around it each day.
I am a full time career and could not really afford it, but my diabetic partner had a partial foot amputation and I really hoped this expensive machine would help me keep the floor cleaner

Purchased from Goodguys, paid $350. Within 12 months it stopped working and the product was replaced under warranty. Again within 4 months new unit is not working. Whilst I have no complaints about the job it does, I do have a question mark on product reliability. Product is costly hence it is expected to work for sometime but clearly doesn’t. Disappointing product from Karcher.

I’ve use my Karcher floor cleaner, maybe 20 times and the rollers stop spinning. Come to realize that the motherboard and the gaskets are all corroded. Apparently, The parts are not waterproof. $259 and now it’s going into the garbage. So disappointed.

I bought this unit to clean and mop large areas of polished timber floors. Karcher claims that the unit vacuums at the same time however it doesn't pick up everything your normal vacuum cleaner does. For this reason we usually vacuum separately and use he FC5 as a powered mop only.
In terms of mopping hard surfaces, the Karcher performs well and does reduce the amount of effort required compared to manual mopping. It doesn't leave the floors too wet which is important for timber floors and to ensure that residue is not visible on the sur...
Read moreface after drying. However there does appear to be a design fault in that the grey button which releases the suction head cover often gets pushed down excessively through the process of refitting the cover. When this happens it will cut off the clean water supply to the mop. I suspect this issue may be the cause of problems with some others who have had issues with the machine. It does require cleaning and some maintenance after each use so we don't use it for small jobs since the cleaning/maintenance will mean that there isn't any time or effort saved. So in summary - it its mainly useful as a mechanised mop on larger areas but you need to be very careful with the way it is handled to avoid water being cut off to the rollers.Purchased at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Electronics for $389.

Purchased in May 2018 from Bunnings Kirrawee for $363. Clean water didn't always flow. Returned it in Nov '18 to Bunnings after speaking to Karcher. Bunnings replaced it with a new unit. 2 years on i find it to be heavy, water flow inconsistent, rollers not always moving and recently, noise from rollers too. And if you don't hold it at the right angle, the rubber wiper on the back of the rollers snags the floor. Now i just i dont use it. Such a chore. Its outside warranty about 3 months, so I drove an hour to Karcher Service in Eastern Creek to...
Read more see if they can help fix the rollers for a small fee. Was surprised to hear it would cost $239 to repair any issue. No tech on site, 3rd party tech is in Melbourne. For a big company why can't they have a tech based in Sydney too. All this stuff that the Cust Svc on the phone neglected to mention before I drove out. My unit is now getting dumped in next council clean up.Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $363.

Purchased 2 of them. Both stopped working after one year. Both same problem. Suction of waste water stopped. Water not flowing to rollers. I believe it's a faulty design. Useless. Slow service and frustrating. Never reply to emails. Waste of money.

I bought the Kacher FC5 and it was terrific for what I needed. I have both tiles and hard wooden floors. It cut down work, for sure. However, on the second day I had it, the water tank repetitively leaked everywhere. I am going to get another one, but am disappointed that we have to go back to the shop to exchange it. Fingers crossed we don't get another faulty machine.

water not flowing to rollers. filter disintegrated and no followup from service department. Spend more time making sure nothing is blocked than it actually works . Mop and bucket a much better option.

Purchased Karcher FC5 corded June 2018, aside from a couple of inconveniences was fairly happy with the machine...… however, for the last couple of times of use the fresh water is not getting to the rollers as it should so the clean was at about 25%. We are both over 70 years of age and due to the risky times we are experiencing we have not returned it to place of purchase (Bunnings Jamisontown NSW) and worry about our warranty. We have followed the troubleshooting instructions in the booklet but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

Re: FC 5 CORDED HARD FLOOR CLEANER
1. I purchased on Mon 27 Jan 2020, FC 5 Corded Hard Floor Cleaner from Bunnings Mt Garvatt for $399.
2. Problems with the FC 5 were the same as those we experienced with FC 3. We purchased FC 5 as it was promoted to be an improved version by the Bunnings staff.
3. Our FC 5 is only 6 months, used fortnightly. And already facing issues -
a) the suction system to pull the dirty water in the back container does not work, so no dirty water is collected leaving the tiles wet and not dried at all
b) the water holder in the front spews out water everywhere
c) after running it for a few minutes, the motor starts making a horrible cracking noise and the rollers stop turning...

I bought this to keep our timber floors clean. Bottom line is I'm extremely happy with the results. The floors are cleaner than any mop job. After 3 consecutive cleans, the dirty water was approaching the level of dirtiness as a standard mop clean so it's clearly pulling up way more dirt and grime. I can now clean our kitchen, dining and lounge area in about 5 minutes so our house is consistently cleaner than it ever has been. Our house is about 100 square metres of floor and I can do the entire area on one tank. It's hard to believe how clean ...
Read moreyou can get such a large area on such little water. I also love that you can use any floor cleaner in it as long as you don't use ammonia or bleach. I can't comment yet on longevity of the product. But with a 2 year warranty which is doubled by our credit card company, I'm not overly concerned if I have to take it back under warranty. I really hope it lasts though as it does a great job of cleaning. I'd recommend doing a standard vacuum before mopping as whilst it will pick up small stuff, it's 80% mop and 20% vacuum cleaner. Make sure you follow the simple cleaning directions after use. If you don't, the mop heads get pretty smelly :) On the downside, it is rather heavy but as a 6 foot tall bloke, I'm ok with it. Do not buy this for your frail Grandmother :)Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $399.

Just horrible, keeps breaking down.Have emailed Karcher and they dont reply. Stay away from this product, you would be better using a mop and bucket. Not a very reliable product at all and paid over $400.

If you are going to buy this product then think thousand times, so expensive, too heavy to handle, too cumbersome to clean and maintain. Rollers doesn’t spin - it’s a piece of crap.
Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $300.
Karcher FC5 stopped spinning after being used five times.
Followed all instructions to clean and reattach roll but to no avail. Hope they can fix it. Should read the reviews before buying.

I use it on ceramic tiles and it does not do a good job as an ordinary mop on floors that are heavily soiled. You have to redo which is quite an inconvenience. For the price I am disappointed on its performance though it has a well built structure that makes it durable. I am stuck with it for a while in that regard.

My husband purchased this for me in May 2018. I have had nothing but problems with it - it has now gone in the rubbish bin. It does not clean into edges & corners as stated by Karcher. One of the mop rollers stripped the fabric off the first time I used it. I have to soak the rollers before using otherwise they screech like mad, using 50ml in the stand is useless. Now the motor has packed up. I thought Karcher were supposed to be good quality, but I am very disappointed. I have not tried to return it as the warranty states that if bought with a business card the warranty is only 3 months. I would have given no stars if there was an option.

This is the 2nd replacement ive had, now this has the same problem with motor bearings not spinning, back 2 the shop again, only using lightly, emptying and cleaned every time after use, very poor design, usually love my karcher products, not this one, money back this time i think

Easy to assemble. For those looking to buy there are two different version. Fc5 is a corded unit and cheaper than fc3 which is cordless.
Quite a heavy unit vs what I was expecting and the supplied stand is absolutely needed. The weight makes sense for it's functionality.
Two tanks. Freshwater is quite small vs the waste water which means frequent changes each 20mins. The waste water is real dirty so it indicates it cleans well.
Some issues...stubborn marks need several SLOW passes. Sticky issues won't be picked up but general hair dust etc...
Read more is. Dirty floors must be vacd first to b fair. The instructions for detergent etc is confusing. The sample supplied is very small. You do not need to buy their product and I find is leaves a haze no matter how little is used. My tip. Floor cleaner any grand and use approx 5ml.....no more.Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $349.

18 months old worked great clean great. Now the two bearings in the head have seized, causing the drive belt to break. Lost warranty, so carefully checked it out. Have no option's left. $370. 00 gone. Bought this product thinking it will be made properly. Seals in the head must let water in to seize the bearings. Use the cleaning product reconmended by karcher.

I have parquet timber floors and purchased this approx 8 weeks ago as I can’ t use steam. Very disappointed as it leaves streaks and blotches on the floor. I used Karcher products in the water as they suggest. I will phone the Company but now have gone back to my I Robot floor cleaner.
Purchased in at Harvey Norman.
The rollers stopped working and looks like its not made to last as the bearings seized up and will never run again very disappointed with something that has a decent idea

We have dogs so got the FC5 and in fairness it worked well at first. Now its just over a year old and I would say its been used 50 times and does not dispense water anymore so its back to the mop and bucket.
Shame it does not last long so dont waste your money on this cleaner, I have noticed the positive reviews but from what Ive seen they have not had the cleaner very long. Karcher jet washers are brilliant but this product really let their good name down.
I would highly recommend you do NOT buy this product
