A KitchenAid Kettle that requires First Aid
Seven months old, top fails to open 1 in 3 attempts. Electrical contact between the kettle and base is beginning to become sporadic requiring the kettle to be swivelled when putting on the base to attempt a successful contact. For a kettle costing a 3-figure sum it matches the quality of a kettle you would find in a bargain basement sale.

Just stopped working
The kettle worked well up until now however this morning when I turned it on it was dead. Very disappointed as it was a gift from my husband. At the bottom of the kettle unit there is a section for batteries. There are none in there. Should there be? Purchased David Jones early 2017.

Terrible
The lid doesn’t open and now the whole top of the handle has come away so cannot be used. Purchased from Myer in Penrith NSW. This product was not cheap for a kettle so I expected it to be amazing. Sadly I’m extremely disappointed. The water boils great and tastes fine, the kettle looks great.

The lid is not working
I have purchased this kettle (via kitchenwarehouse) not even a month ago. The issue with this product is that not even couple of weeks in use and the lid has failed to open. I am very disappointed. I am trying to return it, because for this amount of money you would want the lid to open!

Lid Faulty (even on 2nd kettle)
Pushing the button to open the lid would rarely work. I would end up having to use a fingernail to pry the lid open while pushing the button at the same time. This began to happen 2 or 3 days after purchasing. Put up with it for a couple of weeks, then brought it back to Harvey Norman, exchanged it for the exact same model. Brought that home and within the same day, lid wouldn’t open when pushing the button. Eventually brought that back and exchanged for a Smeg (which has its own problem, reviewed separately).

Love it!
I love this kettle, I was looking at a kettle that I can set different temperatures and this one works very well. I've had it for 9 months now and very happy with it.
It's quick to heat up, outside of kettle does get hot but holding by the handle is perfectly fine. Easy to clean and very nice looking.

poor quality
We have had issues with this kettle since we got it. The thermostat is really bad. Sometimes it will sit and boil the kettle until you have to manually swtich it off. Kitchenaid has just contacted us to tell us that the unit needs to be replaced due to a safety recall. I only hope the new one is better quality.
Oh, and the beeper is REALLY LOUD.......

This kettle is dangerous with handle design flaw.
The kettle looks great with the toaster, but that is all . Same problem here, lid came off handle twisted spilling boiling water luckily on no one. Possibly the dearest kettle on the market but is a ticking time bomb. Would have liked to know about product recall . Serial No YA65102430 .

Kettle
I had a recall on my kettle and I see from other reviews that the replacements have been sent out but as yet I haven't received mine am I likely to get a replacement and will it be better quality than other which are still having problems with the lid not breaking it seems that its a ongoing issue with kitchen aid kettles so I maybe lucky not to get my replacement and will not recommend product to anybody else

Looks great but lid won't open
This is a very expensive kettle and looks attractive but after two replacements, including the product recall, the third kettle is showing the same fault after just three weeks - the lid will not open.
This seems to be a common problem so I am not expecting much better from a third replacement.
Would not recommend this product.

2nd Time Awful Quality, Stay Away At All Costs!!!
I bought this item a few years ago and after a few months the lid would not open. Having returned it to Myer (who tried to make it seem that this was normal wear and tear), Kettle #2 developed the same problem after a number of months. Having called up KitchenAid I discovered that there was a recall, so I received another kettle. Guess what? Not even a fortnight has passed, and Kettle #3 is already not opening. Such an expensive kettle with such defects, it is simply unbelievable. Don't buy this at any cost.

FINGERS CROSSED - 4TH TIME
Received as a gift and highly delighted as my Daughter has the beautiul Kitchen Aid Mixer. Our delight lasted 10 months, when Kettle Number 1 would not turn off by itself, just continued to boil. We returned it and was given another. Kettle Number 2 after about 1 week, the Lid would not open by pressing the button, so had to fill through the spout, which was so annoying, we perservered hoping it would right itself with no luck. Along came Kettle Number 3 and after 1 night only, would not even turn on, had no power to unit at all, and then b...Read more
rown water leaked out the bottom onto the bench????? Now on Number 4 as i really do love the look of it, and want for it to work - Fingers crossed, but as for the KA Toaster we were going to get to match it - well .... no thanks, will forget that.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

poor quality
Bought one of these kettles about 7/8 months ago. We purchased it because of the preconceived quality of the brand, definitely not because of the price which was at the higher end of all, if not the most expensive in the shop. Had it a short while and the handle began to fall off because the 3 screws holding it on were TOO short. A simple quality control would have eliminated any problems for a lot of customers. Took it back to The Good Guys and was told that they had been recalled because of this fault and gave us a number to call to arrange ...Read more
a replacement. The guy we talked to was in the UK, we are in Australia. Odd that Aus can't handle this problem ? He said a replacement would be sent in up to 10 days. Going in to its third week we received the kettle. This one is also of poor quality in that the lid is hard to open unless you press the button with a backward motion and then it won't open all the time. Also, the lid is ill fitting and steam collects on the top of it when boiling. When will the manufacturers realise that if you want a premium price you MUST give a quality product not a Chinese load of rubbish. I presume those products made in the USA are of better quality. We are now shopping for a replacement toaster which has given nearly 20 years service and guess what brand we will definitely not consider. Sorry Kitchen Aid your products are expensive and not good value for money. Not recommended.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I'm taking it back
Very disappointing Kitchenaid.. to be honest I love the look of this Kettle classy.. I've only had mine for a couple of weeks, worked fine for the first week.. Now the lid is stuck !! Just won't open .. I have to fill it up through the spout, which is very inconvenient, takes too long to fill.. I believe with such a good brand this shouldn't of happened.. after reading all the other reviews I'm just waiting for the handle to fall off !!!

What a load of rubbish and waste of money.
As pointed out by many on here, this kettle appears to stop working often having to be lifted on and off the base before it shows power. Once it stopped working for a day and we had to use a the stove to boil water. This was in the first week of having it! Kitchenaid should be ashamed to put their name to this device, let alone charge so much for what is a terrible product. My wife bought the kettle along with the toaster and food processor - both fine and working as they should. Perhaps Kitchenaid should stick to these products and avoid kettles. I look forward to Kitchenaid explaining what is wrong with these kettles.

Extremely Rude Customer Service
Where do I start, bought the kettle, the lid broke and they replaced it under warranty, nice work.
In March I get a letter regarding a product recall, I checked the serial numbers and mine is affected, I call them and they tell they will send a new one. 7 weeks later, 3 phone calls later and after being spoken to by someone who was the rudest person ever, I just had to hang up the phone due to shock at being spoken to in such a bad way.
KitchenAid-I have thrown the kettle in the garbage as fear of the handle falling off(as told by you) and keep your replacement as I’m tired of the palava.

Great kettle!
Have used this kettle for a while and very happy. Apparently Kitchenaid has sent out a recall on the faulty handle, but my kettle is not affected as it is part of more recent production and I believe Kitchenaid has fixed the design/manufacturing. Quite impressed that the Kettle has a temperature setting and a function to maintain the temperature (i.e. keep warm).

Dangerous
Have just boiled my kettle to make my children's breakfast, and as I was pouring the water out, the handle has snapped off! Spilling boiling water everywhere. Very dangerous!!!! Also had problems when first purchased with it not turning on. Sat for 2 days then decided to work. Not a good product!

OK when it’s working
Several times just stopped boiling water for no reason only to work again 2 or 3 days later, until it finally, after just a year, completely stopped working.I bought it on KitchenAid’s good name, but the $ 20- kettle we had before this one at least functioned the way a kettle should.

I’ve also got this kettle that was gifted to me awhile ago as a present (so we never received the receipt) and now the display is starting to pack up on it.
I’m exceptionally disappointed as I’d wanted one of these kettles for ages.
I’ll just buy a cheap one as it looks like the quality is on par with these now.

I have just purchased this kettle today and followed the instructions exactly to boil and discard the water. All good. Refilled it to make my first cup of tea and there is no longer any display. No temp, no lights. Batteries are in correctly. Not working at all. What is the problem?
