Disappointing treatment of a long term member
My dog became very ill before Easter and after consultation had to be euthanised.Ihave had Medibank Pet Insurance for him and his predecesor totalling around 12 years. The pet portal proved unusable for placing my claim so I mailed it After some time I received a letter requesting more documentation including his adoption certificate which I gathered together and emailed. The next day I received an email thanking me and hoping my dog was recovering well. He had been dead for over two weeks! In the nearly 6 years we had him he had two small claim...Read more
s. I would never again take pet insurance. Far better to put money in a bank account each month. After your dog reaches 9 and cant be insured elsewhere the premiums sky rocket.Another trap is excesses. I understand they apply to each ailment each year.

Disappointed after being a loyal client for 10 years...
A recent trip to the emergency and a rejection of a $150 claim prompted us to review our Bronze Paw cover which over time has become pretty useless as it turns out...
As it turns out, there is no option to upgrade this if your cat is more than 9 years old (ours are 10) even though we've been with Medibank from the start...

Excellent!
Processed claims and had money back in our account in 2 days! Cancelled our policy for us automatically when we had to euthanize our cat. Highly recommend and will use again. Thank you Medibank.

Total scam. Dreadful service and ridiculous exclusions
First of all, every time you need to call these people put aside an hour and have a Valium handy. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. But aside from that the policies are basically a rort. Obnoxious amounts charged, ridiculous exclusions and just a nightmare to deal with. I previously had 3 pets covered for 5+ years... so they’ve made a fortune out of me for doing very little apart from raising my blood pressure. Today I cancelled the lot and will also be referring my complaint to the appropriate advisory bodies.

t. I’ve emailed about this twice, the portal doesn’t have any search results for “cancel” and the menu option for pet insurance on your phone line doesn’t work. In desperation I’ve gone through to the general line and begged that consultant to help me.MedibankMedibank

Straight forward and easy process
Have had the basic essential care policy for two years. After reading the pds and comparing with other insurers, it offered the most coverage for an older cat.
Not long after I insured my cat, he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism which requires extensive treatment and testing. Each and every claim has been easy and quickly processed. I have been really amazed at how straight forward everything has been.
I am about to go for a more permenant treatment which could cure my cat's illnesx (radioactive Iodine) which should hopefully be covered, but I guess I'll have to see how it goes.

Absolutely disgusted with Medibank Pet Insurance!!!
I encourage people NOT to take out Medibank Pet Insurance.
My 12-year-old dog's premium has suddenly increased by 40% this year to $142.60 per month, yet I claimed only $176 for him last calendar year on vet bills. The year before, I made only one claim of $73.47.
I would understand this ridiculous increase if I made frequent claims for him, but his medical history shows that he is and always has been a very healthy dog. I have made few claims for him over the entire life of this policy.
As he is 12 years old, I have no option now but to remain...Read more

dog’s policy, as well as the average cost of care for pets like yours". If this was true, why am I being penalised for having a HEALTHY elderly dog? A 40% premium increase is absolutely disgusting and there is no way you can justify that increase without admitting you are using people's love for their pets to extort money from them.MedibankMedibank

Terrible company-worst customer service Ive ever received
For two years I have been trying to register for their online portal. I have sent countless emails, spoken to customer services officers on the phone, sent so many screenshots, and no one has been able to resolve this simple issue. I have wasted so many hours on this and still no resolution in sight. Not happy.

What a dud service!
I spent months of backwards and forwards communication regarding a claim on my cat for bladder surgery. Three times that sent correspondence asking for the same documents! After spending hours of my life on the phone, photocopying and having to verify the truth, my claim was rejected anyway on a so-called pre-existing condition! Why did not they say this in the first place and I would not have wasted my time and energy. Its a dud service and I am better off putting the $1000 a year aside instead of dealing with such incompetents. Ive cancelled my policies.

Scam and claim isnt fairly assessed; cannot speak with claim team.
I decided to go with Medibank for pet insurance as we currently have top health insurance (including maternity cover) with them. Had heard very poor reviews re companies not fairly assessing pet insurance claims, and had hoped Medibank would be different. Sadly not. Received an email earlier this month advising our premium would be increasing by $13 per month, just for the annual premium increase. We submitted a pre-authorisation claim for treatment for our dog (who we have not claimed anything for previously) and the review process is tedious ...Read more
- email only (with no way to contact the claim review team via phone) and sadly as expected, declined for reasons that can only be seen to be due the Company not wanting to have to pay for legitimate treatment. Will be ceasing our pet and health insurance with Medibank and recommending friends go elsewhere. Buyer beware.1 comment

Total Rip Off
Almost ten years ago I insured my beautiful 6 month old Bull Mastiff with Medibank Pet Insurance under the top Gold Paws Cover. I am not sure, although from memory I think the Premium was about $43.00 per month with the 80% Claim Reimbursement. With annual increases, as at June this year the Premium had risen to $164.23 per month!! During those years I paid thousands of dollars. I naturally made claims, each had to be accompanied by the mandatory Full Vet History and when submitted, 95% of those claims were rejected. In total, over the life of...Read more
the Policy I received back just over a thousand dollars. For a few years during spring my baby suffered a grass allergy resulting in a rash on her feet and a hacking cough and each time required an injection and a course of Antihistamines. The claim/s were rejected on the basis it was KENNEL COUGH and MPI would not budge from their professional diagnosis even though the Vet clearly stated it was a grass allergy. I notified Win (male) 11th. October 2022 my baby had been put to sleep earlier that day and to cancel my Policy which he indicated would now automatically expire on October 29th. On October 31st. (20 days after cancelling) I received an email from MPI informing me the next instalment had been taken from my account but would be returned to my bank account within the next 10 business days! If they cant rip you off one way they obviously have back up plans to get as much as they can, for as long as they can and stuff the innocent victims. I have many friends and on our walks met numerous people who had dogs equivalent in size and weight to my girl, all were with other Pet Insurers and all enjoyed refunds without question or rejection and were shocked at the way MPI treated, correction, should say mistreated, their clients. I loved my dog, she was my best friend, I had no hesitation in going without to give to her which was every day she was alive. She was unquestionably one of the best things I was ever blessed with and Medibank Pet Insurance was one of the worse. I do not want a reply, acknowledgement, explanation or*we are sorry to hear of your experience * in response to this review from Medibank Pet Insurance, you had every opportunity to demonstrate the value of your Policy Holders while I was a member. My specific reason for this review is to warn others before they make the same mistake I did. Thank goodness I am now free of you.1 comment

I would never do it again. Waste of money
When I fist applied I had full cover on cruciate ligament. They change the policy with out telling me three years in and I didn't read it as I thought it was the same. The operation cost me $4300 and I got $2700 back but it took months and it was hard. Not one phone call. service is horrible. I have not claimed anything else as the way the break up the fees when you do to the vet it doesn't allow for it. Do not use Medibank. Next time I will put money away each month.

Very disappointed
I have both two dogs with the medibank pet insurance for 10 years, the claim was reasonable. The first dog past away in Feb and they refunded me the remaining monthly fee from the day he past away. My second dog past away on the 4th Sep. I contacted them on the 24th Sep and try to terminate his insurance. I thought the termination date is the date he past away, However, they said they can terminate the insurance from the 18th because that's my payment date. Even I can send them the proof from vet. They just rejected to consider that. Means I am paying for the insurance with a past away dog. Very disappointed of what just experienced. I have rescue a dog last month but I may not choose medibank anymore.

Very disappointed
I do not recommend. I made a claim for the first time since joined them a year ago. The premium looks cheaper compared to similar cover insurance. But it was so hassled to get only a small amount of money back. I haven't been paid yet though because "lack of information". I submitted necessary documents that prompted in the member portal, such as vet note, receipt and the form with vet's signature and details. But I got letters from Medibank says "lack of information".
They now asking me "history". So I submitted all the records I have even th...Read more
